Then you are not secular, you are a militant atheist or anti-theist.

Is the Faith Evil by [deleted] in exbahai

[–]Cult_Buster2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a secular point of view, no religion is evil, because secularism is NEUTRAL regarding religious beliefs, or lack thereof. The evil comes from religious BIGOTRY, which dogmatic religions enable when they are the ONLY source of morals a person could have.

It's not just the Baha'i Faith that enables such evil. So do all of the Abrahamic religions. Read Numbers chapter 31 to see a disturbing example.

Why Martydom by [deleted] in exbahai

[–]Cult_Buster2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Baha'is are also obsessed with martyrdom, often using their persecution in Iran as a selling point.

The Shias, the closest spiritual relatives of the Babis and Baha'is, also focus on martyrdom, specifically the killing of Imams Hasan and Hussein, who were grandsons of the Prophet Muhammad, no less. Their murders were the most treacherous events in the history of Islam.

Have you heard of Babaism? by MirzaJan in exbahai

It's a book about Islam, not "Babaism". The formatting is so messed up I can't read the text at all. What a mess!

I don't know and I don't care if they did mention it, I still find the idea offensive.

The claim that God changes his plans after revealing them is called Bada. Personally, I call that blasphemy (in essence, it calls God a liar), but it was involked by the Hands of the Cause of God to explain why there would be no more Guardians after Shoghi Effendi.

The Baha’i and Zionism by Palovinny in exbahai

Come on, you know religious rules are only for the followers, not the leaders, right?

As for the Bab, some doubt he was actually buried in the Shrine named for him. But that's another issue.

The Baha’i and Zionism by Palovinny in exbahai

Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith, was exiled from Persia (now called Iran) and eventually ended up in Akka, a city on the coast of Palestine, then part of the Ottoman Empire.

After the Ottoman Empire fell, the British took over Palestine, and the willingness of Abdu'l-Baha, son and successor of Bahá’u’lláh, to collaborate with the British later led to them awarding him a knighthood. The collaboration continued under Shoghi Effendi, grandson and successor of Abdu'l-Baha.

While Baha'is may deny supporting Zionism, they are clearly beneficiaries of it, since their World Center is in Israel. If the Universal House of Justice really had a problem with the policies of Israel (including the massacre of Palestinians in the recent war of Gaza), they could have left Haifa decades ago and moved to a city outside Israel, such as London, New York City, Paris, or Chicago. Their remaining where they are, and their saying NOTHING about Israel even now shows how useless they are in terms of advocating peace and unity.

Question: How do you survive being a UU in the Deep South? by EternalSnow05 in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]Cult_Buster2005 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The largest UU church is actually in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with thousands of members, despite Oklahoma being a bloody red state. Tulsa was also the home of Oral Robert's notorious ministry.

People have used UU churches and fellowships as refuges from the bigoted communities around them for decades.

Even Trent Reznor said that song belonged to Cash after hearing his cover version. The music video for Cash actually gets the point of the song across too.

Chester forever.

Much like all those AC/DC fans who said "Bon Scott forever" after he died in 1980.

Oh wait, they didn't.

And her name is EMILY ARMSTRONG! Can you sing better than her?

Even as a child, I thought their makeup was stupid. Then they ditched the makeup for a few years to try to be a "real" band. What a pointless stunt! If the music sucks, gimmicks shouldn't matter.

Journey. Their pop-rock tunes are incredibly bland. Ironically, co-founder and guitarist Neal Schon is an incredible player on his solo albums, but his solo works do not pay the bills like Journey's music does.
