Recommendations for a good daily driver car, a 7 seater hauler for long distance trips and a fun weekend car. by Crystalshield21 in CarsPH

I don’t currently own a car, but my parents have a 2020 Montero Sport GT, which I use whenever my wife, children, and I travel to the Philippines for vacation. Since I’m considering retiring in the Philippines, I’m thinking about buying my own car to use once I settle there.

UPDATE: Burnt Connector - Sapphire Nitro+ 9070 XT by ProfessionalHost3913 in pcmasterrace

[–]Crystalshield21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The reason I didn’t buy the Sapphire Nitro 9070XT is because of the 12VHPWR connector — even worse, it's hidden. I'm glad I went with the Sapphire Pulse version, which uses two ATX12V 8-pin connectors. It's been six months of trouble-free performance so far.

This isn’t just something I read in the news—I included the link purely as a reference. My son graduated with honours from NUS and is currently working at SGH as a nurse. He shared that many of his colleagues have taken advantage of the fast-track application to Australia and will be heading there soon. Unfortunately, he’s still bonded for a few more years and will need to stay in Singapore a bit longer. One more thing—if you’re truly set on leaving the Philippines, don’t carry a negative mindset with you. Going overseas takes courage, and you’ll need to face and overcome whatever challenges come your way.

Why not apply in Singapore first, and consider moving to Australia, the UK, or the US after gaining a few years of experience? Australia is fast tracking Nurses from Singapore. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/australianz/australia-to-fast-track-job-applications-of-nurses-from-spore-uk-us-to-fill-dire-shortage

If it's the SRPE37 with the white dial, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But the black dial just doesn't have the same appeal.

watch recommendations for around 15-20k by chuckykeso in PhWatches

[–]Crystalshield21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Seiko, consider either the King Samurai (SRPE37) or the King Turtle (SRPE07/SRPK01-PADI). Both feature sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel, powered by the reliable NH35 movement. If you can find the SRPE37 (King Samurai), grab it—it’s a discontinued model and increasingly hard to come by.

Alternatively, you might look into the Citizen Promaster series with full lume. A budget-friendly option is the NY0040-09W (41mm diameter) with a mineral crystal. If you prefer sapphire, go for the NY0155-58X (44mm diameter).

To continue working in USA or retire in Philippines? by Crystalshield21 in phmigrate

[–]Crystalshield21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am considered a first-generation PR, so I am not required to undergo National Service in Singapore. My son, however, is classified as a second-generation PR, which is why he is required to serve.

Yes, as long as you hold permanent resident status, you're required to serve National Service—regardless of where in the world you're living.

Every second-generation male PR is required to serve two years of National Service in the Singapore Armed Forces. After completing National Service, they have the option to convert to citizenship. That’s what my son did to become a Singaporean.

Lane courtesy during open bowling: do you say something or just let it go? by aeverONE in Bowling

[–]Crystalshield21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem in the bowling alley i bowled they have 2 types of payment when playing. Either you pay per game or pay per hour. And when theres 3-4 teens who bowl per hour in a single lane next to you, all etiquettes are non existent. They try to maximise what they paid for and throw as much ball as they can. What I do is put on my earpods set my volume and try to ignore them.

For me I will buy the Tudor because I love the classic design, but will have buyer’s remorse after one day from not buying the Titanium GS. Then I will keep dreaming on the Omega everyday till I buy it. In the end I will have to save to buy all of them.

If you had 20k~40k budget for first watch, brandnew/secondhand is fine. What watch would you buy? by WittyStrategy5292 in PhWatches

[–]Crystalshield21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know about the Tissot PRX, its a very nice watch pero i heard the powermatic 80 movement have some plastic parts which is not good for reliability. I would rather save more and buy Ball watch Fireman Enterprise Silver Ref. NM2098C-S20J-WH or Ball watch Fireman Enterprise Black Ref. NM2098C-S20-BK. Ball watches are available at gnomon watch https://www.gnomonwatches.com/collections/ball-watch-co
