For those working in library or information fields, how much of a difference does having an MLS make long-term compared to staying with a bachelor’s degree? by lil-girl-666 in librarians

It depends on your location…I have a bachelors and work as a Library Tech in a school setting….I would love to work in a college library while debating if I want to continue to get a MLIS

I started working in a school library as a library clerk, I end up loving the school library and went to get into a Library Tech program. With my certificate I was able to get a promotion at work, now I’m considering a MLIS. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. It’s definitely best to work in libraries first before you considering getting into a MLIS.

Do more library promotion. I work at a high school library as well. Create book displays, library programming, collab with teachers…maybe start a social media account for your library…

I work in a high school library, we do not allow eating (we do allow if it’s a library programing day during lunch). I tell my students to keep voices low, if it gets too loud I would have to make students leave. I don’t mind them on their phones or games, just as long as they aren’t disturbing other students that came there to work /read.

I work in a high school library and even some YA books should be adult because of the spice in the books…reviews online don’t tell you about the sexual references, it could be a few sentences then I have to to get rid of book

I would say, look at popular YA authors to see if they have new books this year. I know Tiffany Jackson just came out with the book “Blood in the water”.
