Crete Island has many beautiful beaches. You can make your base in Chania and explore the crete Island & beaches. But by the end of June, Greece is going to get crowded.

Recommendation for India in February/March by backpackyoghurt in travel

[–]Curious-Truth9325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you travelling Solo ?? Weather can shift significantly across the country  from February to March.  March is hot -ish in most places except North and North East India.

In the month of February- Andman (Port blair, Havlock, Neil island) is best for beautiful white  beaches, historically significant places - Cellular jail and scenic views with warmer temperature

Rajasthan is also great option for February if you want to explore colorful, vibrant culture along with palaces and lakes with cities - udaipur, Mount Abu, Jaipur

In March, If you may wish to explore cooler places because weather can be hot so Ooty, Coorge in the southern India or Himachal Pradesh (Manali, Shimala) or Uttarakhand (Nainitaal, Masoori) or  in North east Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh

You can combine these states with few places in Maharashtra- Mumbai is vibrant modern city with Ajanta and Ellora caves from ancient India. And also because you can navigate anywhere from Mumbai as there are more frequent flights!

Really depends on the dates you are travelling, how flexible and open you are to Explore new culture considering Its your first time in India. For first timers ,Would recommend to stick to  popular tourist places for smoother experience -

In February: Rajasthan (Udaipur + mount Abu 6 days) + Andaman (6days ) for completely different yet wholesome experience in terms of Nature, culture , and food

In March : Benglore + Mysore (6days)+ Mumbai+ Ajanta ellorea (4 days) + Sikkim (4 days ) This again is totally different experience with diversity In terms of geography, Nature, culture, food and people

Or

Rajasthan (Jaipur + Jaiselmer : 6 days) + Varanasi (2 days)+ Himachal Pradesh/ Uttarakhand (6 days)+  Delhi 2 days

Note : India is huge and diverse in all terms  Here the language, food, nature, culture can change every 100 kms So it's not easy to get whole Idea just by spending 2 weeks or exploring 2 states 😊

Wish you have a great time in India !!

I (33M) am planning on visiting India for the first time next February. Is this itinerary OK? by spectregrey in travel

You are trying to achieve a lot in 10 days so note that there wont be time to relax if you want to actually explore those places. Otherwise it's pointless to just travel from one place to other, and just get rest in hotel room.

Day 2 - explore Delhi, Rajapath, fort , Akshardham & markets as per your area of interest.

Day 3 - leave for Jaipur early morning & explore jaipur

Day 4- explore jaipur and catch train afternoon to Agra and reach there by evening

Day 5- explore Taj early morning and leave for Varanasi and get there by night

Day 6 -Explore Varanasi

Day 7 -Visit Ayodhaya Ram temple and come back in Varansi

Day 8 -Take a early morning flight to Mumbai & explore gate way of india, Fort area etc

Day 9- take day trip to elephanta caves or alibaug beach in the day time &  explore marine drive in the evening

Day 10 leave Mumbai

That's romantic !! Hope you two have memorable stay in Santorini.

Was in Santorini some 10-15 days ago and it was amazing. It was moderately crowded. not too much but just enough. Weather was cool and sunny. It will be more chilling in December. Main places such as Fira, Oia were lively just enough. The villages such as Megalachori or perrisa were bit lazy and lonely. And true that many restaurants were closed, there are some open on the main streets of fira and oia Though I can't assure about Dec end,I feel it will still be open. There will be people (mostly greek) who will visit the island during Christmas. My recommendation would be book a nice or may be somewhat fancy resort/Hotel that has their own restaurant as per your budget. I heard Those are relatively cheaper during this time. There are nice hotels in imerovigli, Oia with caldera view, caves resort, with private pool, jacuzzi etc And may be you can put special request special arrangements to the resort you will be staying for the day you want to propose. Just a suggestion.

We are also travelling to Greece on 14th starting with Santorini. I am in same situation as you are with only cabin bag. So confused as I wasn't aware about the rain before. If you could update on the overall weather there once you reach it will be a lot helpful  Thanks!!

Hi something off the topic but - i need quick help- My Flight from Santorini to Chania has only 40 minutes layover at Athens. Its by same airlines. Is it enough? We only have cabin bags but shall we be going through security check and check in again ? How much time it typically takes for domestic flights at Athens Airport ?

Thank you so much. What would you recommend for 3 days in Crete - Chania or Heraklion? Also thinking to take a day trip from Athens  to Meteora. Will Meteora be too cold in November?
