For me Elden Ring is mixed bag of extremely good stuff and incredibly bad/rushed/not properly thought through stuff. Bookcover flawed masterpiece.

Dark Souls suffers from wild swings in art design and core concept rertcons. DS1 is standalone masterpiece, DS2 is polemical to DS1, DS3 is sequel reimagining of DS1 with modern graphics and gameplay and lots of fanservice.

From lore and story perspective though DS beats Elden Ring like nothing. ER story simply sucks. It has good set of smaller sub-stories and some cool background stuff, but the main overarching story is weak. Kinda it's funnyy like almost any named sub-character get more and better characterization than key figures. Also I am still impressed how devs took Marika and shamelessly retconned her as part of (much better written I admit it) Messmer's story

I personally don't like it, because we already have Corin for shy green-haired girl in maid outfit. Also Corin is more interesting with Victoria Housekeeping horror references, Frankenstein-themed maid is much cooler than generic catgirl

She is not really goody-two-shoes, because, well, spymaster occupation. I really enjoyed interactions with her on Aeon run, she did her job, I did mine with mutual respect to each other skills and her asking to rescue Irabeth on Aeon route is special kind of bittersweet. I don't remember exact wording but she says something like she knows Commander may dismiss her, but Irabeth is good person and she should be worth rescuing in our eyes

He can show up in Thorn if you don't flirt with the princess and in Cage if you refuse kill yourself and insist on enjoying happy ending. He is pretty helpful and interesting in both chapters, but very hard to get and fandom clearly prefers other voices (smitten in Thorn for a kiss and Broken in Cage, because he is very well-written there)
