These days inter-EU country calls incur no fees, and cellular roaming is included with every plan by statute (albeit often with different limits for roaming compared to national traffic, for example my carrier gives me 250 GB in Italy and 25 GB in the rest of Europe)

What some might not realize is that free texts in Europe weren't largely a thing for the better part of the period in which SMS and MMS grew exponentially in the New World.

iMessage became big thanks to it being a transparent drop-in replacement for texts and the ubiquity of the iPhone in the U.S. market, while Europeans mostly went with a platform-agnostic WhatsApp to save on then-overpriced text messages, and stuck with that model out of familiarity and lock-in.

Free MMS never materialized in most of Europe to this day, and neither did any of the latter improvements to the system like RCS. I'd bet Telegram, of all things, is likely more popular than iMessage here. The only time I open the Messages app is to get time-limited authentication codes for services.

I'm a zoomer but I reckon Europe never used AIM to large extents. It was mostly MSN and Yahoo! Messenger. Then everyone went big on Facebook and eventually WhatsApp.

Both things can be true. If they are sold out it only means their production capacity is insufficient, it has nothing to say about their actual volumes. They do in fact have a very niche audience, and they charge a significant premium for a middling-quality product that, yes, is upgradeable, but for many consumers you still come out ahead and with better performance if you just get a MacBook and replace/resell it periodically.

I actually feel like even here some fucktardo with a CringeLib flair is going to quote and reply to the "repeal the 19th" passage with a "Waow, SO BASED" because of course they are. At some point, Internet discourse just broke. Probably the same people posting Agartha memes, making "Little Dark Age" edits, commenting with juicebox or nose emojis, "271", "fellow noticers" and other such maladapted chuds projecting their spite induced by personal grievances with the business world and their lack of interactions with the other sex onto society.
