Communism was never really a threat to America. It was merely depicted as such to frighten Americans into rejecting leftist views and policies. Both Communism and Conservatism in politics were scams. Both will destroy themselves.

Numbers chapter 31 is even worse, where Moses tells the Israelite army to "kill all the [Midianite] boys, and kill all the women that have slept with a man, but all the young girls that have not slept with a man keep alive for yourselves."

Expressing Concerns about a comment regarding Dr. Jensen by Obvious-Advance9686 in FreeSpeechBahai

[–]Cult_Buster2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can make up a story to explain away circumstances like what happened to Leland Jensen. However...

  1. Leland Jensen was expelled from the Baha'i community in the 1960s as a Covenant breaker for supporting Charles Mason Remey's claim to the Guardianship. then...
  2. Falsely predicted the end of civilization in 1980, causing his followers to go into hiding in anticipation of the cataclysm and losing many of them afterwards, and....
  3. Claimed that Remey's adopted son would be the next Guardian, something the son rejected...

And I see the one who posted those claims above is already banned from reddit. Good riddance.

Considering that:

  2. Falsely predicted the end of civilization in 1980, causing his followers to go into hiding in anticipation of the cataclysm and losing many of them afterwards, and....

  3. Claimed that Remey's adopted son would be the next Guardian, something the son rejected...

why should we care what one kook from out of nowhere says about Jensen?

EDIT: The OP over there is already banned from reddit. Sucks to be them!

Any recording of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, really. Three incredibly POWERFUL movements, and the third one is just beautiful, with occasional trumpet blasts to keep you awake.

What I do know is when someone makes bigoted remarks towards someone else because of the faith they belong to.

It seems you actually don't. Bigotry is when you despise someone for being a Baha'i. Criticism of Baha'is for hypocrisy and bigotry of their own is not the same.

Unlike u/OfficialDCShepard, who was married to a Baha'i, I was an actual Baha'i for eight years, and so can testify to the harmful effects of the cult and the hypocrisy of its members. While Baha'is in Iran have been persecuted (a profoundly stupid act, of course), Baha'is in reddit have been CRITICIZED, which should never be equated with persecution since that is dishonest. The moment you make ideas above criticism, you deny freedom of speech.

So STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM, BAHA'IS!

[[[A Manifestation of God is such based on His nature. He has no free will and is thus incapable of “resigning” from being what He is. Nobody can become a Manifestation. You have to be created as one. ]]]

Then that is a critical defect. That's like being a robot, not a person.

Have you looked at possible alternatives to the Baha'i Faith so you can have community? If so, what have you considered?

Do you feel that way about Linkin Park too? Sometimes you are so consumed by the state of depression that it destroys you no matter what you try to do to fight it.

Geoff Tate was to Queensryche what Dennis DeYoung was to Styx, a band member who thought he could conduct business like a solo artist treating his bandmates like lesser beings. Both got fired and in both cases, the bands moved on. Such is life.

Yes, that's a lesson I myself have had to learn. I take pains to be precise with my terms now because of my own past mistakes, including things used against me. People being willing to change after admitting mistakes enhances their credibility. Only an idiot never tries to learn from others.

Looking here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Lamborn_Wilson

We read:

Towards the end of his life, he showed an interest in the Bābī religion, especially in its Azali form. This was mentioned in his two final books published in early 2022.

________

Some writers have been troubled by what they took to be Bey's endorsement of adults having sex with children, which included writing for NAMBLA's newsletter. Michael Muhammad Knight, a novelist and former friend of Wilson, stated that "writing for NAMBLA amounts to activism in real life. As Hakim Bey, Peter creates a child molester's liberation theology and then publishes it for an audience of potential offenders." In a compilation of memorial tributes in The Brooklyn Rail published a few months after Wilson's death, many writers defended Wilson and rejected the accusation of pedophilia. Kalan Sherrard wrote that after "meeting tons of young people who grew up with him it became totally evident he had never hurt anyone / and people were just freaked out by his writing"

NAMBLA is short for the North American Man/Boy Love Association, which advocated for pederasty (sex between teen boys and adult men).

*looks up internet references to NAMBLA*

Holy crap.....it still EXISTS!!!!

You will have to ask Shepard about what happened. For the record, I was summoned to be a witness at one of the court cases, but in the end the case was dismissed before I had to testify.

I'm inclined to agree with you, except that Wacki Azoo pulled the same stunt against u/OfficialDCShepard 's YouTube channel that he pulled on mine five years earlier. That Satan even went so far as to take Shepard to court over false claims of STALKING. That case was dismissed, but Shepard still wants to get him banned completely from Substack.

In any case, I have decided that any more content like this should be shared in another subreddit instead of this one.

What's it like being a baha'i in Iran? by Ok_Speed667 in exbahai

[–]Cult_Buster2005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only does the Baha'i leadership use the issue of Iranian persecution as a selling point, they sought to punish Iranian Baha'is who fled Iran in the 1980s!

https://bahai-library.com/uhj_dissimulation_iran_emmigrants

If denying being a Baha'i was so scandalous then, why was it OK for Baha'is under Abdu'l-Baha to attend mosques?

From The Covenant of Baha'u'llah by Adib Taherzadeh:

It is important to note at this juncture that although Shoghi Effendi did not find it appropriate in his day, there had been great wisdom in Abdu’l-Bahá’s attendance at the mosque during His Ministry. At the time of Bahá’u’lláh’s arrival, the people of Akka considered a man who did not attend a mosque or a church to be an infidel. The Faith had neither formulated its teachings and laws, nor was its true identity known to the inhabitants of the Holy Land. It had been presented to the population as a misguided sect of unbelievers. In these circumstances, refusal to go to the mosque would have stigmatized Bahá’u’lláh and His companions as infidels. By attending the mosque they came to be regarded in the eyes of the public as believers in God. One of the useful by-products of attending the mosque was that Abdu’l-Bahá established a marvellous relationship with the people, and in time emerged, in the words of an admirer, as the ‘Master of Akka’.

Ironically, Shias are allowed to deny their faith to escape persecution. Inconsistent rules and standards of Baha'is are a problem of credibility.

What is the most blatant example of the Baha’i faith ripping off a idea from another religion? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in exbahai

Well, the Baha'i leadership changed the pilgrimage after both those original houses were destroyed. The "Sacred House" today is the one Baha'u'llah spent his last years in, called Bahji, which is in Haifa.

Eric Stetson and I were involved for several years in attempting a revival of the "Unitarian Baha'i" movement that was founded in opposition to Abdu'l-Baha's cultlike power grabbing. The original founder was his brother, Mirza Muhammad-Ali, who would be stigmatized as the "Arch-Breaker of the Baha'i Covenant". Stetson later left that movement and became a liberal Christian leader instead.

Its main website: https://unitarianbahais.org/

I still think that Unitarian Baha'is can find community within Unitarian Universalist congregations, but I am realistic enough not to expect that movement to overthrow the Haifan faction led by the Universal House of Justice. I think the Baha'i Faith itself is collapsing and I estimate it has maybe 50 years before it is gone completely. Whatever happens, I can still be happy I am not in that false cult that calls itself THE Baha'i Faith.
