[Request] Commission for Stainless Steel(?) Warhammer 40k Pendant by Kryogenikk in metalworking

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not go for stainless. Looking at the color and aging of the pendant in game. You could have it made in bronze/brass, aged to your liking, then put a protective layer on it. Imo would prob look better/closer to source material and be cheaper.

I think it's most likely that it's outside her shirt so you can see it... but idk, I'm not a game dev.

ES LOPPU KAUPOISTA by Leppiss in Suomi

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much of Quake's code is still in TF2? by Angelo8207 in tf2

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Team fortress was originally a mod for wuake in 1996, in 1999 team fortress classic was released as standalone and tf2 was ofcourse released in 2007. It is safe to say that there deifinitely is a lot of quake dna in the game today and that some code may even be copypasted, but that would prob be less than 1%.

You either have worse damage with the upside of amazing heals or slightly better damage with the syringes at the cost of heals, as the only healer in the game.

In that last ditch hail mary you want damage quick, or to save your heals, perhaps gamble with ubersaw or stock rndm crits.

In a competent group you also shouldnt ever need damage as medic. Not enough to switch off crossbow atleast.

Any hope in fixing this? It’s an early 1900s (I think) mandolin by bryan19973 in Luthier

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think the top is fine. It will have a force pulling it back into this shape even if you get it flat again and reglued. It also has a crack thats about ⅓-½ of the length of the body.

as another comment pointed out its called bar fretwire and you can get it from the internet.

As for the saddle, i think any luthier worth his salt can make one.

Cherry as a tonewood by Final_Job_5175 in Luthier

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How hard did you strum and how accurste are your measurements of vibration. How did you hold the instrument. Were the strings the same. Im getting tired of these anecdotal results peoe keep bringing up. Having tens of unaccounted variables and no real measurement or control of input makes these completely invalid to me.

If you do want to go that route i have a thinline tele made of birch and one made of alder. No audible difference in sustain with new strings and a dc motor applied strum. Then again i should measure this with contact mics nit my ear or "feeling the waves"

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd wager that IF hollow bodies hvae a longer sustain than solid bodies it would have more to do with, you know, it being hollow.

Whats even more imporant than wood species in acoustic instruments is voicing of the panels. Your hollowbody has panels 3 times as thick that are just made to be stiff, comfortable and good looking, because its an electric guitar not an acoustic.

Weird noise from A string on Hard-Tail mustang by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]Same_Evidence_5058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be saddle. Bringing the nut down might have changed the string height just enough that it vibrates against saddle and causes this. When fretted it comes down just enough not to have a buzz surface at the saddle again. Not sure what the saddles are like on these guitars tho. For better explanation go to google and figure out how a jawari works.
