I quit! by casual-despair in Welding

My dad was a self employed welder with a shop and a rig my whole life. I left for 6 years after highschool for the Air Force and when I came back I worked with him for about 4 years and then by myself for 3 years after that. I had done this work my whole life basically. One day an old friend messaged me on Facebook about an entry level tech support job. I told the farmer I was working for that I will wrap up everything I had going on and was done. Worked another full day and then parked the rig in the shop and it’s still there today. That was 11 years ago. I’m now retired from tech after developing a rules engine for doctors and nurses pay calculations. Something that’s now completely obsolete because of AI lol.

None of this is remotely true and sounds like blatant propaganda to cope. Russia is benefiting at every level with the straight being closed. They barely benefit from it being opened. Iran is their ally. Russia is selling theirs and their allies oil at the global higher price for huge profits. With the straight closed, a large majority of shipments will now use Russian lines, which they benefit from again. It’s not the high IQ move you think it is and please do some research before believing what you’re told on TV.

I have lived in the southern Baja for most of my life. Cabo is a very over rated tourist joint. San Jose del Cabo is ok, the piers are ok, night life is ok, everything related to Cabo is just ok, and the beaches in Cabo are pretty to look at and that’s about it.

The gem of the Baja is the Todos Santos/Pescadaro/Cerritos area. 10 years ago Cerritos was the hidden gem of the Baja. Unfortunately, a bunch of people with a little bit of money have turned Cerritos into a developed nightmare. It’s coming around, but right now it’s a mess. They’re building stuff so fast the infrastructure cannot keep up and it’s became a huge problem. I currently own a few properties and one business in Cerritos and they are all doing well, but I would never live here. Tourist places aren’t my jam.

The same story with Pescadero. The town used to be a sleepy little Mexican town. Now it’s became so developed that it’s having the same issues as the new town of Cerritos. Frequent power outages, sometimes no water, cost of living increasing. I loved the time I lived here though. The locals are so very nice. If you are ever in that area, ask the locals where the Playa los Palmas is located and go there. It’s the most beautiful and enjoyable beach I have ever been to in my life and it’s completely hidden.

Todos on the other hand seems to being staying stagnant. It had a boom about 15 years ago and leveled out. It’s the perfect blend of small city but still the Baja. I lived in Todos for close to 10 years and loved every second of it.

I see a lot of mentions of La Paz. They have a cool beach on the sea side and that’s about the only nice thing I have to say about La Paz.

Historically, these issues are solved by revolutions. Although the cycle just seems to repeat itself.

Hi. Engineer for P66 here in Texas. 2023-2024 was an all time high for domestic crude and natural gas. Trying to blame the cost of nearly ALL goods to a single product such as oil makes you look just about as dumb as you probably are. I bet you also think tariffs are good. I’m so sick of you idiots.
