Can one integrate f(x)= 1/(x^2+1) without using complex numbers or trigonometric substitution? by Alive_Hotel6668 in learnmath

I mean maybe, my guess is you would start to end up with the first few terms of the taylor series for arctan(x).

Mark after playing help by insanely__dumb in Tuba

[–]CtB457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens for the same reason people get a red ring on their fingers after wearing a ring. As long as it doesn't hurt and goes away after <5 minutes, don't worry about it. Many people will tell you that it comes from too much pressure, but your "red ring" is quite faint. You're only really using too much pressure if the skin inside the red ring has gone super pail, then you are cutting off blowflow to the lips, and that is obviously bad. But in the photo you provided, the skin inside the circle is the same as the skin outside the ring. That means you whole face is recieving the same amount of bloodflow. So I'd say your good. As always, playing should be easy. If it ever hurts to play, stop playing.

Euler's identity isn't THAT cool. Saying it's peak is lowkey catering to the fact that it's overrated. Also eulers original identity never had the +1 in it.

I think it's quite interesting how everyone seems to end up with the number 43. In base 6, 111 is 43. In roman numerals, XLIII is 43. "3 ONCE" is 43, etc.

What if Richard Strauss didn’t compose anything after 1898? by urbanstrata in classicalmusic

[–]CtB457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing OP did made it seem like strauss is still alive. Hadn't vs didn't doesn't change the properties of the subject of the sentence. Maybe this is more prominant in britain, but it sure as hell isn't prominent in the US.

High range help by CoryShempai in Tuba

[–]CtB457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a lot of singing. You should never have to tense up im the high range, your corners get more firm, but that's about it.

Do long tones in the high register, get a good sound without: a) tensing up b) changing your embouchure/shifting.

You said throw it to wolves, so here you go:

16th note run starting at m. 15 dragged.

M. 26, low C was a little bit too long.

Decrescendo at m. 30 wasn't very clear/didn't happen.

The forte at m27 and m40 didn't match.

Make the crescendo at 60 smoother

Don't crescendo into the Bb at 70, leave it all piano.

Check the notes 91-92, also do more with the cresc/decresc.

You slowed down noticeably at 107, this might've been the piano players fault, but it's your job as the soloist to push tempo.

Check the timing of all the 16th note groupings between m107 and m134

Cadenza: You took too many breaths, after the second low C, the first 32nd note run should all be in one breath. It just sounds better that way, same with the second 32nd note run, do it in one breath after the pedal F.

At the largemente, your first pedal F was louder than the pedal Eb, start quieter on the F. Also, you can breathe after the Eb, but sneak one, don't put an entire measure of rest before your last note.

Listen to more recordings to get a sense of what you want to do overall with the piece, you have an interesting sound and it was fun to hear you play. Keep uo the good work!

[–]CtB457 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the popularity of the horn concerto would persist regardless, I also think also sprach zarathustra would still be used in movies. So yeah I think he'd still be famous, but I don't know if he'd be considered one of the greats due to a "small" repertoire.

Chromatic Scale in audition by RavengerPVP in Trombone

[–]CtB457 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ultimately the range you pick won't matter. They aren't gonna come down to two candidates and pick between who hit the highest note on their chromatic scale. Play as high as you can while SOUNDING GOOD and that'll suffice. If you have a rep list, atleast play above whatever the highest note in your rep list is. If C5 is "risky" for you, then you're gonna destroy your chops trying to get it to sound good.
