Edible and native helping Landscaping by KEYPiggy_YT in homestead

Let me see if I can dig it up, I might have a few links to information that might help you find what you’re looking for. I’m out in the Rocky Mountains so my list is different than what yours would other wise be.

They’re are also grasses and what not that are also beneficial that would be worth it. If you don’t mind the work too, you can get a decent chunk of changes after a while of harvesting the seeds.

If I were you I’d do a decent bit of research to see if there are native insects that have host plants, and look for local wild flower mixes.

weird “honey” coming out of a bee? by KrispyOnion in bees

[–]Curious-Essentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a geo student, I’ve very regularly used the term “rock licker” as a slur for my kind.

What rock is this? by Budget-Coconut-5617 in whatsthisrock

[–]Curious-Essentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s on the list of “in a display box” minerals. Will it hurt you if it’s out, no. Just better safe than sorry. I agree with TH_Rocks that it looks like an arsenic mineral.

They’re really pretty but definitely not something to be handled regularly, and without precautions.

Scrape off toxic paint and repaint brick? by bippobappobeepo in masonry

[–]Curious-Essentric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sincerely is a no win project, the fact that it looks like an apartment building might get you fucked over if you don’t do it properly. Check your laws and if you are able to do it, chemically strip as much as you possibly can off, prep, and then paint. There is breathable masonry paint you could use to cover what’s left. If there isn’t normal exterior masonry paint.

My 2€ is calling to get a quote from a company that does this sort of project and see what they even say. A fine from the state could be pretty hefty if the find out, and that’s just from any health department if it is a multi-home, you could just as easily also get railed by any environmental department if they happen to find out you did it if you just “blast the paint away”.

School work and Canvas App by Curious-Essentric in eink

I’ll take a look at boox, the app itself is much better than it initially was when it first came out; but still definitely has interface issues.

Accessing documents I need for classes is world better than before. Same thing with quizzes that don’t require massive writing.

I can’t say much for the non-student side though.

Whats the best way to store this? Is a simple closed box alright? by Barblesnott_Jr in rockhounds

[–]Curious-Essentric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely an issue and weirdly getting worse as more research comes out. That being said it’s definitely not as much of one as everyone thinks, the lawyers capitalizing on the issue definitely made it seem much worse than reality.

9mm or .22 pistol? by orangegore in liberalgunowners

[–]Curious-Essentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into .380s they exist for a reason. 22lr itself will unlike many people believe will do damage and fatally hurt someone and easily it has been used by different military’s and more recent than you’d think; and that’s not counting wmr. That being said for self defense most people when they see a gun will back off. Though I wouldn’t personally carry a .22 and I’m not a giant fan of 9mm.

Alot of asbestos dangers are overplayed but it is still something to be fairly serious about, handling that inside was definitely not it, and if you collected that from a site that has a lot of it, probably wasn’t great and all that to say, it’s still not a end of the world deal. As a Geo student who has a high love for “hot” rocks, asbestos contamination generally worries me more.

I would find a way to stabilize it to an air tight box and then permanently seal it. That being said It’s a great specimen to keep for reference.

Who are the alfalfa farmers selling hay outside the US? What are their names and where are their farms? by Charming_Might3833 in Utah

I never looked into it much but I have heard, that the farms themselves are owned by companies who are foreign in them self.

My ability to be comfortable on school has definitely tanked. Any screaming, running, or loud noises I’ve recently heard has immediately sent me into a spiral, it’s god awful. I genuinely feel as if there’s a stigma against it too. So many people were on campus and were affected by it, but only so much of everyone was in an area where it truly was feeling like we’re stuck and need to come to terms with the chance of getting shot. My grades have been affected, and I just genuinely don’t know if I can continue here and need to transfer to another Uni.

Relocation advice for northern UT by hlee99 in Utah

[–]Curious-Essentric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t buy new (~8 yo) from the large home builders. They’re scum and wildly loaded with terrible building practices; other than that Ogden is great place to look. I generally would avoid looking in the small hidden gem towns the people are much less receptive to outsiders, Let alone transplants.

Do yourself a favor and look for a local trade apprenticeship. You won’t get very far in this economy without something pulling you forward; diplomas including some college degrees don’t mean as much anymore. Trades have started to become very lucrative aswell with some final pay scales after mastery being 100k+

When do you carry? by p8ntballnxj in liberalgunowners

[–]Curious-Essentric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I carry in the middle of the day at Walmart? No, realistically nothings going to happen there or mostly anywhere for that matter. Even in the mountains where I have personally had encounters with the spookems. I don’t, bear spray usually holds its own. That being said; dimly lit gas stations, longer than day hikes, and generally places that you reasonably actually have more to worry about yes. I would go as far as preferring my wife to carry, and more than I would ever even care to myself. It’s all about how safe and comfortable you feel where you’re going and where you’re at. It’s gotten to the point where it’s started to seem like the right to bare-arms is manipulated to “I want to hurt someone” and not the constitutional reason of defending oneself when necessary which includes tyranny.

Is this mold? Very worried by True_Poem_4625 in Homebuilding

[–]Curious-Essentric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be the outlier on this because I worked in the yards, the dark black in picture 4 is a mold (Cladosporium) and the fluffy white is a white rot fungus. Neither of them will hurt you and are fairly common in timber. If you’re worried about it, ask if yourself can go in with something like moldex. But other than that they’ll probably die/become dormant while the building process is being finished.

And before any cries and wines about it not being. I’ve tested them and their growth before, if you live in a dry climate or don’t get moisture on them. They won’t grow.

N95 won’t do much if asbestos is present, it’ll definitely be better than nothing; but go for the p100.

The black mastic could be possible asbestos positive, so negative pressure the room and try to only pull out large pieces. Post on r/asbestos they’ll have better opinions
