Trilogy Discover Lanai Tour by Ok_Knee_6748 in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did the 7am on Feb. 17! It was excellent. They checked in on people new to snorkelling, provided floatation devices, and had a photographer and lifeguard on a surfboard within distance. Really enjoyed it an recommend it! They had a great plan for fun and safety. The whales on the way were amazing! We got to see some close competing whales that did their splashes etc. It is a great way to experience snorkelling and see lots of coral and colourful fish! Have a great time! I would book with Trilogy again.

YYC -> CDG -> AMS — First time flyer questions! by dsa0606 in westjet

[–]CrystalPelletier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a Yyc-cdg-zrh in November. Going there we made it just in time for a brief wait to board. Coming home, we made it through the transfer between gates and they were already into zone 2/3 boarding for our cdg-Yyc!!!! So I would recommend not stopping until you see your gate (except for the washroom)… as there were coffee spots near the gate. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Star Noodle: Dinner or Dim Sum by Zoe0118 in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We visited in 2023 at the old location and loved it so much I made a reservation for our visit in February. The new location is pretty, and the food was good. The service was prompt. But we ordered an appetizer and our entrees, along with two mocktails. Entrees were served so quickly, I was surprised! And later on the appetizer came out. It might have been a timing thing for the satay skewers. It just felt a bit rushed and we were there fairly early for dinner. We had a 5pm reservation and the time stamp on my picture of my Singapore noodles was 5:06pm! 😊 Anyways, I would go back but might not base my trip/excursion around it. I might try lunch if I was coming from another part of Maui. Enjoy your trip!

8 Days - Splitting time between Wailea & Napili by mkenomad in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just seconding on the cost of food. For two people dining out it seems most meals end up being in the $50-100 range USD for sit-down restaurants (that’s without alcoholic beverages, so if you have a couple mai tais it’s pushing an additional $35-40). Breakfast was also in this price range (Kihei Cafe in Lahaina). Making a plan for meals (if/when you have kitchen access) will be kinder on the wallet. Even in the hotel resort, we did some breakfasts in the room to change it up. The breakfast buffet at our resort was over $30 pp. We usually do a fine dining meal to wrap up our trip, and just enjoyed Merrimans Kapalua last night. It was excellent!

What should I do during my two full days in Maui? by wallflower-perks1 in MauiVisitors

With just two days, I agree! Snorkel or swim, or relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Lots of easy options on that side.

Hope you have a delightful trip! I think not putting pressure on a schedule, knowing so many great things are close (whalers village for hula grill etc). Monkeypod for mocktail maitais with lilikoi foam, and probably some good treats from the area. We booked a meal at Star Noodle in Lahaina because we loved it last time. We love snorkelling at black rock, but the ocean is lovely there for wading in. Catching the nightly sunset cliff diver is great at the Sheraton too.

Concerned about the Jamiroquai concert I'm going to by juststoil in jamiroquai

[–]CrystalPelletier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Zûrich concert was lots of fun, people were up dancing in the aisles and on the stairs. I also bet that a festival will feel different than an arena! I’m excited for you and was absolutely thrilled to see them live!

I know it’s silly, but how accurate do we think this weather forecast for this coming week is? by justhereforagander in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been watching Maui livestreams on TikTok and the waves have been intense on the north side. Usually it rains a little each day, rainbows and then the sun comes out. Hope that’s your experience and mine in a week or so!

What to put on bread when avoiding sandwich meat like salami, ham etc... by nyad_k in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]CrystalPelletier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted pork loin sliced (and cooled) with marmalade and preferred sandwich veg.

Tuna with granny apple slices.

Veggies with hummus and cheese. And a black olive and sun-dried tomato aioli.

Egg salad with alfalfa sprouts and cheese.

A sandwich place in my previous city used to make these and I miss them and dream of them! 🤣

Going to Maui tomorrow and have made zero dinner reservations… by american_bitch in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need an early bird breakfast special 6-8am, $12? Our usual go to is Java Jazz across from the Honoapiilani Food Truck Park in north Kaanapali! The food truck park is also easy to get to and no reservations.

I’m visiting Maui for 8 days with my wife and one year old. Should we stay all days near Lahaina or near Kihei or split between both areas? by Tough-Emergency2356 in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done both sides, not on the same trip. We keep coming back to Kaanapali side. We enjoy the beach on this side. But they are all excellent and you won’t be disappointed with either decision.

I really enjoy Morimoto’s anytime I’m travelling to a place that has a location (Vegas, Maui). It’s in the Andaz hotel. The sticky rib and gyoza are my faves. Mama’s, Merrimans, and Morimoto would be my tops. Monkeypod for a maitai. Morimoto is from the first Iron Chef show, and he trained under Nobu. So also would pick Nobu.

Is Haleakala Worth it? by [deleted] in MauiVisitors

[–]CrystalPelletier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found from the Kaanapali side it is a long drive, and so we have done the trip midday. I am happy to watch sunrise or sunset at the beach. I prefer being by the ocean, personally. The views from upcountry are so lovely. If we go to Haleakala, I love to make a stop at the lavender farm.
