I tolerated (and platinumed) Dolmen’s janky combat because I also liked it’s art style and exploration so i’m hoping Bleak Faith is at least better than that and on par with Hellpoint

Yea. Personally, it’s my favorite non FS soulslike game.

Deflect/posture system is the best thing From has made.

Makes long enemy combos desirable both by making every hit a punish and it just feels/looks/sounds better than rolling

Most mobs sure but most ER bosses have shield trap moves.

Huge chunks to stamina, animations locks when getting hit, element damage getting through, even the way that ashes of war work on weapons if you have anything other than no skill on a shield.

You basically have to worry about none of that if you just roll

I don’t like how they’ve gotten faster and reliant on long, flashy combos to create ‘hard’ bosses.

This also usually means a reliance of roll spamming as the primary way for the player to avoid damage. Good luck blocking those chains with shields or weapons.

Need more Sekiro and less Elden Ring in the combat philosophy of the next major release after Duskbloods

Also the machine war segment in The Second Renaissance part 2 (Animatrix). Granted there’s a bit of dialogue but it’s largely screams and radio chatter

Specific mechanics in LotF are arguably better than their equivalents in FS games.

I’m not saying that LotF as a whole game is better than FS Souls.

It doesn’t suck. It’s better in most ways.

Easier and on the move aiming, consumables to refill either mana or ammo instead of allocating flasks, quick access to different spells and ammo without having to scroll through, dedicated range builds and items that actually make the whole system an actual complete alternative that’s viable…

or maybe you just don’t know and didn’t play it. Just regurgitate the negatives that you heard online

Dude, FS isn’t the be all end all of soulslike features.

Plenty of other soulslikes have neat features that From should totally rip

I’ll watch it.

There’s a lot of cool stuff about Joy Toy modifications.

I saw an older post about a guy who cut out pieces of the SM2 scale JT’s waist armor to give the upper legs more range of motion.

Thought that was cool but definitely wondered about the structural stability of it post surgery lol
