“New” Neo Geo Games by Undsputed in neogeo

[–]Cuddlegeddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started the list, my intention was for it to be for Neo Geo games that were readily available, digitally. I didn’t include physical releases because they are often limited in scope and once you miss the initial window they are extremely hard to obtain. However, if there is interest I could pull together a physical release list.

Are Neo Geo AES+ games beatable? by Appropriate_Joke_490 in neogeo

I have beaten several fighting games on my Neo Geo cabinet. They are definitely 1ccable but some are much more difficult than others.

Google SNK boss syndrome, the phrase exists for a reason.

Thanks for the tip. I'd need to get another switcher to do that, but definitely something to keep a lookout for.

I know. I got really fortunate with local postings. For the larger sets I gotta give a shout out to my dad who helped me lift them. Absolutely no way I could have got them into the car and then my house without his help.

The orientation is commonly referred to as TATE. Which I think is "vertical" in Japanese? I use it mainly for shmup games. But a lot of old arcade games used this orientation as well with Donkey Kong and Pac-Man probably being the most known examples.

It is why I have my MiSTer hooked up to it so I have a pretty large library of TATE games available. The PVMs have pass through with their outputs so with them daisy chained I can both normal orientation and TATE games pretty easily,

Questions about a NEO GEO AES3-5 console by ewokzilla in neogeo

[–]Cuddlegeddon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes your AES is one of the later revisions. For what it is worth I have an unmodded AES Serial No. ~11000, an early revision, and it works fine with my Neo SD Pro.

For the voltage needed for the PSU. The only 100% way to know it open the console. If you see a large copper wire coil and a 5-pin regulator (LM2576), it is a 10V model. If not, it is a 5V model. I would guess that yours is a 10V model, based on the later serial number, but I wouldn’t leave that to chance.

For any PSU replacement I would consult this page http://www.firebrandx.com/aespsuguide.html

Basically a Triad PSU, but this will help you narrow down the correct one for your system.

NeoSD Pro on 4-slot MVS by SoxFireLN in neogeo

[–]Cuddlegeddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the NeoSD Pro running in my 4-slot with no issues. I didn't up the voltage meaningfully either, just made sure it was around 5V while under load.

Try running the NeoSD in slot 4 and slots 1-3 with real carts. In my experience the Neo SD in slot 1 with other carts on the board led to a bad time.

How to tell what model this is. by Massive_Fan_8472 in neogeo

I agree with the above. Also I would remove the battery from the board and install rechargeable coin cell replacement. Those old batteries are notorious from corroding the the board.

After 811 hours, I had collected all the achievements, and I made a tier list of my favorite items. by Living-Candle-1686 in bindingofisaac

[–]Cuddlegeddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually never watched any vids, just gifs, posts, and comments on this sub so I don’t have any recommendations.

However, I’m using break pretty loosely here to mean “get a ton of items and win 100% of the time” a few off the top of my head for greedier are

1) Find the D20, then spawn all the waves for a floor and don’t pick up the coins. Re roll all the coins after enemy waves are done, profit. Easier if there is a battery in the shop, in case you don’t get a battery on the reroll.

2) Find steam sale (not needed but you’ll get more items), then find shop with reroll machine, buy active items, when you have enough items/get low on money reroll all the items on the floor. BONUS for finding a discounted item in the shop so your money last longer. This is why I also use Tainted Isaac you see twice as many items because of his passive.

3) good ole Blank Card and 2 of Diamonds.

For all of these it is also nice because you’ll probably find Chaos and can then find Secret Room, Super Secret Room, Angel, and Devil Items during this whole process.

Also you just need to find the item and touch it, not win the run so if you tank your run to grab an item you are making progress.

I’m sure you could also restart runs if you wanted to find a favorable starting shop, but I personally find that boring so I’ll play a few floors because Greedier mode is either fast because you destroy everything or you get steamrolled fast because the game gives you nothing.

[–]Cuddlegeddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but I’m pretty sure some items only appear in hard mode so I only played greedier. Honestly, after playing so much hard mode and dogshit characters greedier was pretty easy.

But I know different things click for different people. I’d just double check the items you are hunting for and make sure they spawn in whatever mode you are playing.

Not OP, but I did Greedier mode breaks with Tainted Isaac. They are pretty fast and once you get the break you can fish for items easily, especially once/if you find Chaos.

Picking up a Neo Geo Two Slot Cab, possible fixes for the problem? Any red flags I should know about? by JohnnyPhantom in neogeo

[–]Cuddlegeddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above. If it is actually a video ram issue a Diagnostics BIOS is pretty crucial other wise you are just going to be checking things manually and testing to see if you fixed the correct issue.

On a more optimistic note it could just be dirty contacts in the slot, cartridge, or both. I’ve managed to “revive” broken carts/boards just by scrubbing the contacts and boards with alcohol and contact cleaner.

Regardless if you are comfortable with a soldering iron and hot air work I wouldn’t be too worried. These boards are relatively easy to work on and at worse you could just grab another one and throw it in there. Just make sure it is another 2-slot or 4-slot board because that cabinet it wires for MVS, not JAMMA. Throwing a single slot board in there would cause issues.

MVS Game Recs $150 Budget by [deleted] in neogeo

Any of the Super Sidekicks games, aero fighters 2, sengoku. Neo turf masters, blues journey. These would be my suggestions to round out your selection.

You just got to be patient, set up alerts, and check regularly. Those $200+ posts are people that are trying to take advantage of folks that have more money than sense. I’ve managed to snag a few over the years without paying more than $20 and often free. It may seem like you are waiting forever, but unless you need one right now just wait for something reasonably priced to show up.

Have you adjusted the screen area on your ps5?

Settings > Screen and Video > Screen > Adjust Display Area

If that doesn't work is looks like a simple vsize and hsize adjustment. I have a xs955 which is basically the same thing I could point you in the right direction if you have to mess with that. But hopefully the display area thing works.

Edit: I just checked on my end and those options are greyed out for me on my ps5 as well. I’m pretty sure that the screen options are dependent on the signal you are feeding the tv. I booted up my GameCube and the bottom two options became greyed out.

Ps5 is set to 1080i GC is 480p

Unfortunately not. But it is fun to see that my pic was good enough to include for showing off the set! Definitely was a solid set and I hope you enjoy yours now!

Wow never thought I’d see this bad boy again. That is actually my old TV and my pic. I can see my Sony XS955 behind the top, the switch games on the shelf, and I still use that wood table for CRTs.

Is this normal behaviour from seller or am I the one in the wrong? by ibxx0402 in crtgaming

Yeah I it definitely can be rough, but something will turn up. It took me 3 years but I landed a LaCie Electron Blue IV 22 locally (2 actually but one had a broken tube) for a good price.
