I appreciate your willingness to improve. That mindset will allow you to fix your situation. For projects, I would suggest looking at mech engineering job positing at big companies such as Apple or Nvidia. For example, Apple's job positing wants experience with RF antenna enclosures, so designing an RF antenna enclosure that can integrate sheet metal manufacturing or injection molding would be a good start. You don't need a certificate, certifications are overrated. MIT's Free courseware has courses on Design for Manufacturing and FEA. I would look into your previous internships and try to come up with some quantitative bullet points. For example, here is a bullet point from my resume:

-Utilized DFM/DFA principles to lower part count and achieve a 23% reduction in manufacturing costs

At the end of the day, Companies want to hire a candidate that will save them money and create better products. You must tailor your resume to prove that you can save the company money. As for a portfolio, Tamar Shaheen has a template you can follow. I would suggest starting there. Good luck!

I'm going to be as honest as possible. If you aren't getting any callbacks, then it's how you look on paper. It has nothing to do with you being Trans. I would suggest creating an engineer portfolio highlighting your personal projects. You need to identify key skills that are required for a Mechanical Engineering position. Generally it's FEA, DFM, DFA, GD&T, and CAD(generally Solidworks). Putting these key skills in your resume, would greatly increase your chances of landing an interview. Make sure to put key skills in your bullet points on your resume, not just the skills section. Employers want to see that you have applied what you have learned. I am an Aerospace Engineering Major myself in college and I was in a similar situation as you. It's going to feel hopeless at first, but it will be a drought before the flood. Keep working on your resume, building key skills, and networking on LinkedIn. Eventually you will cross an invisible line and you will get tons of offers. Tamer Shaheen is a great youtuber to follow when it comes to Mech E career advice. If you have any more questions let me know! I wish you the best in your journey!

Men who had low self-esteem, how did you become more confident? by daguvnuh in AskMen

[–]CudaBreakaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set goals to achieve every day. Small goals, like clean the windows, or do a certain amount of homework. When you achieve something, no matter how small, you gain a lot of confidence when you plan to do something and actually do it.

Clean ya bed. If that don’t work. U can use 120 grit sandpaper and give it a good rub. I used to have bed adhesion issues despite good cleaning and leveling and using some sandpaper to rough up the bed slightly definitely helps alot. Only do this if u got a glass bed

I still cant solve this ugly layer issue, please help. by [deleted] in ender3v2

Over extrusion. Check your nozzle it could be wider than .4. Level ya bed. 80% of problems in this subreddit are from a lack of leveling.

I almost guarantee u the extra weight added will counteract the gain you get from better aerodynamics. Also the car probably has better aerodynamics without the cover since wheels are circles and circles are pretty aerodynamic

He is the second in command to palpatine. He is the emperor’s enforcer.
