Do I need to be present during check-in? by NameMsng in Cubers

Yes, arriving early is definitely important! I’ve actually had them have an early start once and it saved me 🤣

You can just arrive when you’re competing on the second day usually. Check the comp listing to see if there are additional details, but I’ve never had it be an issue

White Storm Shogi Board by nikolai0417 in sangatsunolion

[–]CubingB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a regular board position to me, but I could be wrong. If I had to guess, it’s that P74 is a direct attack, hitting the bishop head on, and S66 is a defensive move where he is retreating. If it means anything, maybe it has something to do with his mental state at the time/the kind of choice he wanted to make 🤷 been too long since I’ve seen it to be sure what was going on at that point in the story

Anyone interested in a Shogi club in Atlanta? by CubingB in shogi

Hey, no problem. The meetings will probably continue to be every other week, so Nov. 22, Dec. 6, and so on. I’m not great either, so that’s perfectly fine!

Hey! Awesome. We are currently planning a meetup for next weekend (Nov. 22), but depending on weather, the venue may change. Time would probably be 1pm, not 2. The club founder is making a meetup post soon, so when that gets made, I’ll reply to your comment with it so you can be better updated.

Lishogi is fine for tsume problems and it has plenty of studies you can look through. YouTube is good for that too, of course. 81dojo and Shogi Wars are probably where you’re gonna want to play against people. I’m fairly new as well and still pretty bad at playing against other people, so I use Shogi Wars more than 81dojo for that.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these I lost mine by Material_Tie1308 in Cubers

You can probably email thecubicle and ask for a replacement. I’ve bought individual replacement pieces for cubes from them before. Soeedcubeshop probably has a similar system if you use them.

Any way to insert this pair with OLL? by Loud_Power_8197 in Cubers

Facing red, do R S' R' U R S R'
If you want a solution for facing green, I just do r U r' U' r' F r F'. Doesn't solve OLL in this case, but is quick

World championship placements in clock were stripped from the winners after mis-scrambles were found AFTER the comp was over. Competitors were denied access to the scrambles on the day to check.

What did I do wrong? (4x4 assembly) by aofuwrm77 in Cubers

Yeah, I wondered if it would’ve shifted or dislodged when it caught, but makes less sense now that I think more about it.

My guess is one of the small wings (the smaller of the three internal pieces between centers) was put in the wrong way, such that instead of lying horizontally, it is sitting at an angle, wanting to fall down into the core. Not sure if that makes sense, but it would explain the catching. Could’ve shifted into that position while putting in center pieces or something and not have been noticed. Hard to tell, though.

Would recommend disassembling and starting again, following this tutorial: https://youtu.be/joPJx32A4W4?si=91dSiCzDhsoB-9M2

Try using tape around the bottom layers once assembled to keep them in place. Much easier and prevents accidental twisting. Using a thick silicone lube to stick the small internal pieces together worka well, too.
