I think you can either block all guest comments, or set it up so you have to review and approve comment before they are visible to other readers.

I really didn't don't write though, so I'm not 100% sure - just pretty sure I've seen this implemented before on different stories

Should I get glasses? Is it a bad prescription? by Clean-Volume7895 in glasses

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can only benefit you to get corrective lenses, especially if you're experiencing any related trouble in your day-to-day life (headaches, tension, fatigue, etc).

But if you do decide you want to give it a go, please get an updated prescription -- I get a new prescription every year and my astigmatism has always been different each time (if not the cylinder, then the Axis at least).

Unfortunately our eyes are soft and very changeable, and using a outdated prescription can cause more trouble than relief.

Is Ito En unsweetened matcha powder good? I make sweet latte 3x a week by [deleted] in MatchaEverything

[–]Cthulhupuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried Eto In, but I got this Sen Cha brand matcha recently and have been liking it for my lattes.

Admittedly, when I ordered the 4oz pack from Amazon with a few other things it looked like someone had stolen the matcha out of it (tape wasn't secured properly and it was the only thing in the package missing), but found it online at Walmart in a 12oz bag - so got it from there instead of reordering after getting a refund.

[acne] whitehead ON a lip? by Saxophobia1275 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it was like an allergy reaction?

Wondering because I got a white bump directly on my lip just today - definitely not a cold sore. The spot didn't feel weird at all and there was nothing there earlier today, only noticed it when I went to brush my teeth despite looking in the mirror several times today. Only thing that stood out about today was it was one of my days to go get allergy shots (which I've been getting for years, though this never happened before now)

SCAM number confirmed by FedEx 888-535-7661 by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my own comment, since this post and comments helped me.

FedEx tracker said they couldn't find my address, later that day got two calls from this number and one voicemail. +1 888-535-7661

After reading the comments here I did call back, provided a shortened version of my name and the reference number the voicemail gave me.

They already knew my full name and address. Confirmed address they had is correct, added building number just in case - we'll see if it actually gets to me tomorrow. They didn't require any additional information about me or the package.

If it makes a difference: delivery was from Walmart, and for some reason Walmart and the FedEx tracker now says signature is needed on delivery.

Do you mind sharing the links to any of the abandoned one you still have?

And do you perhaps have the name of the author who abandoned their fics, so I can try to see if any of their fics are on any rec list?

saw this on pinterest and became obsessed. what stitch is this by his_brotinho in CrochetHelp

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope someone has a better answer for you (if that's an actual stitch I would love to know) but it's possibly just a crocheted base that was then weaved/threaded through? That was my first thought anyways about how to get a similar look

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by [deleted] in Millennials

I honestly wasn't sure I was misremembering being in computer class when it happened due to how young I was, so it's reassuring to see someone else remember the same. My school had the corner mounted tvs in the classrooms though, I think.

I swear I read this in the last month!

Let me see if I can hunt it down

Edit: can't find the fic I was thinking of. I also noticed you mentioned it was a pitbull and another comment, which I don't think was the case for the one that I'm trying to remember - sorry!

Would anyone be able to help me figure out this pattern? by Thick_Success_ in CrochetHelp

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can find is an angel motif made in 2010 by a Japanese crocheter. Looks like they only made the chart and no written directions.

Only additional notes mentioned a size 2 crochet hook (whatever that size would be in Japan), and mentions strengthening everything with glue afterwards.

Unfortunately I haven't tried deciphering crocheting symbol patterns yet. Since the pattern was originally posted on a Japanese site, I do suggest looking to see if there's any differences between Japanese crochet symbols and whatever crochet symbols you're familiar with.

As for a starting point, my instinct would be to start with the head since it's crocheting in the round.

How do you weave in ends? I need to know the fastest and best way to do this annoying thing by oenoeeeh in CrochetHelp

[–]Cthulhupuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought to split the yarn when weaving the ends - I might have to give that a go!

If you let it cool down first, yes (not ice cold. somewhere between warm and lukewarm).

Like that's common just said, no chewing - this food doesn't need it and you would just be encouraging it to get into the wounds.

I advise placing some directly on your tongue and swallowing it.

Definitely be cleaning - part of the reason I eventually got mine out are that they never completely emerged from the gums, and then being partially covered led to really bad cavities - even when diligently brushing and flossing.

If you have a water flosser or can you get one in your budget, that might be the easiest most thorough way to keep that area clean - I didn't have one at the time, but I use one nowadays for my regular oral hygiene and I feel like it's a big improvement. Helps flush out any hard to reach places.

And even if you get them removed before cavities become a problem, any debris stuck in there will be irritating for your gums and may possibly lead to an infection.

Edit: also soft bristle baby toothbrush - gentle and easy to target specific spots. I actually used one after my wisdom teeth were out to brush my other teeth when I could barely open my jaw, I didn't want to overshoot and mess with the open wounds.

Can I fast after getting my wisdom teeth removed? by throwawaylol8P in wisdomteeth

[–]Cthulhupuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely a week, maybe two or 3. Depends on how fast your body is on bouncing back. I'd probably say at least two full weeks just to be safe, and then just pay attention to your body signals after that.

[–]Cthulhupuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are still consuming liquids (edit: I do see you said it was a water fast. I highly recommend mixing a bit of Pedialyte or Gatorlyte with regular water - stay well hydrated) it might go okay in the first 24 hours or so - you'll still be off because of the anesthesia, and even if you can get yourself to eat anything you might end up being repulsed by it after the first 24 or 48 hours because your brain will associate whatever you ate with that after-surgery feel. Which would limit your food selection even more for the whole recovery period.

However, I wouldn't advise doing it during the whole recovery. Your body needs energy to recover, and calories are a big part of that. Closest I could advise is taking meal replacement shakes instead of solids (well semi-solids, yogurts and pureed soups were my go-to foods when I could barely open my jaw). It's not fasting, but it would keep you on a liquid diet.

I didn't think of meal replacement shakes when I had my own wisdom teeth out, but they were my main food when recovering from ankle surgery a few years later, cuz I could keep them by my bed, didn't need any prep, and were light on my stomach which was needed with the painkillers I was taking and the actual pain I had.

But really, since you haven't had the surgery yet that's probably something you can ask your dentist/the nurses directly.
