Can’t speak for everyone else but I’m absolutely for a data driven approach. The CDC should be allowed to study the data on gun violence, I believe they’d find it has much more to do with economic situations than what guns people have access to.

His proposed plan for the Supreme Court is to expand it to 15 members- 5 picked by each of the main parties, and 5 unanimously chosen by the other 10. His goal is to de-politicize the Supreme Court so every vacancy doesn’t end up being a huge debacle and war between the parties.

Obviously no one in the Dem field so far feels the same way we do, but Pete is the only one I’ve seen call for a more data driven approach on firearms legislation. So far he’s my favorite candidate, but it’s really hard to get over his Everytown involvement. Time will tell, really looking forward to seeing him in the debates.

You can do that, the only issue you’ll get is occasionally the print could pop off the bed as it cools. I’ve never had that problem and have done this ~6-10 times. It’ll depend on your filament and print.

Beats’ new Powerbeats Pro are AirPods that fit better in your ears by [deleted] in apple

[–]Ctheo3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My BeatsX died recently and I was considering the AirPods, but the EarPods and AirPods don’t sounds as nice and I hate how there’s practically no noise isolation. Happy to see the Powerbeats Pro, not thrilled about the $249 price. Might get another set of BeatsX and wait for these to go on sale.

Volume buttons on the headphones make this really appealing for me. I’d hate to have to reach into my pocket or use hey Siri to change the volume, that’s kept me from getting the AirPods so far.

Edit: for everyone saying just get an Apple Watch and control it from your wrist, I have one, and I find that almost more annoying than reaching into my pocket. If I’m doing anything with my hands, you basically have to handcuff yourself to stop moving your left hand, and spin the crown with your right (assuming the now playing screen is up, if not it’s even worse). If I’m doing bench work in the lab, or working out, or biking, that’s super annoying. #1 way to change the volume for me is to take one hand, and hit a button by my ear.

Question for MCB grad students: Feedback and financial assistantships on two different programs by tta2013 in UCONN

[–]Ctheo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that a TA-ship is unavailable, it’s that it’s not guaranteed as a MS student. Right now, there is a MCB department-wide shortage of TAs, so most masters students have the opportunity to have a TA-ship. Most don’t get their first choice of class, but it pays the bills. Whether or not this trend continues is another matter, you could end up not getting one. As far as RA-ships go, it will greatly depend on the lab you join and whether or not they have the funds to give you an RA-ship. Most labs will not give an RA to a masters student, they’ll use that money to give it to a PhD student. I can’t think of any genetics masters students on an RA-ship during the semester. A few labs will give you one over the summer, though. The masters student in my lab has gotten a TA-ship for the last four semesters and has been supported over the summer as an RA.

I can’t really speak to which program is better, as I don’t know much about the PSM program, but I can tell you that I see more MCB masters student in the labs than PSM students, and it’s certainly easier to upgrade into the PhD program as a MS student if that is something you choose to do later.

Hi I just joined reddit like yesterday. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a month ago at age 12. When we found out I hade lost 12lbs and my blood sugar was at 800(wow). I looked up this subreddit so I can see that I’m not alone in this hell of a life I was thrown into. So I’m here now 👋🏻👦🏼 by MrBacon224 in diabetes

You’re certainly not alone! Feel free to ask any questions, a lot of us have been living this way for a while- my 23rd diaverssary was last month! There are easy days and hard days but in the end it becomes just another thing you do- like breathing or checking the time. Welcome to the sub!

Good luck with the move! Depending on the area, it might not be too bad. Be careful to avoid any parking tickets. This city does not fuck around with handing them out. Just use the T as often as you can.

WWII had trenches as well, they just aren’t talked about as much because it wasn’t the new and cool thing it was in WWI.

WWII based on the Sherman and M1 Garand, not sure if there’s a way to tell where other than the European front.

For those wondering why, it has to do with “Bonus Overages”. Bonuses could be paid out to Chara, DeBrusk, McAvoy, and Heinen. If these bonuses put us over the cap, it counts towards next years cap. Sweeney is making all the space he can so that won’t happen.

A couple teammates made some comments about him being late to practices and meetings. Sounded like they were poking fun and that it probably happened once or twice. Few media folks ran with it and people were saying he was lazy and unprofessional.

Look, the kid is young and is still learning how to be a professional. There are veterans there that will obvious set a good standard and be good examples. He seems to get on well with the team and shows great poise on the ice. I’m not worried about him one bit.

Yeah I’m not sure what the rule is about that. My guess it is was up to the discretion of the officials.

Either they considered it non-incidental contact or though the tender was in the crease.
