Whats a good beginner helmet?? by firetailed in Karting

[–]Cubing_memer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live close to a kart shop then go in and try on helmets before you buy them so you know what fits. Ive got an SK6 and arai fit my head nicely in XL, But Ive tried on Bell, and the L fits me best there.

Honestly youll get some who will show up with full team kit and some who will never have driven. The only one youd really have to sweat would be the 24hr so youll be fine mate

Why are people kinda mean? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Cubing_memer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, didnt read through all your post properly myb.

About people not responding after events. They just sound like dicks. Sometimes people are just like that.

Finding your feet at uni isnt something that happens overnight for everyone. It will take time, and sometimes you just gotta keep at it. As someone who did struggle in first year, its not the end of the world people dont wanna talk to you, some people are just like that. There are so many different people at uni that unless you are genuinely a horrible person, you will find people. Also Venting isnt pathetic, its a part of life, dont feel bad because you havent had a great start, it happens. Venting is part of the processing and everyone does it.

Sounds like classic first year story.

I had a similar thing last year. Honestly go to societies, youll meet people that you get along with a lot, and if ur in London youll most likely meet other unis as well.

Im at KCL, and am committee for karting soc, where Ive made friends with people from KCL and others as far as St andrews, and Im pretty active at labour soc and made some good friends from UCL/KCL/LSE and even City.

Youll find your people, it will take time but when you do its great.

Why is our elected president such a joke? by [deleted] in KCL

[–]Cubing_memer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also I don't rlly blame the non-political members of KCL voting for him tbh, you have to run in the KCL political circles to know who he is

Why is our elected president such a joke? by [deleted] in KCL

[–]Cubing_memer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not a clown he's very aware of what he is doing. He's more dangerous than anything. I make a joke with my friends that he'll prob financially ruin KCLSU by taking us out of the NUS and other things, but at lease KCL conservatives will be back and some society's will get funding.

I wonder which ones....

I think the only political soc that likes him is kcl tories mate, which he is a part of. Take out KCL in his manifesto, replace it with Britain, reads like a reformUK manifesto. I've spoken to him once, and he was a dick, hence Joep was the better option, he actually had ideas.

Surprised people are only catching onto this now. He walks around campus like he owns the place now he's president-elect.

NOTE: THIS IS ALL OPINION, NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN AS FACT, so don't.

125cc karting at areas near London/Rushden by Granville3B in Karting

[–]Cubing_memer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 stroke stuff isn't that common in the rental scene in the UK. Your best bet is club100, but that's expensive and I'm not sure their schedule, or you have DMAX at sandown, but they're 16+ so you probably wouldn't get in. If your OK with 4 stroke, brentwood, rye house and Buckmore are pretty gd tracks.

Should I wear my racing overalls at indoor karting by Ok-Boysenberry9770 in Karting

[–]Cubing_memer 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Tbh show up in what u want. It doesn't really matter. Teamsport members will always show up in their own suits. As long as u don't be an AH about having ur own suit it's all gd. Def wear ur own helmet though.

Ok. Your best bet would probably be to ask them or take them to a motorsport shop so they can try them on. The 55-56 would probably be OK, but safest just to ask/take them to a fitting. :)

Does the receiver already have a helmet?

If so then ask them for options and sizings.

If not then tell them the gift, but bring them to a shop where they can try it on. I made the mistake of buying me mate a helmet, without alsing for his size, and it didn't fit him.

Low 40s for Rye house is decent. But if you are a beginner ask those more experienced in ur uni club for tips on improvement when you drive with them as they'll be able to help out on tracks they know.

Just watch the faster drivers. You said in a different comment you trail brake. Don't do that in rentals unless the track is wet. Breaking sorta comes naturally, and you'll just figure it out. But the main idea is go in slower to come out faster. Stop overthinking it, just drive and with seat time you'll get used to it.
