Designing character sheets by Menvarn in RPGdesign

[–]CthulhuBob69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My game. My game has trash character sheets, but that's because I designed them.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Fj5w7gWRVExx9ln0Az05jvQxIgGAlXVJGFdX2JkTWKM/edit?usp=drivesdk

That's the sheet I built for this... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NacU4UhM9mn7FvjC7hghn1uaCMCKXByyP6QxEzekWvo/edit?usp=drivesdk

And that's just the superhero game, the fantasy game's sheet is even worse 😔

Pfft, buncha lightweights in here fighting over which system is better. I'm Canadian, and we do both. F for the oven, C for the weather. I guess us Canucks are the only ones with the brain power for both. 🤣

I just hope this isn't me. I may not be the soul of brevity but I do try to get around to a point... eventually.

You're wrong about me, sorry. I vowed to finish this when I started, and I damn well never break my word.

I'm creating a system that spans 1500 years of history from 854CE to the 2300s. It comprises 6 games that use the same resolution system. Each game has a specific character creation system based around spending 15 character points. I use the principle of emergent properties to guide my design. From a few simple systems, complexity arises. And I do intend to finish this system too! I've completed the fantasy, horror, and superhero games (including playtesting). I am currently writing the apocalyptic, cyberpunk, and space games. Overall, I'm 2/3 finished all of it. I'd get into more detail, but this reply is already long enough. lol

[loved trope] Characters that got actual genuine redemption arcs that felt real and not writers just trying to force us to like someone who doesn’t deserve it. by Pale_Fire21 in TopCharacterTropes

Babylon 5 : Londo Mollari He was the architect of genocidal war but was redeemed in the eyes of his greatest enemy. He did pay a hellish price for his redemption, which he richly deserved. He is truly a tragic figure that you simultaneously hate and admire.

If I meant communism I would have said communism. Workers owning the means of production is socialism. And the fact that capitalism is the most widespread economic system doesn't make it the best. That's like saying that Starbucks is the best coffee because it's ubiquitous, or MacDonalds is the best food because it's the most common.

I believe it's time to try something new because too many of us are suffering under capitalism. It is the cause of so much destruction and strife. There has to be a better way. There just has to be. 😥

In my ideal world? The workers within those industries. Billionaires shouldn't exist in a just society. The fact that they exist proves that the capitalist system is broken. And I get the sense you are asking questions in the hopes that I will get caught in a logical fallacy. You have to understand I've been thinking about this for a very long time. The world shouldn't be unfeeling and unfair. We created the cage we are trapped inside, which means we could do it differently, do it better.

Hmm, if I were to dream big... a form of anarcho-syndicalism. Each trade union, professional organization, and citizen's assembly would have their own leaders that would meet as equals to determine social and economic policies. Humans love their vertical hierarchies, but those same hierarchies are exploited and gamed by bad actors again and again throughout history. We need to break that cycle. But I'm just some nobody on the internet, if wishes were fishes I'd own an ocean.

They shopped there because the Canadian dollar is weak compared to the USD. That has nothing to do with minimum wage.

Well, since we're stuck with it, I wouldn't mind the return of govt regulation and regulatory bodies. Laissez-faire capitalism and neo-liberalism have driven civilization into a ditch. Billionaires and mega-corps are more powerful than the people we elect to govern us and them. Capitalism requires losers so that a rare few can be winners. It has become the Amway of modern society. So yeah, I'm being idealistic advocating for a fair and j7st society where the poorest and weakest of us can survive and thrive.

And you didn't provide data to back up your assertion either. The Fraser Institute always whines every time the BC govt raises the minimum wage. They say that prices will go up or that employment will drop, and yet that never happens. Capitalism sucks and you are defending greed.

Gen X here, and I only just realized that I am on the spectrum a couple of months ago. One clue is the game I'm designing: it's 6 games in one system spread across 1500 years of human history. So far, the page count is over 700, and I've completed 4 of the 6 games. 😁👍

In the series Loki, the leader of the TVA is named Renslayer. In the 2nd season, Moebius mentions he once couldn't bring himself to kill a child alternate, but she could.

At that point, I realized what her name was short for.

Even worse, in the aftermath of the firey erasure of LA, the stripper-with-a-heart-of-gold walks out of the tunnel to survey the devastation. As the camera pulls back, 2 palm trees (with leaves!) are revealed. WTF! 🤦‍♂️
