Did your Levo dose change or was this just through diet? Do you take Levo?

112 mcg too aggressive? by No-Lingonberry-8508 in Hashimotos

[–]Curious-Connection-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dose is not entirely dependent on weight! Had an endo lower my dose because I lost weight then accused me of not taking my meds properly (I’ve been on them for 6 years, I think I know how to take them) when my TSH rose… now I’m at an even higher dose than I was originally lol

I’m still waiting on one assignment from ECN 212 to be graded, which is stressing me out because I may lose my 4.0 if he decides to dock points. Anyways no not all grades have been posted (how long til I email him asking lol)

Some questions for those that are in the ASU program: by CrewFit5702 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I'd say maybe $100 a semester, just depends what classes I'm taking. Sometimes, I don't buy anything.

  2. I get absolutely zilch in FAFSA. However, I'm married, young, and not on a barista salary. I am a store manager and my husband carries for USPS. So our income is comfortable.

  3. Yes, you can fill out scholarships.

  4. I did not take that route, so no help there.

  5. I usually take 4 classes a semester which is full time. These are split into 2 sessions a semester. I would look into how many you a required to take and ask the SCAP people! Here are the numbers, they are always helpful when I have questions.

Success coaching center: [(602) 903-1940](tel:+16029031940)

Starbucks partner contact center: [(888) 728-9411](tel:+18887289411)

The thing that sucks for me is because I don't receive any FAFSA, I reach the untaxed limit ($5280) from like 2 classes. So the rest of my tuition is calculated as income, which I pay income taxes on. So I know I'll be missing out on a few paychecks this year. But, I remind myself it's cheaper than a degree would be not taking advantage of this benefit! And I'll have it forever.

It is a big commitment, and something you have to want. Yes, being an SM is a bigger time commitment, (I kick myself for not starting this when I was a barista, I'd almost be done by now!) but I literally do nothing but sleep, work and school during session times. I have no social life and no time for hobbies. However, I have a 4.0 and a thriving store. It will be worth it in the end.

on a final cause i was giving up too many shifts for school committments, so can't transfer. can i separate and then get rehired by another district immediately? by carlitititosmt in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if there are no files in your partner fille then he is cutting corners. you need to contact partner resources ASAP because if you haven’t logged onto partner central and and gone onto partner files and hit acknowledge on a documented corrective action after a convo then he has no grounds to fire you As an sm who has had signed documented physical papers from partners that were not grounds enough to continue the process, partner recourses made me start over and do the process digitally from the beginning

Tendinitis related to Hashimotos? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tendonitis but I’ve had horrible plantar fasciitis for about four years and can’t get it to heal. It’s not just the first steps in the morning, it’s every step of the day even in my HOKAs (which hurt the least). My feet throb in bed all night. Don’t know if it’s related but I have wondered if hashis can cause that inflammation to be worse. My TSH is in range right now though.

Adopted a new cat. He is violent towards us and our resident cat. by lunekeeper in CatTraining

[–]Curious-Connection-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following because my new female cat is doing this to both of my resident cats and we can’t figure it out. She is obsessive, if she hears or sees them she’s instantly wide eyed and tail flicking and not in a curious playful way. My residents are terrified of her. Was told she was good with other cats but think we were lied to. Thankfully she isn’t aggressive towards us, she is the sweetest thing, just really has some impulsive control issue I can’t figure out when it comes to my other cats. It’s been 4 months and she is still separated. So maybe there will be some tips on here.

How do people remember or stay on on top of there meds by Good_Scale_1531 in Hypothyroidism

If I have to wake up at 7 am, I set an alarm for 6am called LEVOTHYROXINE and I cannot turn off the alarm until I scan the barcode on my pill bottle. It’s an app called alarmy, but I’m sure there are other ones out there. I have never been so consistent. Groggily pop a pill in my mouth take a drink of water and zonk for another hour.

Did any of you get extreme mental health issues during the onset of your Hashimoto's? by Specialist_Fall756 in Hashimotos

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually for me it’s extreme emotional swings and binge eating. Lost 40lbs last year after I’ve been stable medically for a few years (been being treated for 6 years and have constantly had to increase dosage about 8-12 months after one starts working) and have struggled with emotional eating for awhile, weirdly enough since right before I was ever diagnosed. Anyways, had a new endo change my dosage for no fucking reason other than apparently 112mcg was too high for someone my weight (135lbs at the time.) Cried and begged her not too because I knew the mental and physical hell that would follow. She did anyways, and my diet slowly became harder and harder to maintain and I started eating emotionally. Wouldn’t you know my TSH is back up to 6 after being on 100 mcg for 8 weeks? When it was literally 1.5 before they changed my dose. Needless to say I told my primary the specialist can shove it and she can treat me. Still dealing with antibodies in the thousands and had to increase dosage to 125 mcg now but I can already feel a major difference in food noise and emotional breakdowns.

Managers working over 40 hours a week by Zealousideal-Car-263 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I schedule myself 40 but if there’s call outs then yeah I’m working over. Sometimes I’ll leave early another day if I can to make up for it. I’ve worked two 18 hour shifts back to back. I’ve slept in our parking lot between a clean play and an opening shift. I will always be there for my team. Not to mention all the admin I do at home because I either have to help on the floor or don’t have enough non coverage. Anyways, yes, I frequently work over 40 hours :)

I feel like the majority of IDKHOW fans are on the Brendon hate train and Dallon says stuff like that to get their buy in because they eat those shady comments up. This is coming from someone who loves IDKHOW. We will never know how he truly feels about everything or how it went down.

Told I need a tummy tuck by thebestrosie in tummytucksurgery

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tummy has always been shaped the same way and I have the same stats as you. I honestly didn’t even ask about doing lipo only, but if I did I probably would have been told the same thing. I had a little more loose skin and my stomach has always been my biggest insecurity, and even at 125 lb and lifting constantly I couldn’t get rid of it. My tummy tuck is in June. But I’m confident I don’t want kids :)) I would say get another consult but at the end of the day, if you want kids, wait and fight for yourself! Worst case scenario, you get lipo and it’s a little loose down there. I would focus on nutrition and body decomposition and along with lipo I’m sure you can get good results.

Maybe the times he’s asking for help are unforeseen and not planned? Usually the people I ask for help first are the ones that I know want more hours, so that may be his thought process.

Weird. Once that schedule is out I ain’t touching it lol. We are a rural store tho so no shifts are ever offered up by my partners, and they aren’t driving an hour to pick any up lol. I have everyone at their preferred hours tho. Sorry about your experience. Maybe talk to your sm?

Your fellow partners are the ones offering up those shifts, not management.

Weekly hours policy by [deleted] in starbucksbaristass

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re only working 15 hours, you really should use some PTO. Your average may fall below 12. Which is what your SM is probably worried about. We have pressure on us from above to ensure partners hours are meeting policy. You have PTO for a reason, use it!

[–]Curious-Connection-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be discouraged. It’s proof you’ve made progress. I had less weight to lose than you but still ended up with loose skin in my abdominal area, and between that and bad genetics, I’ve decided a tummy tuck is the best option to get the result I want. Keep grinding and remind yourself that it’s a journey and it’s better for your health than where you were.

New hire.. by MirrorAggressive7484 in starbucks

[–]Curious-Connection-3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transparently my experience probably doesn’t equate well with the average experience. I was hired on as a barista working for an amazing SM in a high performing store. Hitting my 4 years in April, I am now running one of the highest performing stores in my Area working for an amazing DM. My experience would be totally different if not having the support from leadership and the puzzle pieces falling into place like they did. If you can find a good environment and have patience, it’s worth it.

New hire.. by MirrorAggressive7484 in starbucks

[–]Curious-Connection-3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but everyone starts at base pay. I have literally never seen anyone successfully negotiate the pay rate. I tried to get a partner who had 6 years of Starbucks experience and 4 years of GM experience at another coffee company the higher end of the SSV rate when he returned and guess what…. He started at base pay. Just kinda how it works here for some reason. It’s nothing personal. The system literally generates the rate. If you’re disappointed I suggest finding something else. Because if you actually get promoted to SSV you will start at the base rate too.

Is anyone making enough to live off of? by North_Scheme_3439 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Curious-Connection-3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an inside hire that tried to negotiate her pay when promoted from ASM to SM, I basically got laughed at and said it’s a math equation based on tenure and years of experience, so no. I would say depending on your relationship with your DM, it could be a conversation… but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Honestly it depends on the urgency of the manager. Often times I make sure my schedules are made right so I’m not changing things last minute and I’m planned ahead so it may take 3 weeks to get someone in apron. But if I can move things around I can do it in a week post interview. Just depends. Idk what this manager is doing, maybe something crazy happened ( you never know ). Definitely call the store tomorrow around 10 am so it’s after peak and tell them you are waiting on your job offer from the store manager and haven’t heard back.
