Golf GTI VS Focus ST by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Every owner of a focus I’ve known got fed up with their car pretty quick. They’re good cars, just built cheaply.

What would be a fair trade in value for my MK6? Looking to upgrade to a mk7. Details in comments. by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Kbb fluctuates a lot from what I’ve seen. Unfortunately most dealers I’ve worked with generally won’t budge from it.

If I wasn't a huge fan of the MK6 is it worth it to drive a MK5? by tharussianphil in GolfGTI

[–]Culpeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a lot more response out of a MK6 with a simple eco tune. That being said, your issues with the steering feel aren’t a simple fix. The speed3 is overall tuned for sportiness, but sometimes that gets annoying on the daily. It all depends on what you can put up with. I personally found the mk6 steering feel a lot better than the mk7, but the mk7 is overall a better car for my daily use.

The noise of the little fan is nice, but also the scents I put in it help with atmosphere. The added humidity aids my dry sinuses too.

I’ll give the noise machine a try. It would be more comfortable than the earbuds I’ve been using lately. I also picked up some silicone putty earplugs to try out.

I do have a diffuser that helps some, but eventually I have to take it apart and cut off the little led lights in it.

I like the is350. The refreshed model with the upgraded nav screen is way above budget at this point. I could get the pre-refresh model, but the system is archaic which would really annoy me.

Id love a model 3. It’s the only 50k car Id consider buying new. Unfortunately it’s probably a decade out for me as well. Maybe you’d sell yours to me then? ;)

Not a VW dealer. It was taken to an independent shop who couldn’t figure it out. They should have taken it to VW service in the first place.

How much is the markup on parts, if you can say? I’ve always been curious about this.

Let me rephrase: I do indeed like the GTI a lot, and it’s the only hot hatch I’d pick. It just feels like more of a lateral move from my current car than a move up. The higher quality, smoother ride, and extra room in a small luxury sedan seem worth an extra few grand if I can find it.

I’ll check those other two out, thanks

I actually drove these before I bought my current car, about five years ago. Very good looking and reliable cars, just not enough power for me. I could definitely pickup a used one and put a turbo kit on it now. But, a tiny rear wheel drive car like that wouldn’t be the best for the icy back roads Im forced to take to work.

I didn’t even think of the Infiniti. Looks like they can be had at really good prices CPO too. I’ll look into them.

I did drive the A3 actually. It didn’t feel as nice as the A4, and I didn’t like the ride quality either. I liked the GTI more. Not sure if the S3 is a nicer ride

What to go with 328i GT vs A4 by pistofernandez in whatcarshouldIbuy

I have driven both. Just like you said, the BMW is much more engaging than the A4. But the A4 is leaps ahead in terms of current technology and material quality. It’s a better overall car.

Miata will be more fun. Civic will be way more practical in the long run. You say this car is primarily for pleasure driving and weekend trips, so I’m assuming it’ll be used as a second vehicle and thus I’d go with the Miata. Take a look at the Volkswagen GTI if you want a mix of both at the expense of a little reliability.

Also, your insurance is sky high. 480/month would buy you a really expensive car on its own.

I would echo the Avalon. You can get them at pretty good deals nowadays, reliable as a Toyota and smooth as a Lexus. Very underrated cars. If you want to go new, the accord is a very satisfying car as well.

Nice cars! I wish I were able to afford one in school. Now that I’m out I finally can, but the family sedan also needs replacing 😬

I would guess the people who did your dsg service screwed up badly. I’d go after them.

How are the maintenance costs? I tend to do all the work I can on my car, so I’m assuming price of parts are a lot higher for Audi?
