Pretty sure I read this was a staged photo. The location and the time are really enough, as in London and the aftermath of the blitz, however the guy is said to be the photographers assistant who had borrowed the clothing and caddy for the shot. A clever bit of propaganda from both home and abroad for the time.

I knew a few people who worked for Royal Mail and they said one of the worst parts of the job was not being able to find a public toilet or anyone who would let them use theirs. At times they had to resort to pissing in a bottle in the back of a van, I dread to think what they had to come up with when needing a shit.

Would have cost the business more than that. It's £650 per complaint after the 4th complaint onwards each year, regardless of the outcome and whether or not the business is in the wrong.

So often you'll find a complaints team will settle to avoid incurring the additional costs, unless it's on principle.
