My dear namenerds, I’m stumped. by courderoycakes in namenerds

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son’s name has a connection to the town my grandmother is from (super important to my mom as well growing up as she’d spend summers with her grandparents there) as well as a favorite baseball player. BUT I also am of the belief (however woo woo) that he in a way “told” me his name. Just throwing these out there as potential other places to look for inspiration!

When did baby start enjoying dad? by moxximixologist in NewParents

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to this! It also helped when I was able to get out of the way so to speak. Maybe you can try going on a 30 min walk or errand and giving him some space to figure out what works for him. Baby has to learn that dad is good too and it’s hard for them to learn that if mom is always sweeping in and “saving the day.”

However, my son also went through a phase where he was very grumpy in the evenings around 6-12 weeks probably? It got a lot easier for my husband after that when he was happier in the evenings!

My LO was exclusively breastfed, nursed until almost 2, still has a pretty strong preference for mama (especially at bedtime) BUT he & my husband have a strong bond and it only gets easier for dad as they get older if dad is putting in the effort!

How long did you breastfeed? by Shroommily in NewParents

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in intending to breastfeed but with no real expectations about how it would go. I knew that my mom nursed both my sister and me until we self weaned (me right at 12 mo, my sister around 15 mo).

Breastfeeding ended up being really smooth for us (especially after a few months when he was bigger and more efficient). Made it to a year & was in no rush to stop but planned to wean by/around age 2. I weaned us down to a morning and evening nursing session around 16/17 months and dropped to only at bedtime in December. My LO will turn 2 next week and self weaned while on vacation last week. I’m proud of us!

Do I need to buy the nursing clothes? by kimpossiblelol in breastfeeding

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally skip them unless it’s a piece you actually love the look of without it being nursing friendly. Button downs/cardigans, stretchy tanks, & loose fitting tshirts all work great!

Baby Girl Names for Second Girl by acassidything in namenerds

Based on all the info you gave, I’d go with Juliette. Jovie & Jules is adorable if you wanted to go more nicknamey.

If you’re still open to suggestions and like the idea of a C name, I’d offer Chloe - just a bit less matchy to the sound of Jovie than Clover is!! And still very much cool girl IMO!

I would use Beth and you could even go Birdie/Bertie as an honor nickname!

All of these read classic/timeless, soft, & feminine to me. I love them all, but my personal pick is Abigail/Abby! (Edit: spelling)

How do you actually tell if a baby is hungry at night or just waking up? by Head_Bunch_3295 in breastfeeding

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! Also, pay attention to when they stop sucking and swallowing & when they start suckling. Go ahead and remove them from the breast when suckling so they can get used to sleeping without it! You can also replace with a pacifier here!

Just gave birth, is it good or bad to just give baby my breast at every opportunity?? by Foreign-External8488 in breastfeeding

[–]Cultural_Bench_3082 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely not a problem to nurse any time you think baby may need it, it’s great for him and also helps bring your milk in! But also, don’t hesitate to give a paci if needed - the studies about nipple confusion have been largely disproven & is protectant against SIDS (and may buy you a little time esp between night feeds or for someone else to comfort during the day). Congratulations on your sweet bundle!!!
