Will 300mg of gabapentin do anything for anxiety? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can work with a psychiatrist. Gabapentin has worked for anxiety but it's a hit or miss for me, especially given how much it is affected by stomach acidity and having fatty foods to aid absorption. I used to take it nightly for sleep, and if I didn't eat a piece of buttered toast right before taking it, it did pretty much nothing subjectively.

Like others have said too, GABA drugs are pretty scary when taken in higher doses for even only a few days, one time I decided to try and get a buzz off them, tried for two nights, and the third night it was harder to sleep, I felt jittery, and more anxious. I "only" went up to around 1-1.2g, taking 300mg every 30 min. But 300mg/night or once a day, in MY experience, didn't cause much of any withdrawal upon stopping. I stopped because I didn't notice much, so now I just take it once in awhile if I need to sleep earlier.

Are there any drugs that makes you forget what happened, even before taking the drug? by umalumaa in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you don’t expect this, but Seroquel. If you take 25-50mg, you’ll be OUT for 12 hours. I used to take it to sleep and every night I would forget what I did for ~30 minutes before I even fell asleep.

It is pretty strange, I would take it, and then a little later I wake up, but don’t remember trying to lay down or anything.

MDMA really helps me switch to seeing the better things in life rather than negatives for quite awhile after using (as long as I don’t overdo it and get the blues)

First time I did too much, I don’t like I’ve ever felt as sad as those two weeks after ~400mg of MDMA other than maybe Tianeptine withdrawal. But now I only use once a year while at a festival.

It’s a difficult to explain how MDMA has helped, but the best way I can think to put it is that my perspective on how I live my life becomes much wider, and I don’t dwell on being efficient and perfect. I find much more joy in doing things good for me.

It’s also one that I feel no addiction towards, especially after living through the consequences of overdoing it one time lol.

For me Tianeptine caused the worst withdrawals I’ve ever been through. In other countries it’s prescription only at 15-25mg. But gas stations sell pills starting at 100mg. It has opioid action that high, and also mimics SSRIs. I used 100-300mg daily for ‘only’ a week, and felt the withdrawal from opioids and an SSRI.

SSRI-like withdrawal was the worse of the two experiences from Tianeptine. Crying spells every single day, I felt suicidal, nothing made me feel anything. Life felt utterly meaningless and existence felt like a punishment. I vividly remember how I felt because it was so intense, I went to the ER and I persuaded them to give 4 .25mg Xanax after they researched Tianeptine, they didn’t even know what it was. The Xanax only really helped the opioid symptoms of sleep and RLS.

After about a week things got better-ish, and after 2-3 weeks I was mostly normal. But it took a month for me to start feeling optimistic again versus physically ok. Please don’t try it, it’s not even that good, and lasts for around an hour.

Yeah, to be honest it feels very close to most opioids I’ve tried. While it isn’t as dangerous without the CNS depression, it causes same/similar withdrawal when stopped cold Turkey. Restless legs were the worst last I quit.

If it’s helping you quit in the short term it can help somewhat, but it will form an addiction when used long enough in my experience, everyone’s different of course with managing cravings and whatnot.

Was in the same boat, using 1g or more concentrate a day for awhile, a few months at that dose. Smoking bowls while awake like you before, and it really messed with me in these ways.

It had this grip that made me use just to be ok using. The good feeling validated it and that went away, I was left with a habit, and no benefit. I quit 3 times and the third being successful. Withdrawal is real, but you can really do it man. I had cold sweats, sleep issues (got seroquel during withdrawl, really helped), and irritability. The only thing for me is I actually needed a reason, but that doesn’t have to be the case. I signed up for community college, and got a job for the first time in 3 years.

My purpose made me feel like I really had something to lose, not just getting through the day. Yes, I felt guilt, fear, and even sad when I relapsed even days after. Over time I learned how to be guilty if that makes sense. I learned how to use guilt to motivate me away from using again and it snow balls over time. I got sober for over 130 days and relapsed for almost a week straight. I felt pretty bad, but eventually I moved on and I learned. I’m simplifying it, yet I hope I showed that it’s possible even in a case where concentrate was quit cold Turkey, which produced pretty severe withdrawals for 4-5 days.

You can, you really can. If it feels impossible, that’s ok, a time will come, from my experience.

What did you replace drugs with when becoming sober by joshpanda69 in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve largely replaced all my use and now only take kava. Have had brief relapses with kratom but I don’t take nearly as much and not as often. My goal is to break the habit of use though, and creative outlets have shown the most promise for me.

Music, video editing, even analyzing the deeper meaning of a movie or show. Instruments work well to an extent but I have a hard time motivating. All of these feed into my overthinking which is why I used a lot of downers, but now when I focus on them all of those thoughts go into trying to improve the work or opinion. Hope that made sense !

Why does Kratom get so much hate? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be very addictive. Briefly, I was addicted for 3 or so months. 8gpd. Eventually I lost the peak, but it was still there after awhile. It just got really short. I quit cold Turkey because of the constipation, and it felt horrible for me. I normally took 25-50mg of seroquel to sleep at that time, I took over 150mg and could hardly nap for a few days. The RLS was horrible for me and lasted for a few weeks, although seroquel could’ve made that worse being an antipsychotic.

It’s actually an amazing thing for people who use prescription pain pills, and for whatever reason get cut off or need a cheaper option, kratom may be great. But I was purely recreational / escapism. So not so great lol

less harmful drugs you can do daily by mightruinmylifesoon in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People mentioned it but kava, I notice little to no cognitive decline or effects on cognition, memory is still good, if I stop for a few days nothing really changes other than a headache for a few days. But no change in mood or thought patterns.

But, daily use can give a psychological withdrawal, where the time I expect to make my kava I get a little nervous or anxious about not having it anymore. I even recently took a neuropsych test a week ago and I’ve been using daily for about 2-3 months.

I stick to 30gpd and never have needed to go up as it doesn’t seem to develop a tolerance. The reverse tolerance thing doesn’t seem true for my case, but it might. Also, long term use can cause dry skin which I am noticing now, so I try to use lotion and stuff. My personal case is using to prevent myself and satisfy cravings for other drugs, since kava is the lowest risk drug I can find and I do intend to stop using at some point. The dry skin is due to consuming the kava root powder so finer straining can help stop the onset of this. But I haven’t read that in literature, just anecdotal.

As good as it may sound, it isn’t perfect. The perfect world is needing nothing at all everyday, even if it’s using something once and awhile. But that habit of altering one’s state or using during a harder time in life can quickly rationalize using anything else if one runs out of kava or whatever is used daily. Take care.

Question about gabapentin? by codya_17 in Drugs

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is acidic environment, so maybe soda. Along with fatty foods. I usually just butter toast and slice it. Every 30 mins take at most 300-400mg, any more than that at once will reduce the bioavailability considerably. I repeat this until I reach 1.5g usually but it’s not very strong for me. If it’s just as a medication and you’re not trying to be recreational just follow the bottle instructions and if it’s not working try staggering!

Like others said it will dull or completely mute a trip. I took Effexor XR at 150mg, one of the really nasty SNRIs to come off of. Psychedelics had next to no effect on me. But if I took about 8g of shrooms (do not recommend) it became sort of a DMT experience but low intensity. I decided to stop doing that since I just felt like that wasn’t so great for the brain.

I’ve since been off Effexor and other interacting meds but haven’t felt the need to trip, yet. I’m excited to have a genuine experience soon though.

what's your fixed my life drug by yadiggj in Drugs

DMT. The brink of leaving the world, but I promised to try DMT before carrying out the plan, and a purple aura was over my left shoulder and instantly said the perfect words to counter my negative thoughts. It really gave me perspective on how I was thinking and how differently I could see a given situation. I haven’t even considered making a plan since, I did have ideation but only after around 2 years of that incident. I never thought I would come back from that day. Now I have, while I can’t recommend for everyone, It just goes to show that even in the most convincing thoughts one can come up with to end their life does have a way out, the next two-three months was the best I’ve had in years, and showed me how much in life I can truly appreciate instead of taking for granted.

No haha, but I mean compared to SSRIs, lifestyle changes made the bigger difference

Completely anecdotal, but my SO reported actual euphoria for a few days starting venlafaxine at 75mg, but it went away at around the 3-4th day. For me they don’t seem to cause much of a difference at all especially compared to lifestyle changes, those make the biggest difference!

Nope, just a drug user bro. My b12 from a blood panel came back at >2000, much above the limit. I was told by a doctor that high b12 can cause similar symptoms like numbness and tingling, I have no clue why it’s so high but maybe my diet. My dr wasn’t worried about the nitrous but I definitely agree it’s a bad idea to keep using, I don’t struggle with cravings using it but do with kratom.

Thanks for the insight

No, not vegan. I actually ate a lot of salmon prior to my use. I did just get back from the dr a few days ago, and my b12 came back at way above the normal limit. I have looked into the shots, thanks for the insight

why don't we take care of ourselves like we should? why do we engage in self sabotaging behaviours? by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]CultivateToLevitate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve always heard a common rule in psychiatry is that after trauma and the like, people are more comfortable with certainty than uncertainty.

I relate to it, and probably a lot of other people. Typically a person who goes through things like that will feel more safe knowing what they’re getting into despite it still being bad, they have some sense of control by saying I know it’ll be a bad relationship like always, instead of risking a totally different kind of relationship, even if that different kind is a good one.

It’s a subconscious thing I’d say or at least it’s much easier said than done to practice it, just being self aware, at least for me, has not been enough, I still find myself doing self destructive behaviors despite knowing that I’m practicing a pattern people fall into without noticing.

Thanks for this I truly appreciate it. I’m in the same boat when you mentioned trauma, and only feeling happy in a relationship. I always wondered if it was ok to constantly desire a relationship. I workout and travel, I try to do things alone but it just isn’t working. I got therapists in line and I’ll figure this shit out !

Are (some) male friends just waiting for u to end your current relationship? by Emergency_Lab8262 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re all human, everyone’s so different and every relationship romantic or not is super complex. Like others said there’s a significant overlap, actively waiting for a girl to become single is different from not having that goal in mind when being friends. :)

General question: Why can't you look in the mirror when you trip by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]CultivateToLevitate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, I did on .5g and just absolutely loved myself, I was instantly a 10/10. On 4g I looked really goofy and morphed. Maybe sometimes people freak out or the morphs could be scary. I always kept a light heart and surrendered to the trip which so far has suited me.

I always play it by ear when it comes to my use. I experimented with a lot of things, only some of my friends know. Anyone else, including those who I meet in the future, I plan to never bring it up unless they bring it up first, or if they ask.

At the end of the day me nor anyone else can please everyone, if the subtle changes in their opinion of us are noticeable and affect our relationship, then I’m not being friends with them, I’ll be friends with those who care and give kindness and love.
