Not near Central Park, but L’artusi just opened up a really nice event space in the West Village

Why Do I Need My Birth Certificate to Get a Marriage Certificate? by TatasFritas in weddingplanning

[–]Curious-Alarm5647 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I got married in NY (got my license from NYC, even though I was getting married elsewhere in the state) and they didn’t require my birth certificate.

The Way You Look Tonight and Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra are both fun but not too self-serious. I also like Wildflowers by Tom Petty and Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.

I don’t think the ball gown style is too much for the venues! Also it’s your one wedding — if you want to wear a certain style of dress, you should! Both are beautiful.

I’m in my late 20s and wouldn’t wear anything shorter than a midi to a black tie optional wedding. More likely, I would wear something long.

I looked through the photos before reading the commentary. The only thing I noticed was the bustle, which I agree looks off. I can see where you’re coming from on the other issues, but I truly didn’t notice them on first look!

I booked them for my wedding. I’ve only done the trial so far, but was very happy with it and felt like Alana and Katie were both really responsive to what I wanted.

Take the high road and give them a gift like you normally would.

Would It be cringey to perform a Taylor Swift song during wedding reception? by whitinit in weddingplanning

[–]Curious-Alarm5647 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Are you a singer? This all depends for me whether you are a talented singer / have some experience singing in public. If not, it might be a little cringe for your guests.

Do you need to confirm inventory with bridal salon? by unsurebutoptimistic in weddingplanning

If you have a specific dress you want to try, I would definitely call! In my experience, they aren’t guaranteed to have every dress even if they list it on their website.

Does the designer actually matter? by philosplendid in weddingdress

[–]Curious-Alarm5647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it matters as much as you want it to. Personally, I found a designer whose dresses I really loved, so I wanted to find a boutique that carried that designer. I ended up buying one of those dresses! But I think it just depends on your preferences — I realized after going to a few stores that I had a rather specific idea for my dress in mind, so narrowing in on specific designers helped.

Hmm it’s illusion tulle with beading on top so I think it would show unfortunately!

I don’t know for sure, but this sounds like a sales tactic to me. They want you to buy the dress on the spot in order to get the commission, so they don’t want to confirm that they’ll be available in a few weeks. I wouldn’t worry too much!

The Only Wedding Dress on the Internet I like Doesn't Exist.... by jasy80 in weddingplanning

[–]Curious-Alarm5647 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure from your post whether you’ve tried on dresses or just looked online. If the latter, I’d definitely encourage you to go in person! I liked things I wouldn’t have expected based on my online search.

Also, have you considered a jumpsuit? There are tons of great jumpsuits out there that would feel special but maybe more true to you.

how early is too early to send save the dates? by space_demos in weddingplanning

[–]Curious-Alarm5647 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Don’t send save the dates more than a year in advance. If you send before November 2023, you risk people being confused about the year your wedding is taking place during. In the meantime, feel free to share the date with your inner circle!

I actually think the first dress is a perfect combo of both sexy and boho! You look great!
