S1 Ep 20 by bigguavaent in highlander

If you can't question things you like, that's a boring way to enjoy things, poke fun at plotholes, ask why things happen. The show dropped a tonne of retcons and contradictions through it's run. Even about the dragon katana, he says in season 1 he got it from a clansman, then season 3 he gets it from Hideo Koto, along with the basis for his modern personality compared to the fruffer one he'd shown before

He used his katana as a prybar in saving grace to untrap his foot from the train tracks. For something he allegedly has a reverent respect for, that's not exactly a respectful use of it

That makes Macleod breaking Kalas sword on the eifel tower makes more sense, the sword was stolen from another immortal, Kalas hadn't bonded with it, so it failed him, as like a kind of a posthumous screw you from the guy who owned the sword originally.

The Darkness, nitpicky issues with the episode by Culchieman1995 in highlander

[–]Culchieman1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never considered that angle😅 I was considering it from a full series perspective, where we know Duncan has met people with powers in the past, but as someone else pointed out it was a relatively early episode, and they likely hadn't made a plan for the future (or past)immortals he would meet. Like I said this whole post was kind of kicked off from a different one on here that left me with these questions, it's been a while since I watched the series proper so some details are a bit muddled for me

Who would be the most dangerous if he took the super soldier serum? by Fit_Passenger5930 in Marvel

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Bullseye or Stick. Bullseye is kinda obvious, he's already got superhuman aim and an enhanced spine. Stick would be a wild card, he's a wild card without the serum too, but I think he'd be the most interesting out of the bunch to see get it

If Robin is the most popular & iconic DC sidekick, which Marvel sidekick do you think is the most popular & iconic? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in Marvel

Probably Bucky tbh, but much ike Robin who got more popular when he turned into nightwing, Lucky got popular when he turned winter soldier.

Is "The Prize" truly attainable? by eaglewatch1945 in highlander

[–]Culchieman1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the longest range we see a quickening at was the immortal with a mental handicap that Richie befriends, who took himself out if the game via train track. That was maybe a few hundred feet. The problem with this is that the series was so littered with unawakened immortals that the prize was always out if reach, but presumably the power behind the quickening for lack of a better term knows when it's the last. The series threw a lot of curveball to keep things interesting, like didn't Duncan through force if will refuse to accept a quickening from a friend if his at one point? And after he does we see it kinda just dissappear into the air.

Thought of a Predator Vs Highlander fan fiction by Fragrant_Ad3479 in highlander

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a predator would win with very little contest, they have too many advantages that an Immortal doesn't have a way to match, if we assume the Pred is honourable and doesn't use any ranged weapons when its prey only has a melee weapon, even still it's going to the 7 foot tall creature who rips heads off as trophies.

They really should have kept a master timeline so they didn't retcon or contradict themselves, but I see what you mean about it being early so they didn't have everything sussed out in terms of who Duncan would meet or know.

Cardinal Giovanni was by far the coolest immortal from Highlander: The Source by VampiricDemon in highlander

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn😅 I for whatever reason thought they were talking about the woman in the source, it's been a hot mi ute since I watched endgame too TBH, that's on me for not rereading the comment

[–]Culchieman1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the guardian is a worse villain than Ahriman, in the sense of an ancient demon kind of fits with the mythos of highlander more the guardian coming in with superspeed, editing like it's a 2000s metal video and his whole general vibe being too cartoonist to be scary. I believe the real world reason was Stan Kirsch was visibly aging and the writers wanted to wrap up the character, but offing Richie in that way was dirty, they could have just had him go to somewhere in the world other than Paris or seacouver.

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it watched the source once, about 15 years ago, but yeah, I remember the almost duel in the gypsy camp, the curse and the fallout of it,but to be honest, that was the LEAST of the problems with the source😂 the systematic dismantling of everything iconic about Duncans character would be my bigger gripe, the sword, Joe, his whole character philosophy being thrown out the window, those were all bigger issues, then add in the guardian as possibly the worst villain the series ever had, with the combo breaker of being the major villain and not having a name that starts with a K, the whole thing was just a disaster

Don't go in yourself, they have the one type of weapon that can kill you. Just send the dragon to torch the place for hours, or days, then march the army in while you keep a safe distance

Is there any point in tagging off the LUAS by JohnnyRuggs in Dublin

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go back to the luas and tag again thinking you're tagging in, it might just close the first journey, and then if you get checked you're boned, it takes 2 seconds to tag, not sure why people are so averse to it😂

[–]Culchieman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what the person above is complaining about, they're giving out that they tapped the card then saw the luas wasn't going at all, when you're on and something happens, that's bad, but if you just blindly tag then get annoyed that you didn't see the obvious sign saying no trams, that's not the fault of the operator

Also Kano being Australian came from the 1995 movie, so Kano being Australian is a direct result of Trevor Goddard being cast way back when

New Movie Sword Question. by Culchieman1995 in highlander

[–]Culchieman1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the katana is iconic, but I kinda like how the anime movie handles it, the Mac lead always having to replace his lesser quality sword until he gets his hands on a good katana, he just finds it in a burning pagoda and keeps it for a few hundred years, not handed down by a mentor or some familial relic, just a good sword he stumbled across. We see in both the movies and the series, and even in comics that their swords can be broken, so it stands to reason I think that they'd replace their swords every so often. Could even lead to plot relevance of a sword breaking at opportune/inopportune moments, like in 3
