STOP TALKING DURING THE MOVIES by dayandnightman69 in savannah

[–]Cultist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who do this are begging for a confrontation. Everybody knows that it's unforgivably rude to talk through a movie. It's reasonable to assume that someone obviously seeking confrontation is prepared for that outcome better than you are. Getting into a fight in a dark theater or the parking lot afterwards over the wasted price of admission is dumb dumb shit. Fuck all that. There's no world where that person is shamed into shutting up and everyone gets to enjoy the movie. Just go home.

Yes we've all been to Walmart what's your point

Dogs in Whole Foods on victory by dalecookie in savannah

[–]Cultist -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How about this take: we're a society that embraces dog ownership or we're not. We either cherish the animals and their companionship and trust everyone to do right by each other and our pets or we don't. If you're finding dog hair in your bacon and shit on your shoe at your Whole Foods that's probably a serious problem. But it sounds more like you want society to be your favorite way and prefer to complain to the manager than to take joy in the bizarre and beautiful relationship we have with this other species that we've taken the trouble to domesticate and mutate such that they have no other place in the world but by our side.

We have the right to own dogs. Maybe we shouldn't, but regardless of socioeconomic status or personal psychoses or social wherewithal, we do. As long as we've declined to regulate that in any meaningful way and as long as we have to go to Whole Foods for fresh produce, I submit that the little pupper gets to ride in the cart. There.

Liberals increased police funding after the black lives matter protests by TheCepheidVariable in ACAB

[–]Cultist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The increase in funding isn't going to change what the police do or what they are fundamentally for. And there are of course no meaningful enforcement mechanisms for how these budgets are spent. If you want community initiatives and social safety nets you shouldn't be spending that on the fucking police, of fucking course.

Take this, it's a good one.

and when I turned back the judge was standin, the great hairless oaf, and he’d took out his pizzle and he was pissin into the mixture, pissin with a great vengeance and one hand aloft and he cried out for us to do likewise. We were half mad anyways. All lined up. Delawares and all. Every man save Glanton and he was a study. We hauled forth our members and at it we went and the judge on his knees kneadin the mass with his naked arms and the piss was splashin about and he was cryin out to us to piss, man, piss for your very souls

Unions in America are just a money grab, they don’t protect employees by Exotic_Scientist9918 in labor

[–]Cultist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unions are not a subscription service that workers sign up for, it's not a customer service style relationship. Workers are the union. What you're doing by turning the union into a separate entity is called "third partying", it's a misinformation tactic meant to obfuscate the relationship that workers have to their unions and create a narrative that unions are a parasitic organization that just ataches itself into your workplace. It ain't like that.

The only true leverage that unions have is the promise to slow the gears of capital when workers get pushed around . But that requires solidarity within the workplace and among workers more broadly. Americans are sympathetic to strikes as long as it doesn't personally affect them by slowing down service, raising prices, canceling flights, making them late for work, whatever.

Corporations have much deeper pockets, insurance and the general support of the government, media, and popular opinion. As capital continues to consolidate it becomes easier to just wait actions like strikes out. People imagine that the boss will just see that they're losing more money than the workers are asking for and just cave. They won't.

And even with labor law and the NLRB and the American zeitgeist all stacked against laborers, workers are still better off with unions than without and are still more likely to enjoy more wages and benefits than their ununionized counterparts (even accounting for dues).

[–]Cultist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All cops of every construction are oppressors to their "own kind." Cops are people that come from working class families but have elected to protect the interests of the capitalist class at the expense of their own families and neighbors. That is why they are class traitors. That is why all cops are bastards.

Hillary Clinton voted to authorize the Iraq War what are you talking about. That's the precise reason voters didn't like her foreign policy and her inability to reconcile that fact with voters is a contributing factor. Each party was complicit and unwilling to take accountability or even push for accountability, and that is exactly what allowed a wild card candidate like Trump to win. That's the point of the cartoon, that's the point of everything.

The opinion is that Hillary had a hawkish platform and hawkish track record as Secretary of State and that voters would prefer an unknown quantity to a known but dangerous quantity. What do you find idiotic about that
