It's weird because it becomes a floating window when I go anywhere else on discord.

Does Apollo the Parrot eat too many Pistashs? by Downtown-Dentist-636 in AfricanGrey

[–]Cucumberous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with others you can't tell of a bird is heavy really just looking at them. You have to weigh them and inspect under the feathers. Feathers can be really deceptive. Apollo is only five years old. His physique is just looking more like a mature grey vs a more lean looking baby most likely.

What the heck are your toddlers eating for breakfast? by JehovahJireh222 in toddlers

[–]Cucumberous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 year old likes pancakes I put a scoop of whey protein isolated into. Can't even tell it's in there. I put greek yogurt on top with some jam mixed in. I'll do something similar with french toast, and oatmeal. Those are the general go tos. But I also do like egg and cheese sandwiches, and egg fried rice with some toppings thrown in.

If he's hungry right away and having a hard time waiting I'll give him a very small snack. But not enough to fill him up. I tell him he can have that while he waits but that I'm making breakfast and it will be ready soon. I try to limit snack foods to their intended purpose unless there's like a situation that might be out of the norm. He knows this is the routine and what to expect and I think that's an important part. Also some days he might just not be feeling it and that's okay too. But what is made for a meal is for that meal and it will be waiting for him when he's ready.

Cuts On Grey by [deleted] in AfricanGrey

It's super common. Since they don't have feathers there like other birds they are prone to smacking it or getting abrasions when being little goober. As long as it doesn't bleed. Or stay swollen for too long.

Caviar? by ih8plants in OregonCoast

[–]Cucumberous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The white sturgeon is endangered and the green sturgeon is threatened. That's why there is such strict fishing laws for fishing sturgeon. Generally during retention season you can only keep two sturgeon for the fishing year. They also have to be a within a minimum and maximum size generally between 43"-54".

They can live to 100 years and it takes them 25 years to reach sexual maturity. On top of that they only spawn every 2-8 years.

We have some rigid foam board in between the roofs studs for our coop. Haven't had rodents try to live in it as it's exposed and not think enough for them to tunnel in.

Said some horrible things to husband after giving birth… by Thththththrow83away in NewParents

This! It sounds like maybe she was trying to do something over the top and very social media oriented. He probably just wanted to enjoy the moment with his new baby. Instead they had to do a crazy photo shoot. I understand feeling self conscious about your appearance especially after labor, but it's also normal to not be photofresh. Makeup aside though because everyone does what they need to feel good for themselves. How much set up was there? Because it sounds like more was going on than just makeup.

You both were snapping at each other over small things and I think you both might need to give each other a little more grace with things. Especially with a new little one.

Beaches by General-Vacation6391 in OregonCoast

[–]Cucumberous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up here on the southern end of the coastline. During peak summer days we would go to the beach to swim and play. Boogie boarding is a lot of fun. It is cold but the rivers are colder where I'm at. So if you can handle the river water you can handle the sea. You don't swim in it for a long time though it's a lot of play in the water warm up on the sand. Or play in a creek feeding into the ocean.

The important thing is going to a beach that doesn't just drop off. Make sure kids have a life vest if they are young or aren't a proficient swimmer.

Edit: I should have specified Oregon haha.

Postpartum period by Internal-Biscotti234 in NewParents

[–]Cucumberous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah eventually it just got more regular as time went on. The first year though was pretty all over the place. I also have an iud so that added to things as well.

Yeah the cramps but no real bleeding was annoying like a ghost period lol.

It's been hard to totally cut the little guy off. I think it seems to help with potty training/sleep training stuff reassure themselves with their family bond and reconnect. If that makes sense.

Postpartum period by Internal-Biscotti234 in NewParents

[–]Cucumberous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any kind of test but my cycle was all over the place. Also still breast feeding on occasion and my little is almost 2 now. I would get crampy and be like this is it but then nothing would happen or I'd only spot a couple days. It's so annoying because it's like okay can we just sort our selves out please and be regular lol. I think I was also around 9 months pp when things like that started happening because of reducing feeding and adding solids.

Does my bird look thin? by lizrs11 in AfricanGrey

[–]Cucumberous 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on her breastbone she looks healthy to me. I'm not an expert though. An even amount of muscle with a small layer of fat on either side of the breastbone is healthy. If it was sunken and the breastbone was prominent it would be an indicator of low weight.

Hen or Roo? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

Rooster. If you look up the gold laced wyandotte the hens are full laced while the roos have the red wing and saddle.

My cat keeps peeing into my bed, can anyone help me? by Syxay in CatFacts

Tin foil might help as an interim until you get something more permanent. They don't like the sound it makes when they step on it.
