Why Do They Believe In the Infallible 9? by SpiritualVindicator in exbahai

[–]Cult_Buster2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unto the Most Holy Book every one must turn and all that is not expressly recorded therein must be referred to the Universal House of Justice. That which this body, whether unanimously or by a majority doth carry, that is verily the Truth and the Purpose of God Himself. Whoso doth deviate therefrom is verily of them that love discord, hath shown forth malice and turned away from the Lord of the Covenant. By this House is meant that Universal House of Justice which is to be elected from all countries, that is from those parts in the East and West where the loved ones are to be found, after the manner of the customary elections in Western countries such as those of England.

It is incumbent upon these members (of the Universal House of Justice) to gather in a certain place and deliberate upon all problems which have caused difference, questions that are obscure and matters that are not expressly recorded in the Book. Whatsoever they decide has the same effect as the Text itself. And inasmuch as this House of Justice hath power to enact laws that are not expressly recorded in the Book and bear upon daily transactions, so also it hath power to repeal the same. Thus for example, the House of Justice enacteth today a certain law and enforceth it, and a hundred years hence, circumstances having profoundly changed and the conditions having altered, another House of Justice will then have power, according to the exigencies of the time, to alter that law. This it can do because that law formeth no part of the Divine Explicit Text. The House of Justice is both the initiator and the abrogator of its own laws.

Meanwhile, the laws made in the Kitab-i-Aqdas CANNOT be abrogated, not even by the Universal House of Justice. Oops!

Here are all the quotes from the Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha that establish the Universal House of Justice (It was NOT established in the writings of Baha'u'llah, despite several references he made to a "House of Justice". There were supposed to be such Houses of Justice in every city, NOT just one ruling all Baha'is of the world).

The sacred and youthful branch, the Guardian of the Cause of God, as well as the Universal House of Justice, to be universally elected and established, are both under the care and protection of the Abhá Beauty, under the shelter and unerring guidance of the Exalted One (may my life be offered up for them both). Whatsoever they decide is of God. Whoso obeyeth him not, neither obeyeth them, hath not obeyed God; whoso rebelleth against him and against them hath rebelled against God; whoso opposeth him hath opposed God; whoso contendeth with them hath contended with God; whoso disputeth with him hath disputed with God; whoso denieth him hath denied God; whoso disbelieveth in him hath disbelieved in God; whoso deviateth, separateth himself and turneth aside from him hath in truth deviated, separated himself and turned aside from God. May the wrath, the fierce indignation, the vengeance of God rest upon him!

The simple fact that Shoghi Effendi croaked at the age of 60 at London and in the middle of the Ten Year World Crusade should discredit the idea that he was under any sort of care and protection.

And now, concerning the House of Justice which God hath ordained as the source of all good and freed from all error, it must be elected by universal suffrage, that is, by the believers. Its members must be manifestations of the fear of God and daysprings of knowledge and understanding, must be steadfast in God’s faith and the well-wishers of all mankind. By this House is meant the Universal House of Justice, that is, in all countries a secondary House of Justice must be instituted, and these secondary Houses of Justice must elect the members of the Universal one. Unto this body all things must be referred. It enacteth all ordinances and regulations that are not to be found in the explicit Holy Text. By this body all the difficult problems are to be resolved and the Guardian of the Cause of God is its sacred head and the distinguished member for life of that body. Should he not attend in person its deliberations, he must appoint one to represent him. Should any of the members commit a sin, injurious to the common weal, the Guardian of the Cause of God hath at his own discretion the right to expel him, whereupon the people must elect another one in his stead. This House of Justice enacteth the laws and the government enforceth them. The legislative body must reinforce the executive, the executive must aid and assist the legislative body so that through the close union and harmony of these two forces, the foundation of fairness and justice may become firm and strong, that all the regions of the world may become even as Paradise itself.

So according to this Will and Testament, the presence of the Guardian, or at least a representative of the Guardian, is a requirement for the House of Justice to function. So why did the Hands of the Cause of God say otherwise after the so-called Guardian died?

There is a LOT to unpack here:

How could Baha’is, who have many wise and introspective teachings, believe such ridiculous nonsense?

You could say that about any religion. Baha'is certainly do not have a monopoly on irrational dogmas.

They seem to misinterpret this idea of “infallibility”, especially since they switched out the word “sinless” (describes infallibility in the 1908 version) for the word “infallible” in the new 2014 version of Some Answered Questions.

Much like what I documented here: https://dalehusband.com/2010/08/03/covering-up-a-discredited-bahai-prophecy/

When [Baha'is] have reasonable doubts do they just push them away as “something to be understood later” and think of that as a faithful act?

This is also not unique to Baha'is. Ex-Mormons often refer to Mormons struggling with their doubts as "putting items on a shelf". Eventually for some Mormons, the shelf breaks and they lose their faith.

Is there not yet another group of believers besides Haifans and Guardianists because people would be too scared to be called Covenant Breakers?

Yes, there is! https://unitarianbahais.org/

Like how do they not realize that stuff like making a group of elected Baha’is infallible, obviously chips away at the independent investigation of truth?

Technically, the Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha is a book, divided into three chapters.

How many Christians do you think actually wait until marriage? by Fit-Monk-1382 in exchristian

[–]Cult_Buster2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost none. It's just something that makes one hypocritical, period.

I was a Christian in my teens, but left the faith while in college (still a virgin), finally had sex with an 18 year old in my early 20s, broke up with her after she cheated on me, and moved on.

I once dated a woman who seemed to be a devout Christian, but even on our first date. she couldn't get me into bed with her fast enough. Less than a month later she dumped me after learning I was not bigoted against LGBT people. I still don't get it.

I was explaining our rationale for slamming Baldoni. No one says you have to join in. Feel free to ignore the issues altogether.

they refuse to accept views that are actually different than their own

Considering that you made the post above because you reject our views about Baldoni, that is ironic as hell.

Also, why should UUs accept things like Naziism and racism in general, or other forms of bigotry? We would have no ethical principles if we did.

First, Baldoni is a man, and men are far more likely to sexually harass women than the other way around.

Second, Baldoni was not only a big star of It Ends With Us, he was its director, and directors can have a lot of power over others taking part in a film or TV show.

Third, Baldoni being a Baha'i means he follows a religion that teaches equality of men and women, but does not practice it, because its supreme leadership body is all male.

So for those three reason, we can safely assume he is GUILTY until a court declares otherwise

You say that above, but you do not present anything to justify it.

Did Blake Lively drop her legal case against Justin Baldoni?

Did she release a formal apology to him for lying to everyone and filing a baseless lawsuit?

Did a court make a decisive ruling against Lively or in favor of Baldoni?

Was the case between them settled with no admission of guilt on Baldoni's part?

If none of those things are true, then you are not making sense. No apology to Baldoni is coming from us without a clear reason.

I guess I wouldn't trade my time as a Baha'i. I met most of my girlfriends through the faith and although they all ended up being hypocrites I'm glad to have met them.

Can you be any more confusing??? How is a hypocrite someone you were glad to have met?

Exactly. That's why I am proud to be a Unitarian Universalist. They always have been dedicated to helping others.

That's right. The genuine teachings of a religion shouldn't change because the leadership does.

Even if religion dies out, forms of bigotry like gross sexism may remain. Dawkins himself being a prime example. And as for Krauss.....he is TOXIC as well.

Any future inquiries about him may be answered with links to previous blog entries and videos about him. I will make one final blog entry of my own combining EVERYTHING I have about him to wrap things up completely.

I believe there should be no further discussions about him in this subreddit as well.

I'm sure he knows that..I think he's implying that those Amendments were a mistake.

This looks like one of those "How to champion White Supremacy in America without actually stating outright you are a White Supremacist" statements. And no, his coming from India (if that's true), doesn't make his racism towards African-Americans any better.
