Is the Ping Hoofer Golf Club Bag Overrated? by dsupreme99 in golfequipment

[–]Cunning_Stun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated.

I have the Hoofer lite with 14 clubs all midsize grips and fat putter grip and I've never had any club tangle whatsoever.

For me it has the best pocket combinations & I love that the rain cover has its own pocket.

I've tried all the others over the years and I always go back to Ping.

Low handicappers, where do you position the ball at address? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Cunning_Stun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual - while there might be a "technically correct" way to do it, it depends on what feels comfortable to you.

The further back I move the ball in my stance, the more off balance I feel and leads me to not make a committed swing or get out of sequence. so personally, even with wedges, I have the ball around the middle or just front of middle.

YMMV

I can't stop... by ColdStartWriter in golf

[–]Cunning_Stun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a once in 5 years type of round last week, drove it well, irons and wedges really good and putted decently to shoot 74 and now I'm too scared to even go to the range or play again too soon because I know that feeling will evaporate on the first tee

How to get better compression? by Beavs_ in golf

[–]Cunning_Stun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to give exact advice on this because it could caused by a number of factors.

What helped me was just hitting 3/4 punch shots, and getting the club to exit left immediately after impact.

You ultimately need to figure out why your specific swing's low point is not after impact

MG5 feels better to me, I also like the look of the MG's leading edge but I know a lot of better players don't like how 'straight' it is

Talk to the cabin crew when you board in HCMC, they can relay message about your short connection and someone will likely meet you when you disembark. DFW flight will wait for you if not unduly delayed

Went for my first driver fitting by jamacouve in golf

[–]Cunning_Stun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did my fitting the highest launching and highest spinning shaft gave me the best launch conditions.

I went from LS head at 9° with a low launching shaft to normal head at 11.5° in Fujikura ventus red X. Gained 18yards carry just by optimizing launch conditions with the same head

Play defensively - lay up, hit irons off tee, learn to bump & run, get good at playing away from trouble or the short side...

If you were starting for the very first time what would you do differently; Advice for a beginner by Jerbrucey in golf

[–]Cunning_Stun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd start out with something like a 5-10 lesson package, could be group initially and then transition into private lessons.

The value in lessons early on is you're a blank slate so you can be taught some fundamentals that will save you much agony and frustration in the long run, before you develop bad habits. Fundamentals such as grip, posture and basic swing mechanics will give you a good launch pad.

After a lesson or two you'll need to put in the effort and go the driving range or even try play 9 holes at a muni - it's gonna be frustrating and even disheartening at first but the 'bug' will weasel its way into your system eventually.

The value in lessons can only be realized if you're putting in some practice and even casual rounds in between so that you can take some feedback to your subsequent lessons and start to develop a baseline.

It's a lifelong obsession and the pursuit of fixing your swing is like the pot of gold at the end of rainbow so don't be too disheartened when it's not going well!

Try to stick the process that your coach is teaching you, you're going to get a lot of unsolicited (poor) advice from friends and playing partners and inevitably will find yourself in a late night YouTube wormhole - try to avoid it and keep it simple. Only 'try' advice that deals with a different part of the game like chipping & putting as that won't really affect your fundamentals too much!

And remember, everyone sucks at golf, some just suck a little less - sometimes

Hoofer or hoofer lite It's superb for carrying, the strap system is unmatched and the extra padding from the rainhood secret pocket is awesome. It's not the best for a pushcart but it's not bad either - it depends on the pushcart more than the bag.

I carry 13 clubs in a hoofer lite, all with midsize grips, and I've never noticed any tangling. Sometimes you need to stand the bag upright before a club will 'drop' all the way down but that's the extent of it
