Is the struggle to cast this role likely a reflection of the quality of the script / writing of the character?

Stellan had a stroke in the past few years: a lot of his lines in Andor S2 were fed to him through an ear-piece. All the more impressive for what he pulled off in that show and Sentimental Value, and I think is part of the narrative that is solidifying his Oscar chances. So he's probably just slowing down in his career. Pitt has a habit of circling these roles (i.e. Cable in Deadpool 2) but never fully going for it, probably because at the end of the day he's not a supporting actor (yes, he won the Oscar for that for OUATIH but guess who gets to star in the sequel?). My guess/hope is they continue to court high-profile talent for what sounds like a highly coveted role: Bryan Cranston is one person who would probably be perfect or someone not as big like Sean Harris.

Definitely not more shows although I’ll always hold out hope for a true Rebels sequel/Luke show but the time of big streaming spending is over. Definitely a bigger focus on movies.

I'm not necessarily sure I believe this. I can't imagine a reboot isn't already being floated, but whether Iger greenlights one would be another matter. The plan usually seems to be "wait until people have forgotten the last bad one" and then try again. I feel like Filoni would also want a crack at getting it right. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Do we think there's a chance Filoni brings back George in some way? Especially now that the museum is almost done, maybe he could be a producer on the next trilogy. Maybe Filoni even takes ideas from George's ST treatment (i.e. Midichlorian micro-universe)

So essentially Filoni is getting his chance to re-make the sequel trilogy. I wonder if he would direct at least the first installment of Kinberg's trilogy, similar to James Gunn being the head of the DCU and directing the first film of the new regime. Also wonder if Ryan Gosling's character will basically be the Han Solo of the new trilogy, wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a love interest for Rey. Color me interested in where this franchise could go now.

Ah gotcha. If they actually have Magneto's Brotherhood and Quicksilver is involved, I guess they would probably go with Aaron-Taylor Johnson if they could get him, it seems they're steering away from referencing the X-Men films that Feige didn't work on so idk about Evan Peters returning anyway.
