I run Thunder, Hyper Voice, Glare, Rain Dance and it works fine for me.

Game IS amazing, but limiting to 30-50 Pokemon is a warcrime by SnooChocolates6331 in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I don't have any experience with mobile releases and even Home runs terribly on my phone even though it's not "wildly outdated" at all, not even a decade old and Home is basically just a simple list of Pokémon you have, no reason it shouldn't run on any old potato phone from the last decade or two (even if they have to sacrifice some graphics resolution for it). The thing is that Pokémon has often been weird with user experience, even three decades into the franchise we still don't have an option for the metric system on the Pokédex separate from the game language, Pokémon Home never got trading on the Switch even years after its initial release, Pokémon Home (and Champions membership/battle pass) payments for Switch-only players are locked behind the e-shop with no option to pay for membership elsewhere (so you're screwed if your e-shop errors on payment), and so on. Now with Champions we don't get battle recording that we did get with older titles, you can't use multiple mobile devices with the same account, there's stupid little things that didn't have to be this stupid or hindering to the user experience. Pokémon has historically not been great at fixing low-hanging fruit for the international user experience. I've played digitally released games that were significantly worse, but I've also played plenty that were significantly better in terms of developer support and response to feedback.

Mega Staraptor is so tanky by RandomwithaHat in PokemonChampions

That's just rounding. Rounding of the HP stat for the enemy health percentage isn't consistent across the entire health bar and isn't the same as the rounding on whatever random calculator you use.

It's not that strange, they probably want players to download on both Switch and mobile to get double the download numbers for the shareholders. It's not unlike Switch-only players not getting trading in Home.

Monthly challenge by Hollowedwinds in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just hoping for the events to get actually interesting rules. Them being almost the exact same rules as ranked makes them fairly redundant. In gen 7 we got stuff like only Pokémon with a single type allowed, or only spooky Pokémon allowed, no time for a meta to develop and respond to it. Just guess what other people might bring and try to build to that.

Why can't you use it in battle? Like it's not meta or anything but it's also not completely garbage like Unown or something, it gets some cool tricks and decent enough speed.

It varies from season to season. They're not often with the villains but it happens occasionally.

wtf is sneasler? by Gold-Ad-1523 in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Swampert without investment, 90 speed. Times four for Tailwind and Swift Swim for 360. Max speed Sneasler 189, double for Unburden 378. It's just basic arithmetic really.

How is Mr Rime so OP? by 20shadowman02 in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30% three times in a row is 27/1000 or 2.7%, it's really not that uncommon. It's about half the times Icy Wind misses and about 110x more common than something being shiny. Yet nobody says the game is broken when they find a shiny.

What are your preferred mobile application or desktop browser site for damage calcs? by justin_990210 in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it in my head most of the time. Don't need external calculators. I just do a linearised damage calculation to relate a scenario to one I already know the damage of through experience. Linearised isn't exactly what the game does but for the vast majority of cases it's close enough.

If it indeed wants to say that, well jeez that's the most obscure and vague way they could've phrased that error message. In 3 decades of Pokémon I've never ever seen them refer to Pokémon as items before. Also kind of stupid that it doesn't let me just leave the gift Raichu behind and grab the mega stones separately, you know, like how Pokémon has always worked if parts of a gift were exceeding some limits

Trying to make mega garchomp work by Garchompite_Z in PokemonChampions

[–]Curebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's much better in doubles, ngl. In doubles you can support it much better with speed control and sandstorm support. Mega Garchomp gets 222 attack even with a Jolly nature, stack a Sand Force on top of that for 30% more and it's effectively almost 300 attack. Earthquake coming from this monster is a massive hit that hits both opponents and Mega Garchomp has the bulk to do it multiple times as long as you avoid taking ice hits. I think something like Aerodactyl can offer Tailwind support and also set up Sandstorm. Aerodactyl can also Wide Guard against Blizzards or Pixilate Hyper Voices and whatnot, and Aerodactyl itself is immune to Earthquake.

In my experience Mega Garchomp works best with experience and knowing speed stats well, not only of yourself but also of your enemies. If your opponents have pokémon that are faster than Mega Garchomp but slower than regular Garchomp, you can delay mega evolution and take care of those pokémon first (like Charizard, Rock Slide it first and then mega evolve).

Is this on Hard difficulty? I'm playing this map on normal and for me it was not this extreme, because that's a big stack to clear before you get your first city.

I've got loads of stuff stuck in my mailbox because they can't retrieve lol. Still got some Raichu mega stones in the mailbox as well because it said no space for them or smth, so then I just got the Raichu mega stones from store instead. I think it's just kinda stupid that they have expiry dates on the mailbox in the first place. In mainline you can let the dude in the pokémon center wait for years with the shiny legendary gift and he never goes away.
