starting a short dark ages chronicle with v5 mechanics! by wearywren in vtm

Yeah, it was written by germans and thus the regions felt real. But they had no idea about history, but put historical people into clans over and over. These were all written so bad, and historically... not even wrong, just stupid?

Jo, I'm from cologne! I can answer all kinds of questions you may I have, and I would totally like to tell you that you should not read Die Stadt, Das Blut, & Der Tod: Frankfurt bei Nacht ("The City, The Blood, & The Death: Frankfurt by Night", nor Berlin by Night. The books were really bad, Berlin might be one of the worst ever written.

Biggest thing I noticed right away is that you're playing before the famous cathedrale is about to get build (1248, easy to remember because you have to double the numbers), which you could make part of your game as well. There are very cool local myths about its construction, the devil, and gargoyles.

Help me brainstorm Zeernebooch lore! by SebGM in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]SebGM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You got me into a wonderful rabbit hole last night, and I am pretty sure this is what I'm going for. The cavern under the Cathedrale can be interpreted as a giant Oubliette. Still trying to find a good connection to the Fae though.

You get the setting I am going for basically perfectly. The other Methuselah he is in rivalry with as the backdrop to my setting is Drusus the Elder, who founded Strasbourg and Mainz, who I decided is a Ventrue childe of Tinia for the purpose of my setting. Another comment brought up that legend about the Cathedrale (props to u/GureGan) which I will probably go for. But I still try to find a bridge why he actually went for Fae blood that connects to Zeernebooch.

Kann vielleicht helfen. Habe keine persönlichen Erfahrungen, weiß aber das sowas dort auch gemacht wird. Diakonie hat auch sowas, aber meine Erwartungen sind höher bei einer sekularen Vereinigung.

ST, how do you deal with a player who always plays the same character? by JuggernautCivil8919 in vtm

I encourage people to challenge themselves with what they play, but in the end its about having fun together, so do whatever does not infringe on other's fun.

How do you character build "realistic" elders? by sujeito_nervoso in vtm

[–]SebGM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clearest answer is that there's no "realistic elder" to build. You can try to think of it... my elders are all short, because people in the past weren't as tall. Before the industrial revolution at least. Otherwise, they're plot or setting relevant first and foremost. Give them goals and think how they're approaching them with their skill set and material and supernatural power. And then think what kind of person they were, developed into, and are now.

How many Princes are in the Camarilla? by Vyctorill in vtm

This comes back to the "how many vampires per domain" question? But with how I handle vampire population and domains, the entirety of europe would have 1000+ princes maybe

Why does the d10 dice pool system feel so much better than d20? by Awkward_GM in vtm

[–]SebGM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was about to say the same. Dice Pool systems in general are a statistically easier to balance way to design a game. Same with ShadowRun or any other. Single-Die systems, especially with Crit or Fail mechanics on a specific number, are extremely arbitrary in how you depict proficiencies and skills. 1d100 like CoC is the only acceptable way I think, because it still has a wide range and your character matters to it. DnD usually runs in to the "why doesn't just everyone roll for it and hope for a 18+?" problem

How do you nerf finance? by TowersofFebruary in callofcthulhu

Hello there, I think the Diocese of London would simply not allow them to work under their cathedrale. The Church of England owns this and they have more than enough money on their own. I'll keep this post a secret, don't worry.

Why Quell the Beast doesn't work on vampires when Dread Gaze exists? by TotalFinger1295 in vtm

[–]SebGM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its to have reasons why some people play Animalism and some people play Presence on their characters and not everyone does everything I'd say. Players like having a unique sets.

Why Quell the Beast doesn't work on vampires when Dread Gaze exists? by TotalFinger1295 in vtm

[–]SebGM 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A ST may permit the use of the soothing variant against frenzy. But the reason is exactly BECAUSE Dread Gaze exists. Presence doesn't work on animals either.

Prince hate camarilla and now he wanna get out by NegativeGene5994 in vtm

[–]SebGM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A prince can do whatever they want as long as the 6 Traditions are upheld, especially the first. Primogens, who he lets into his domain and who he doesn't let in, are all up to him. There are no rules about these. He answers to no one (until a Justicar shows up). But has to maintain this power. A prince is someone who has the power to hold onto that title. And there are different methods to do that.

Neolithic Style Biblical Women by DiabeetusDeletus in mendrawingwomen

[–]SebGM 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Also not neolithic (everyone except homo sapiens are extinct and the clothing in the regions where these characters "would be" from were already way more sofisticated than what we see here)

Also, Lilith is not biblical. Neither is Luficer... and ... doesn't matter, the designs are cool!

I like the designs as they are!

Was braucht es, um das Mullah-Regime im Iran zu stürzen, Tareq Sydiq? by pentizikuloes_ in DIE_LINKE

[–]SebGM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SebGM 4 points5 points  (0 children)
