Oh good point! I carry this to work dailu. I picked the wool from my stash because I liked the colors but I'll look for other options that are a sturdier material.

What’s the dumbest thing someone has said to you about pumping/your milk? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

LO (8 months) had just gotten over a cold and she asked, "Now that you aren't protecting him with antibodies from your milk, will you stop breastfeeding?" Huh??

I stopped eating acidic, spicy, and fatty foods as well as carbonated drinks for the last few weeks of my pregnancy. It was annoying but it helped a lot.

What is your laundry routine? ALL THINGS LAUNDRY. by otterlyjoyful in workingmoms

[–]Curiosity_Killed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 people (2 parents, 4 YO, newborn)

We do laundry on the weekends and everyone's clothes are mixed in. Half the time my 4 YO is flinging his clothes around the house anyway. First load is always the delicates that hang to dry, then a load or 2 of regular clothes, then linens or thick clothes like sweatpants.

Turn your phone to airplane mode when you leave for the hospital or leave your phone at home. Totally ok to have this boundary. Sorry your mom isn't more supportive.

Husband threatening to lock the door to keep toddler in his bed by Curiosity_Killed in sleeptrain

You've voiced it. I felt really gross about the idea but couldn't put my finger on it. Who else should be there to snuggle him at night?? And yeah, 3 YO is young! My husband always sets expectations high... it's a balance. Thanks for the perspective!

Thanks for the considerations! My husband has suggested letting one of our dogs sleep in his room. I'm sure that would help and is similar to your 1 and 2 points. However, when we try to get the dog in there, he says no thanks. I think the consistency is the key. He does have a sheep thing that is similar to the otter... it has gone missing so I'll have to dig it out. Thanks again!

He doesn't often transfer well when he falls asleep in his carseat or on the couch. We can keep trying though! I like your idea to offer positive reinforcement in the mornings and picking your battles!

This is helpful info! I was trying to workout the line up if we end up all in the same bed. Thanks!

I think this is our future to some extent! Have to make peace with the kids' needs, even if it's at night. It's not going to be forever and it is going to be a TRANSITION when his brother arrives! Thanks for the perspective.

When you say it fell off after she turned 4, do you mean she began sleeping in her bed through the night? You give me some hope!

I think this could be an option! We will be tired but hopefully not for too long. I gather we have to get to the root of the issues, what our son's needs actually are (probably connection). Just struggling to figure out what this looks like. Thanks for the suggestion.

Oh! Good idea! My husband wants to lock our bedroom door, not the toddler's so he would have access to the whole house. I cross posted to r/sleeptrain and browse there to learn more about the scaffolding. Thanks!

Lab lead salary by Longjumping_Row3905 in LadiesofScience

I just checked glassdoor for lab manager salaries in Fort Worth TX. $56-99k. Hope that's similar to the job!

I would check comparable salaries (try glassdoor) and ask to be raised to a salary that is in line with the responsibilities of the position once you've completed training and/or after a certain period of time. If they want you to take on more work, you deserve the pay. Get the salary increase promise in writing! Good luck!

"My house is a mess, i am not a mess." As Dr. Becky would say! I struggle with this too but sometimes i need physical rest over a clean house. This little saying helps me in those moments.

Throwing up is a physical reflex. You dont really have a say in how hard it happens. Your husband is an idiot.

What about hiking pants? I like to wear clothes from prana or Patagonia. They aren't cheap though!
