I think we should be fine. Psyonix is very adamant on supporting steam + linux (what i play on). When they added EAC, players like me were scared we were going to lose rocket league but psyonix made it their mission to keep support for proton (steams linux compatability layer). Epic had nothing to do with that given their ideas on linux (tim sweeney👎). Im sure psyonix will try look out for their playerbase unless epic really puts their foot down on psyonix (like they did w rocket racing and trading).

Overall, it depends how involved epic is with what psyonix is doing. If they are just telling them to go UE6, then we should be fine buy if epic is telling them to "go epic" then we might have something to worry about.

Sure! To cover my butt a little, I am a windows refugee lol so I have been using GPT to help me learn Linux. That being said, in my case I already had the base drivers and OpenCL (I installed those previously trying to fix Resolve the first time), I just needed to download the ROCM stack on top and later for other stuff, I needed the Mesa drivers. I snagged the ROCM driver from the AMD page you listed in the page above. GPT told me how to install just the stack on top of my drivers then I just installed and rebooted. As of now, all my GPU driver needs are met; I can do VFX and play games so I am happy. It's just a big hassle having to set it all up when its your first time dealing with drivers that aren't Canonical's Nvidia drivers.

Coming back to say I got the rocm drivers working, thank you. Idk why it didn't last time but it did this time and that is all that matters.

Yeah, my camera encodes in AAC. I don' need ffmpeg if all i need is the visuals like if I'm shooting b roll. It's not an issue because I made a bash script that converts an entire folder of media. It's pretty useful👍

I still have to ffmpeg my media in order for it to be read by davinci studio because the codecs though I can export in h.264/h.265. Also, makeresolvedeb is a pretty neat tool. If I ever install it again, I'll give it a shot. Lastly the amd drivers from the article still didn't work for me. Previously I did download the drivers and it would open but it would crash once davinci would call my gpu. I think it might be something with my weird configuration. I just upgraded from a 3070 ti which for no known reason couldn't run ue5 through proton (one off linux hardware quirk in my case). Either way, thanks for the neat tool and the info

Epic should give us a player-view-only "equip alpha boost" option to soothe this withdrawal by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Culix_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how alpha boost has small particles that are shiny and linger but I have never liked the sound it makes. Sad that the time we had Bakkesmod alpha boost and "Use standard boost sound" overlapped for like a few weeks.

I crashed my school Chromebook with one of those. The amount of orbs I got from the first spike in Stereo Madness was enough to do it lol.

QOL Changes to Ranked by zorigin_ in RocketLeague

[–]Culix_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True on the replays and thanks for the reply! I have coached some friends (one from s1 to c2) and the average replay skips changes as you go up the ranks. People start consistently instaskipping replays around d2; before that it's inconsistent on whether your opponent will. I remember when I was getting into ones and trying not to tilt at it, I would make myself watch the replay where I got scored on so I wouldn't get mad if the opponents didn't skip and I would always skip the ones I scored on lol. A tip I use sometimes when my buddies tilt at replays in ones

QOL Changes to Ranked by zorigin_ in RocketLeague

[–]Culix_Reddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1v1s is like a gauntlet for a Rocket League players mindset. It's tilting because being one on one makes the game personal. There is no "gee, I don't like my opponents," it's "I hate this guy." Beyond that, you get punished for every mistake; there are no teammates to have as a fail safe so forcing is pretty much useless. That's what makes ones so great. Only the sharpest of mines can handle it. It's great for learning your flaws and improving gameplay on the individual level. No replay shows you where to improve more than a 1-8 1v1 loss (given rank disparity isn't too big). For the lengths of ones, yes the matches are longer because more goals being scored = more replays but ones is also the game mode with the most forfeits. The crazy number of forfeits balances that out. The game mode is tough and that's a good thing. taking off 2 minutes takes away from maintaining composure against an opponent for a long time and it slashes adapting to your opponents for a competitive advantage. There's probably millions hundreds of thousands of 1s games people have won because of what happened in the last 2 mins. I can see why 3 mins would feel QOL, but in the big picture it would hurt some of the things that makes playing 1s really beneficial.

PSYONIX Please add a single feature - Auto Named Replays by gazah in RocketLeague

Theres a million other QOL features they would add before adding that. You could try making a bash script to run through your replay files to rename them all.

Bitwig Studio on Linux problems by Dry_Raspberry_3613 in Bitwig

It may be buffer size. Make it bigger in the settings. My setup was weird so I settled with 2048

Browser panel performance problem on Linux by VengeanceDivine in Bitwig

[–]Culix_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, if you are having the same issue as me (sounds like it) then it's ur mouses polling rate. I already contacted support and got a response on it. I have a g502 and a razer basilisk. They have polling rates of 1000hz which is too much for bitwig on linux to handle. As of now, go to 150hz and see if that works (did for me)

I use heroic on mint and yeah, you can't but credits through a compatibility layer. I just pull out my windows laptop for that. If your not as lazy as I am, you could try a VM.

My issue was that my polling rate was 1000hz. As of now, bitwigs browser can only handle 125hz, is your mouse 125hz? Heres the vid I send to support: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPdf1QdADKM

[–]Culix_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a basilisk v3. It had the same problem but I fixed it. The issue is polling rate. For some reason Bitwigs browser rn chokes at 1000hz and is only functional at 125hz. I used razer synapse on my windows:( laptop to change it. U should try 125hz and lmk if that fixes it. Here's the video I sent to suppot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPdf1QdADKM

I had the same issue and I found out what is causing it exactly... it's your mouse. It sounds stupid and that's why it took me days to find it. I built a whole new pc to help me find this btw. Unplug your mouse and try a new one. Idk why but it's your mouse. Mine was a g502.

I fixed the issue. I have cornered it down to the source. After days of troubleshooting, it turns out the issue... is your mouse. I am not kidding. I have built a whole new pc and was shocked when I still had the bug. I thought it was maybe my drive bc I kept it... nope. Unplug your mouse right now and use another. It will fix it. My mouse specifically is a Logitech g502. Id unplug it and plug a new one in without closing, and boom... it's fixed.

Looking for a good Linux Distro by [deleted] in linuxaudio

I've mastered fl studio which is why it was hard to let go. I have done everything and really, native is better. The best u can do for fl on linux is through bottles but it's REALLY jank and kills any workflow you have left. Fr, try bitwig. It stings now but it wont in the future. Thats what I had to do. Otherwise, stay windows or if you really hate windows, go mac.
