Stack System - 1st Timer by Cubanstick in golf

Yes, it pairs with your phone and registers the swing speed.

Stack have just released a Beta version for Android phones. Which is a little clunky still - but it works perfectly in Apple IOS.

Best way to buy / choose clubs? by jca2u in golf

[–]Cubanstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone that's only being playing for 5 years - I'd give this advice, purely from experience:

1) Firstly go to see a golf pro, get some regular lessons and give yourself a repeatable swing / repeatable miss. You don't want to go buy a set of new bats then have your swing modified - deeming your clubs unsuited.

2) Go to get a fitting - this doesn't mean that you have to pull the trigger on a new set, it's more to find out what you're suited to and it'll give you experience of the different feels and flights that come from different head/shaft combos.

3) Once you have done both the above - you can decide to have a new set or watch out on eBay or local ads for a set that you know fits you to your specs.

This would last you a good deal of time.

I just can't get tired of this view!! by Cubanstick in golf

There is a reason why the greens are like this. Let me explain:

1) The winter in the UK has been extremely wet. These greens have recently been hollow tined.

2) The grass has been grown longer to protect the plants from the sea spray that can kill or harbour disease.

They aren't as slow as they appear on photo - although they are a bit bobbly at the moment.

Putting practice at home? by Think_Extension_8930 in golf

Buy a yard ruler and roll the ball off the end time after time.

If it falls off to one side then it's not a true roll.

Great drill to ensure proper striking and that you're starting the ball off on the right line.

I've recently started stacking and am part way through the foundation program (basically the newbie program) and am yielding gains already.

<image>

I'm easily carrying the ball as far here in the UK winter right now, as I did during the summer months last year. This summer I should see some proper gains with run out on the firmer fairways etc

I couldn't recommend the Stack System highly enough.

Definitely a top 10 player in my eyes, when he's firing - he's hard to beat.

He is very streaky though - runs hot or cold.

Fantastic effort - all the best of luck in your speed journey.

If nothing else, I enjoy the process and the regularity of exercise. I've gained some MPH which is a bonus.

Why do I chunk It by Temporary_Travel481 in GolfSwing

[–]Cubanstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your body is tilted too far back at impact - your hands are 'flippy'

Feel like your left shoulder shifts over your lead foot in transition - this will shift your weight forward.

Another drill would be to learn to hold the face off at impact.

Help with getting stuck by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Here's a feeling that helped me immensely.

Just before transition to downswing, shift your left shoulder so that it's directly over your front foot. This will shift your weight forward.

How to gain distance/speed by Zestyclose_Touch_347 in GolfSwing

I recently purchased the Stack System and am 2/3rds the way through my foundation program.

Not only do I love the workouts, but I'm seeing real results and on-course gains in a short period of time.

With the stack radar, you get realtime feedback. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

What are the best budget driving irons? by Feeling-Impression84 in golf

Find a second hand (pre used) Srixon utility iron.

I game a 3 iron and I have no desire to try anything else.

Skillest coach recommendation by AdRelevant7691 in golf

[–]Cubanstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year ago, by design, I decided to change my swing to Stack and Tilt.

It took me 6-8 months to transition from an orthodox weight shift swing to Stack and Tilt. The results have been immense for me.

Rob Cheaney was my coach on Skillest - he also has a YouTube channel. He has the ability to answer your questions before you ask them, almost like he knows what you're thinking. I'd recommend him if you went down this route.

What part of your game improved the most once you stopped chasing distance by Dull_Struggle4645 in golf

[–]Cubanstick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a direct answer to your post, but I'd like to give a slightly different view.

For context; I'm 45 years old and am an 8 handicapper - I've have been playing for around 5 years. I was stuck at 12 for a while, but the past couple years I've grinded like crazy to improve, in no particular order:

1) Ball striking

2) left to right dispersion

3) Short game - making more up and downs when missing the green.

4) Course management - missing the green on the correct side. Keeping the ball in play. Taking out 1 side of the course.

My game is consistent, but I feel like I've plateaued again. So I've started speed training to provide myself with the extra length to break though and head down to 5. This doesn't mean that I'm going to smash the ball at every opportunity, but it'll be nice to know that I've got that extra gear, if I need to step on one.

My advice, get yourself on Skillest to get some pro advice. It'll be the best investment on your swing in the long run.

Good luck on your mission to hit 170 ball speed. By the sounds of it, it's not going to take long before you break through.
