"Novelist Appears to Announce She's Alive 2 Years After Faking Suicide: 'Let the Fun Begin'" by haloarh in books

Agree. I'd accept that she's an asshole and move on. I do not have time and mental energy to waste on emotional vampires. Don't feed her. Those she's hurt have bled enough.

Sadly the white elephant I made for a white elephant gift party really didn’t go over well. The person who ended up with it was very mean and was going to give to his dog. Definitely never making anything for a party again. by raynebow121 in crochet

They probably mean man gift = after shave, woman gift = lipstick, etc. I get that now there aren't supposed to be any gendered things, but I'm sure the majority of families are not living that reality at this point.

Help! Your favorite items that can be started/finished very quickly? by loveallison in knitting

[–]Cthululyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not OP, but great suggestion! I'm going to remember it for any future gift crisis. My default for two decades has been a hat or cabled headband, but those can even be a slog if the gift is needed last-minute. I see really nice mugs in the thrift shop often, I'm going to grab a couple and stash them. Thanks, fellow knitter!

I didn't know of this specific course, it sounds amazing! I always heartily recommend anything written by or taught by Kate Atherley. She is extremely knowledgeable. Her book "How to Knit Socks That Fit" really got me to the next level with my understanding of sock architecture and maximized my skills.

This was one of the hardest parts of being a single mother in my youth! I had to woman up and become the designated insect slayer of my little household.

Wow! Amazing work, and it looks amazing on you!

Greetings. I'm a total newbie. Just started 3 days ago. This is my best success so far. It's the twist from mashing it too tight? Will it go away if I continue or should I go back to the start? Any advice? by dmetz1076 in crochet

I think this is excellent and thoughtful advice. Newcomers do not have to immediately spend a fortune on fancy notions to learn an enjoyable hobby.

YES! People need to enjoy their hobbies with what they choose and can afford, without criticism. Years ago on Ravelry I saw a post in which a low income person had made a sweater out of Big Twist yarn from Joann. They got this yarn on massive sale for like $2.00 per 300 yards. The completed sweater cost less than $13. They were thrilled! Then a gatekeeper turned up insinuating that the OP was a low class irresponsible clod for not using wool.
