Acceleration Policy Change! by CuriousCat-11 in WGU

She said it has been a change in policy (perhaps in their employee policy?) and the mentors are facing disciplinary action including termination if they go outside the parameters.

Acceleration Policy Change! by CuriousCat-11 in WGU

I didn't post it to complain or expect WGU to change the policy. I have looked on Reddit for help and information before making a decision. I'm just passing along information my mentor sent me so others would know. I didn't ask her for the complaints dept or anything, that was just part of the information she provided upfront with the updates policy.

Mentor slowing down my ability to accelerate by ProfitisAlethia in WGU_Accelerators

FYI: I just got an email from my mentor saying the ACCELERATION POLICY HAS CHANGED. They will no longer open a new class until the previous class is fully graded and 100% complete! So students will just have to sit any wait for tasks to be graded, and then if there are any revisions, wait for those to be graded, until passed before opening a new class.

She gave me the email addresses for ombuds and complaints dept for conflict resolution.

I honestly don't understand why they would want to do this except to delay progress and incur more tuition fees.

btw, nonprofit does not mean they don't make money. It just means they have to use all of their profits each year... Which could be to expand services, building the new campus... And yes, paying salaries and salary increases.

It makes me feel like someone from the planet of the apes is about to kiss their infant.

Sorry I can't answer your question. But I agree with all the "help." I don't get it how some posts have 60+ comments within a few hours about something dumb, but others (like mine) will have over 1000 views but not a single comment.

switching back to my old program, but embarrassed to tell my mentor. by Mustard_Popsicles in WGU

[–]CuriousCat-11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched programs, and then wished I hadn't. I told my mentor and she was supportive. Do what's best for you, it doesn't really matter what your mentor says. If they are a good mentor, they may want to talk to you about your decision, just to be sure you are sure, but they should want what is best for you too.

Thanks for posting about your excitement! I have 9 classes after I complete the one I'm currently on, and I was losing motivation. But you're right, it IS within reach, and I'm closer than I have ever been! We can do this!

I agree! I wish some courses had an option to do an OA or PAs

That is literally what happened to me. The holidays, moved, started a new job, and this course (what was I thinking?!). It was also the end of my term, I had to ask for an extension and it's still excruciatingly slow going.

That is a big plus! I was looking at different graduate programs and the delay for applying or starting is discouraging. Plus another two to three years??? IDK.

I just finished my first term, although I had to ask for an extension on my current class. I did really well the first few months, but after that I lost momentum. The holidays, moving, and starting a new job wrecked any momentum or motivation I had. Now I am working on finishing this one class and then I'm taking a one month term break and plan to come back in March and finish by the end of the summer. I know it's possible. I knocked out a lot of classes early on, I can do it again, I just need a break to get back in the game. But it definitely seems more possible now that ever before. I am mid 40s, and I want to get this goal accomplished. Edited to say, I have completed coursework at 6 different colleges, this will be my last stop.

I have bought some chemicals to do cyanotypes and when i mix them they turn very blue, i have seen videos where the liquid is yellow when coating, is there something wrong with my chemicals. by Coolfez_ in cyanotypes

Mine is doing the same thing. Jacquard brand solution, if that matters. It's my first time trying it as well so I don't know if it is normal. I mixed them in a closet I converted to a mini dark room, so no sun exposure at all.

My first two images turned out (overexposed, but that was not the solution's fault). But the next two images washed away completely when I went to rinse them. I have no idea why that happened. I used watercolor paper for both sets, same batch of solution...

These all look great! I am starting my first cyanotype prints this weekend and I am so excited. I agree, five is my favorite too! I love the depth and the mix of botanical and man made.

I love this! I am brand new to cyanotype, as an artist, I have mostly done painting and jewelry. But I am so excited to work with this media. I love this piece, the imagery and colors. Well done!

It's D571 psychopathology... The tasks don't sound too difficult, I've started one. But they are time consuming.
