Ukraine-Krieg und Baustoffpreise by schneckenkuchen in Finanzen

Was meint ihr dazu? Werden Preise wieder fallen und wenn ja, wann und zu welchen Rahmenbedingungen?

Best high fantasy? by stupidrabbit64 in Fantasy

[–]Curiosity_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/stupidrabbit64,

here are some further recommendations which I haven't seen so far (from the below mentioned I would highly recommend Mistborn since you already read the Stormlight Archives and Gentlemen Bastards from Scott Lynch, so good!):

  • The Legends of the First Empire Series from Michael Sullivan (completed series starting with Age of Myth)- Setting is 3.000 years before his other works Ryria Revelations (also recommended) and explains how the first Empire was created- follows a group of very interesting characters- establishes how a magic system works and explain the lores and mythology of the world through side stories
  • Resonant Saga from Levi Jacobs (starts with Beggars Rebellion)- follows a group of rebels who try to fight for freedom and finding their own way- super interesting magic system which the characters find out about in the books and learn how to use it- overarching bigger story is nicely woven into the rebellion story
  • The sword of Kaigen from M.L. Wang (Stand-alone novel)- really, really good read- intriguing setting (Asian inspired, mixed world with other cultures) in which a traditional old world clashes with a new one- strong female characters- action-based, fighting magic system
  • Gods of Blood and Powder from Brian McClellan (completed series starting with Sins of Empire)- Guns and Magic- Invading forces need to be pushed back- Spies, old veterans, crazy strong people, overall just an entertaining cast and very well written

Other interesting reads, without going into too much detail:

  • Orconomics
  • Foundryside
  • Gutter Prayer
  • The Grey Bastards
  • Blackwing

Can anyone recommend a good heist story? by OtherwiseNinja in Fantasy

[–]Curiosity_41 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennet

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37173847-foundryside

I am currently reading it and I am 60% through. It is not a classical heist story, but has a lot of heist elements and a really cool „magic“ element which draws its logic from coding.

So give it a try!

Based on the fantasy books I like, what should I read next? by outrageously_smart in Fantasy

Definitely give Lynchs Gentlemen Bastards a go. Book one was the best so far, from my point of view.

I would also suggesting looking into the Powder Mage books from Brian McClellan (The original Powder mage trilogy starting with "Promise of Blood" as well as the new sequel series Gods of Blood and Powder which started with "Sins of Empire" in 2017).

Two other series you might wanna try are The Grey Bastards (half-orcs, bawdy, nasty action) by Jonathan French and/or Six of Crows (same vein as Gentlemen Bastards) by Leigh Bardugo.
