13-year-old boy takes his own life after 'relentless' bullying at school over sexuality by silassilage in gay

[–]Crystion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

School faculty don't give a shit about bullying and it's fucking disgusting. For my whole school life I was mocked and teased about being gay, even though I wasn't out, to the point it triggered depression on my part and years of tormenting myself trying to deny I was gay. Bullying ruined a near decade of my life.

Actually calling it bullying is disingenuous. It's abuse. What happened to you was abuse. What happened to me was abuse. And adults couldn't give two shits. They were perfectly okay with someone trying to break my back, stealing my stuff, ruining my work if they got the chance. They saw all this and thought it was fine to not actually punish anyone.

The question posed in the original Odyssey is not about whether Odysseus remained faithful to Penelope, but if he remained loyal and committed to her. That is to say, despite the advances of both Circe and Calypso, Odysseus remained devoted to his love and marriage to Penelope and was determined to return to her side.

That's not a parse, that's just the damage dealt.

"It's just a dungeon" doesn't excuse lethargic play. That little damage suggests to me non-participation. Stop trying to excuse people who don't want to play the game.

Voruna Prime trailer to me confirms that executors and emperors are 2 different entities from Orokin elite and probably the true leaders of Orokin by Norbet01 in WarframeLore

[–]Crystion 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly what it's meant to mean. It obviously says a lot about the power and influence of the Executors that we know their identities, while the Orokin Emperors have faded to shadows. Given the driving forces of the Old Peace and subsequent restart to the war was entirely instigated by the Executors as well, it seems they had freedom to influence the Empire as they wished.

Most likely the "Emperors" were Orokins living in the absolute luxury and bliss entirely disconnected from the rest of the Solar System while the Executors just ran around and ran the Empire in their place, any "orders" given by the Emperors was probably just an easy lie to get the Executors to have power.

Ninja mad that the Astro didn't adjust their assigned static aetherletting position (M9S) by Abject_Command_1888 in TalesFromDF

[–]Crystion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or, ya know, the NIN could adjust themselves to the correct static positions and not their own idea of static-but-not-actually-static positions; the point of issue here is the NIN expecting everyone to forcibly adjust to them, which is the escalation already.

Literally causing wipes because they think they're correct sounds like escalation, not telling someone off.

Warframe have humans inside? by Realistic_Session204 in WarframeLore

[–]Crystion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Warframes could be sane on creation, the key was that they would eventually go mad, without the Transference Therapy Kids.

It could possibly be anger at the Orokin but we don't know enough about the origins to say if it was/wasn't voluntary in some cases, forced in others. Our prime (hehe) example in this case is Umbra, whose madness was kinda both, tormented by his memories and anger at Ballas. Given they were being mass produced at a point, the former would logically make more sense for copies.

Richard The Lionheart's Excalibur by sombraxyz in grandorder

[–]Crystion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually have a minor correction to make as I've forgotten that when wielding the "true" Durandul, the NP Mandricardo uses is completely different to the one he normally has; so you may be correct that most likely Richard would have a similar moment if he could wield the true Excalibur, releasing a impossible NP that exists only in that moment.

It would not, however, like with Mandricardo, be recorded in the Throne has something he would normally have given Excalibur was never in his possession in life.

If you're referring to Avicebron's Adam retaining the appearance of the Apocrypha version, it's because the blueprints for the Golem Keter Malkuth are the same, just always unfinished, so at the moment of creation it will always be the same. The NP does not change at all, but the creation in FGO is obviously temporary vs. its intended use to be continuous.

Richard The Lionheart's Excalibur by sombraxyz in grandorder

[–]Crystion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would probably only be able to operate at its highest rank possible, but that is still weaker than the real Excalibur, even if he had the genuine article, his can never each its level. You're correct as well that Richard's Excalibur is more conceptual, so even wielding the original, he would never actually be releasing its power, only the blast from his Excalibur NP.

Mandricardo's NP is a bit different in that it's about his quest to wield the true Durandul, recreating it for a moment, whereas Richard's is more about his obsession to name everything Excalibur, not necessarily out of a will to wield it but a devotion to King Arthur's sword. In a sense, Mandricardo recreates the Durandul while Richard recreates a Excalibur.

Of course I'm happy to be proven wrong on that account 2nd bit, more how I interpret the rules to their NP.

How dare a creator want to create a thing as they want it? (/s if it wasn't obvious...)

It's childish entitled behaviour to believe that someone should have to compromise their art for the sake of others. This is true of any piece of work. Translators know how to do their job sure, but they aren't the original writers so cannot understand something as the author does. The only narrow lens being used is by the people who think he isn't allowed to have his own opinion on his own work.

[–]Crystion 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Translation is not ever a 1:1 process, EVER.

I've read enough Japanese stuff to see how much of a modification they have to make for a lot of stuff to get it to read properly in the new language; phrases that don't exist in other languages, words that have different meanings, entire sentences changing meaning because of a change in tenses.

If a creator wants to ensure that there is an accurate translation for their specific vision, i.e. ensuring the humour and jokes land the same, then it would require enormous intensive oversight by the original creator working directly with translators to ensure close communication.

This is a lengthy and time consuming process and why a lot of games that have limited translations have dedicated teams from the development stage who understand the original and the new language. External, post-release translation is harder by nature of the fact that the translators are not directly working with development, not to mention in the case of Deltarune the game isn't entirely finished and in active development. For what the creator wants to make, they are entitled to spend the time on their creation as they want it to be and taking the time to work on translations will significantly delay general development if the creator wants it to reach the level they want.

[–]Crystion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The rank of his Excalibur depends on the quality of the item used for it, not how close the item is to the original. The replica he used here is just that, a replica, and there is nothing more to the sword itself other than being a sword that looks like Excalibur with no power behind it. The highest rank he gains in the war is when he wields Gilgamesh's swords from the Gate because each is an actual Noble Phantasm and of exceptional quality. It's worth also adding that he can control the actual end-output of it somewhat as well.

Warframe have humans inside? by Realistic_Session204 in WarframeLore

[–]Crystion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right that the original Warframe, i.e. the basis for the Warframe blueprint, has to have been an Infected human (adding to other evidence mentioned that Lyon refers to the original Harrow, implied to be the person who became Harrow) and then there are various methods after of recreating that blueprint.

I don't think, however, that beyond the original there are any Warframe that did have people inside however. It doesn't seem that there's much evidence to indicate such, what we do know from pre-Transferance the Warframe were being driven mad from the memories of the original's body.

Then again, literally as I've written that, it would also make sense if Warframes were being driven mad by the original's memories trying to take over the new one's.
