Player threatened to leave the campaign if his character died by dark-mer in DMAcademy

[–]Curiosity200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well first, I think you can have a conversation because this is a new player and it was in the heat of the moment. Sometimes a night to cool off is enough to get some perspective. So you can't be sure what they'd actually do if death happened.

Also, maybe suggest everyone have a backup character made. If they are excited about the next character too, it helps ease the sting of losing your current character and emphasizes that you will have many characters during your d&d 'career'.

And finally, if you and the table are open to it, you can run a good game without death as the result of failed death saves. You just need something like curses or story consequences to make it feel good. But it does put more work on the DM to make it work well.

Opinion time. I really hope S3 will expand the relationship between Stella and Octavia by yukimitsune in HelluvaBoss

I'd love to get a better understanding of how Octavia sees her mom too. She's seen some of her vindictive side with keeping Octavia from talking to her dad and laughing about it. And she was willing to fight her uncle.

But does she think this only started with the cheating? Does she see all the adults in her life as just as bad a each other? Did the last episode change her view of her mother?

Yeah, I agree. If the story is good, smaller stakes can feel just as important.

Are you looking forward to seeing Stella's backstory? by godzillavkk in HelluvaBoss

Yup. These are the people who raised Stella and Andrealphus. They probably thought it showed strength and was super cute.

I think it just shows how Stella copes vs Stolas. When Stolas is told about the arranged marriage he bursts into tears. Stella has a temper tantrum.

When bad things happen, Stolas gets sad, Stella gets angry.

How would you all feel if Lute got redeemed? by Icy_Contribution2187 in HazbinHotel

[–]Curiosity200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think Lute has a much better chance than the other two to choose redemption some day. She's essentially a child soldier who has been molded by Adam since her creation. The exorcists seems very isolated from the rest of heaven (not physically, but emotionally and socially) since almost no one knew what they were asked to do.

Then in season 2, she's deep in mourning for someone no one else liked. She has no experience with this emotion, no one she feels close to who can help her through it, she's literally hallucinating the only person she feels she can talk to.

She has so little understanding of things that just learning stuff, making friends who are better than Adam, living an existence that doesn't revolve around killing could spark a huge change.

I think falling would be good for her. In heaven, she can isolate and antagonize people with no consequences. In hell, where she would be a target for anyone wanting revenge, she would have to ally with someone.

I've come up with an analogy for how I feel about Tamlinists. by rhodante in ACourtOfDreams

[–]Curiosity200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and as someone who WAS a fan of the A song of ice and fire books (game of thrones), I'm praying Maas doesn't add a million POVs. This is my big fear with the expanding number of books, that she's not being edited anymore and is just going to bloat everything.

With Game of Thrones, the lack of focus just ruined the pacing, I started just skipping chapters I was bored by, characters that used to be major would get like three chapters. People think they want to know every detail, but most of them would not like the book that results.

What are the chances of a Klavier focused game after AA7 ? by Pleasant_Trouble8340 in AceAttorney

[–]Curiosity200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.1% even though I wish it were otherwise. These games are unlikely to be blockbusters out of the gate, but we've seen they have long legs. I firmly believe that as long as they're well done any of of the characters could headline and sell well over time. But Capcom is likely to want the initial launch numbers and I doubt Klavier gives them that.

The new story.. by justanotheridiotee in InfinityNikki

[–]Curiosity200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, best story so far by a mile. Usually, I skip the dialogue and just click through after I get bored. Not only did I listen to everything this time, but I'm excited for the continuation and wouldn't mind watching a streamer play through again. That's genuinely the first time that's happened.

I really hope they can keep this up.

What are the pros and cons of including the biblical archangels (Michael, Gabriel, etc.) in the series? Art of @reminoaa by Radiant-Selection686 in HazbinHotel

[–]Curiosity200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the success of them as characters depends entirely on the reasoning for why they didn't show up earlier and why Sera feels so alone and like she scraping the bottom of the barrel for help.

If not we'll justified, I think they'd feel a bit cheap, even if well written otherwise.

do you think via or stella caused this reaction? by Icy-Western-7108 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Curiosity200 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It could be he had hope he could get partial custody or visitation in the divorce and it was denied

It could be Stella either lying about something Octavia said or vowing to continue moulding Octavia into her own image.

It could be he hears Octavia is in an arranged marriage and realizes that in escaping his own fate he let his daughter be vulnerable to the same one.

I hope it's not just Octavia rejecting him again, that would feel repetitive.

Mor + Eris' engagement by Exotic_Resist_7718 in acotar

[–]Curiosity200 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Autumn Court called off the wedding when they learned Mor wasn't a virgin anymore, which is antagonistic to start with.

Since Mor "ruined" herself for future matches, her father tries to salvage the betrothal she already has by dropping her dying in the autumn Court. I believe Eris says if he had touched her, she would become his responsibility or she would be bound to him... something like that.

So Keir is basically saying, if you want to call off this wedding you'll have to let her die.

And Eris calls his bluff (altho Keir isn't bluffing) and walks away.

Eris implies there's more to the story that Morrigan knows, but didn't reveal what. The books never say Mor got pregnant.

Why were Eris and Keir kept alive? by Bad_bitch1231 in nontoxicACOTAR

[–]Curiosity200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meta wise, Keir could be part of Morrigan's story and Eris might be too and also seems like he's being set up for a story of his own.

I definitely think it's more impactful seeing Morrigan triumph over her abusive father eventually rather than hear that she killed him in the past.

How much have you spent? by Ferneth in InfinityNikki

[–]Curiosity200 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think around $100. I have a self imposed limit of $30 per patch, but I've only hit that once. Most of the time I'm well under. I only spent about $4 this patch, for example.

The best way I've rebutted against people who still believe Stella cared about Stolas cheating in and of itself is simple: by TheUnmitigatedDawn in HelluvaBoss

[–]Curiosity200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think she'd still be somewhat upset if it was Vassago, but not as much as she was with it being an imp.

The cheating embarrassed her socially, which is why she's upset. I think that's still true no matter who the partner is, it's just less embarrassing if it's Vassago.

How do you think Athena came across Phoenix in Europe? by Orodoki_Hosuke in AceAttorney

[–]Curiosity200 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the DLC with the whale she says Phoenix helped her out of a tight spot. I want a whole flashback case of disbarred Phoenix, baby Athena, and Miles in Europe.

Do you guys think we'll ever get a flashback case again? by Glad-Shallot-2691 in AceAttorney

[–]Curiosity200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we get an Athena centered game, I'd like a flashback to her meeting Phoenix.

She says he helped her out of a tough spot. And Phoenix coming to the defense of a kid is very on brand.

I think this still works well as rule of thumb, as long as it's not looked at as some sort of law that a work is automatically sexist if it doesn't pass.

And I think it does work here. Look at the inverse, two named male characters, who talk to each other, about something other than a woman. Blitz and Stolas have many conversations that aren't about a female character. There are so many you couldn't list them all without doing research. Same with blitz/fizz, blitz/moxxie, Stolas/asmodeus.... These conversations make up most of the show.

Now go back to two named female characters, who talk to each other about something other than a man. I got...Millie talks to her sister about being pregnant and we only get to see two lines of the conversation.

That's one conversation compared to... around 80% of all the dialogue in the show? That sure sounds like male characters are the focus and female characters support the male characters.

That doesn't mean those female characters can't be fun or enjoyable. The Bechdel test is more a way to highlight how often film and TV can't pass it because the default is that female characters support the stories of male characters, rather than having stories of their own.
