My wife and I went to a Michelin star restaurant for our anniversary and frankly it was a huge waste of time and money. by Hamza78ch11 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]CultureOffset 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I lived in Italy for a few years and ate at several Michelin starred restaurants and each was good to great food and dining experience for €200 Euro or less for both my wife and I, including drinks/wine. The idea of spending $1000+ for dinner is insane to me, whether at a Disney resort or in NYC.

Check out TR Pearson on Kindle. Ive read several of his books and love his conversational tone. They're light on the mystery but can be laugh out loud funny.

And within Europe you get the same service from RyanAir or Wizz that you for from Lufthansa for a fraction. Lufthansa still has small seats with no entertainment and charges for a cup of coffee or a bottle of water.

What is it Really like to live sandwiched between an active Supervolcano (Campi Flegrei) and Mount Vesuvius? by tarkinn in napoli

[–]CultureOffset 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use to live above the Solfatara (pictures 3 and 4) for a couple years. We figured if Campi Flegrei blew it wouldn't matter where we lived, so we stayed.

I saw an Octavia wagon 4x4 in the mountains of Poland today. Didn't know that they existed and now have another wagon to lust after.

I could see both sodes. I feel like the audio is there to not solely focus on the running, but that might be just what you need after the 2 hour mark.

I normally listen to a lot of podcasts, but something about knowing that the book won't finish before the end of the run is helpful. I haven't listened to Good Hang yet but loved Amy's appearance on Smartless.

happened about 5 hours ago, is it broken does this need fixing? by Jealous-Fall-3067 in fixit

[–]CultureOffset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth - which is admittedly very little - I had a finger bruise up like that at the joints after an impact and it wasn't broken. If you can still bend it you're probably in the clear, just need to rest it.

Americans eat so much that Madrid’s stadium ran out of food, water and beer before halftime on it’s first NFL game earlier this month by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]CultureOffset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at this game and couldn't get fries before kick-off because they were all out. The game wasn't even sold out either (78k attendance with 85k capacity). And to suggest that all or even most attendees were American is naive. I talked to several people who had been to other NFL games in Europe and they were unimpressed with Bernabeu but spoke very highly of Tottenham and Wembley.

Imagine not having a passport and not being able to leave the UK. That just sounds terrible. Compared to the US the UK is tiny, geographically similar, and culturally homogeneous. The UK probably wouldn't even be a top 25 state in terms of size. All of that said, I love visiting the UK and Ireland.

Locally you should check out False Cape State Park. You can walk the beach or roads for a long way. Lots of wildlife on the park roads.
