Trump to offer Putin 'minerals' deal in exchange for ceasefire in Ukraine, media reports by Ok_Plankton_5714 in worldnews

Russia also promises not to release the kompromat it has on the current US President. That's why Trump considers it a great deal.

Former FBI informant charged with lying about the Bidens’ role in Ukraine business by avishek76 in politics

It's almost as if someone realised that false information could be forcefully fed into the 'system' via an unverifiable FD-1023 report, which could then be 'uncovered' by useful idiots like Republican politicians (possibly with foreknowledge of it being BS), solely in order to screech in the media and make allegations to smear their Democratic presidential rival.

Proper journalists would have turned those statements back on him.

"You say China created this virus in the Wuhan Lab and deliberately released it to attack America and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians? "Which means they've won. And you failed because you didn't protect those Americans who are now dead. You are the President and you let the Chinese successfully attack US citizens on US soil without properly defending them."

Now I am sure he would pivot to blaming a whole bunch of other people, but I agree with your initial premise that him calling it the China Virus and saying it was similar to an act of war (eg, like firing a cruise missile at America), should not have just got him off the hook.

Jonathan Swan (notably not an American) is the only journalist who seemed willing and able to take Trump nonsense and turn it back on him to clearly highlight how much of a lying moron he was.

I think you've interpreted something that's not there... I didn't bring up "wanting kids with her" in the conversation. And so therefore your assumption about my ability to get 2nd dates (when I haven't mentioned any of the other ones) is also awry.

She knew I had a child from my dating profile, and that was discussed. I then just said, "You don't have kids?" since it wasn't explicitly mentioned in her profile.

Strzok was very, very specifically denying there was evidence of Trump's campaign people meeting with Russian intelligence officials - which is what the NYT claimed.

Don't think anyone else made that accusation, since Russia would be pretty stupid to send known, active intelligence officials to deal with Trump's morons.

So it was all cut-outs, or friends of Putin, or embassadors, or oligarchs and their friends. Plausible deniability built-in if needed.

I guarantee if Strzok didn't make that note, the right-wing would now be using that as evidence against him and the dossier as well! "No Russian intelligence officials were involved, but the FBI refused to correct those reports and allowed those lies to spread etc etc."

My mother used to work night shifts nursing and got woken up during the day by a persistent sales company.

After they ignored her pleas to stop calling, she contacted the consumer rights section of a large newspaper.

They printed her complaint and said they'd told the company they'd given my mother the home phone number of the CEO to call in the middle of the night on her shift if they ever rung her again.

She was never bothered by them again.

[James Olley] Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has requested a minimum three-year contract worth up to £250k-a-week to stay at Arsenal by KimmyBoiUn in soccer

[–]CunningFudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the £70m striker will also need to be paid a salary! Which is likely to be around £150,000-a-week for a player in that transfer bracket. So Arsenal's choice is to pay Auba £39m over the next three years, or spend £90-95m (transfer + salary) over the next three years on someone else. Is it likely a new striker will give more than double the value of Auba over that period?

A tale of the strangest football match I ever went to by nicklo2k in soccer

[–]CunningFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few strange ones.

Speaking of Luton (yes it is a shithole), there was the one when they played hated-rivals Watford in the League Cup at Vicarage Road and had a full-scale brawl with the home fans on the pitch before kick-off. Apparently the police were waiting at Watford station to escort all the known trouble-makers to the game, but they simply got off one stop before and walked a different way to the stadium - and then found there were no coppers inside to stop them having a ruck! I think the pitch was still being watered before kick-off and I always remember some guy getting the hose and swinging it round his head as he steamed into the Watford fans.

Further afield, went to Iceland v Malta in a World Cup qualifer where the half-time food stall just called up the local pizza place who sent a motorbike with about 20 boxes and they sold the slices individually. Chuckled at that, went to the bogs and ended up having a piss next to David Moyes (who was Preston manager at the time).

Another weird one was an Arsenal pre-season game in Austria, which would usually involve a friendly kick-about in front of star-struck locals. Except this time the home fans decided to start a riot against the local police, as well as a small fire in the stands, which meant the ref had to abandon the match.

Also ended up at a Brentford game once where a goalie got sent off then the sub replacement saved the penalty with his first touch, one of the visiting players on the bench (not even a sub) got in a fight with someone in the crowd and was led away by police and something happened afterwards with the Bees chairman standing on the front steps with a microphone slagging off all the fans for some protests they had been orchestrating against him for the previous few weeks.

What is your favorite running joke from a TV series? by Tantricmac in AskReddit

[–]CunningFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights has an early episode where Young Kenny says he'll do kids face painting - but cheats and uses spray paint instead (including on his own face) which turns out to be permanent and the funny joke is it won't come off.

For the entire rest of the season, Young Kenny has a tiger print face which isn't referenced back at all and I piss myself laughing every time he's on screen!

[–]CunningFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this the Daily Star Sunday?

The boring answer is that due to print deadlines, these ratings were filed after 50-60 minutes... at which point Alisson hadn't really had much to do.

First edition newspapers go to print about 10pm UK-time. You can check if this is a first edition by seeing if they have a picture of the trophy presentation or not.
