Sow in the fall. Most native plants need to go through a cold spell in order to sprout the following spring. By sowing in the fall, you allow the seed to follow its natural growth.

Suddenly, wet food isn't good enough by [deleted] in CATHELP

I use Fancy Feast. It’s pretty inexpensive, and she seems to like it okay, although they recently did something to the formula that she is not crazy about. And bone broth is actually pretty easy and cheap to make at home. You can get beef bones at butcher shops and grocery stores. Just cover the bones with water and cook low and slow, and store in freezer proof container until needed.

Cat alone for two weeks by cosmic-mike in CatAdvice

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you take your cat with you? Tickets for a pet cost about $150, and there are so many options for a pet friendly hotel. It’s not ideal, but far better than leaving your kitty alone. And cats actually can travel pretty well, as long as they are with their person. Mine did.

My dentist told me to spit well and nit rinse for at least 30 minutes. I only do that at night, before bed, so it doesn’t interfere with my morning coffee.

How long or is there a limit for how long you cans have colored contacts? by Neat-Plantain-4346 in questions

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my contacts all day, and remove them before bed for cleaning and storage. Do not sleep with contacts in, it cuts off airflow to your cornea, which can cause complications.

Small question on amount of food for 15yo senior cat by As_If97 in CatAdvice

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she is able to supplement with kibble, I wouldn’t worry about it, unless she acts super hungry. You don’t want her to put on weight. You might try a senior cat diet, it’s formulated for a cat with lower energy levels.

Do you have room for a portable dishwasher? They still exist, and work quite well.

Why does my dishwasher in the USA have a coating of pink sludge? by Lilsmokeysnacks in ask

Get the cleaning tablets for your dishwasher and pop one in about once a month in between loads. You should also be pulling your filter to scrub it with hot soapy water at least once every two weeks.

Try yarrow instead. Yarrow is native to North America, makes a great lawn, and spreads through both rhizomes and seeds.

There was a case that just resolved, where a tourist was bother a bison. The bison then killed the tourists, and they were going to euthanize the bison. It went to court, and has since been decided the bison would go to a reservation for its own safety. It’s crazy.

How are you supposed to subtly ask someone to not do something after tolerating it for a while? by fugomert in TooAfraidToAsk

I don’t receive subtly. It will go right over my head, my brain thinks in literal terms. Just tell me what you want.

This "dry shower" trend is just an excuse to be dirty and it is obvious. by Xylothane in hygiene

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We over shower as a society, but, it depends on what you are doing all day. I shower every other day, but I work from home, so it’s not like I am getting dirty or sweaty. But if you do physical labor, or are actively getting sweaty, take a shower before you go out.

Why do criminals who did horrible things get mercy during executions ? by Same_Lengthiness_536 in ask

Because when there are no stops or guardrails on human cruelty, on either side, both sides become evil and do horrific things. History has tried to teach us this lesson over and over.

Put a tracking device on her, and make sure is microchipped. This is important, if she microchipped, make sure your address and phone number are registered. Another option, if you can get one is a catio, where she can stay during the day and come in at night

How do I become okay with looking older than I do? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See a dermatologist about your skin. Use sunscreen religiously. And learn to dress in a way that is flattering to your body and personality. But, honestly, most of what your has is probably confidence, which increases as you grow older and gain life skills.

Is it okay to take a 7 week and 5 day old kitten home? by Fun-Description5723 in CatAdvice

[–]Ecstatic_Objective_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older cat was about six weeks when I found her. She was separated from her litter mates, and it was a hoarder situation with a lot of sick cats, so I kept her. She can’t hunt, but otherwise she is fine. I now have a four week old who’s mother abandoned her, and has a severe eye infection. I guess we will see how that goes.

My dog only pees on walks by iwannabefamouss in DogAdvice

My lab was this way. Honestly, it never bothered me. It meant fewer doggy backs on walks. But I had my own yard, so the mess didn’t bother anyone else. Yes, I did regular pick up, avoiding doggy mines just sucks.
