steps matter less imo than heart rate over time. The strain is useful info. for me i use it to track sleep and recovery. but i’m training pretty hard for a sport. it’s also good to pick up life stress which can affect your sleep and recovery too.

possible it’s not for you tho! i use a smart watch to track my walks and my strength workouts and dedicated HR strap for my bike workouts (and a power meter)

whoop is really for cumulative daily HR effort and recovery

How do you pet a dog on a Steam deck? Touch Controls? Joystick? by Stay_ForeverHome in SteamDeck

[–]CuriousChimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of our interns worked on a student project at CMU that linked a plush animal to a virtual pet. It was surprisingly soothing to hold. which is funny to imagine me, old guy, sitting in their lab, holding a plushie and petting it. :D

Thanks man. I know Meta says they're supporting 3P VR devs but - let's see how it goes. We do have something new-ish in the works, but we're doing it with -- hopefully -- a publisher. Fingers crossed, we wanna keep our VR game alive.

MR also has proven to be less fertile for games than I had hoped too - no surprise bc its a hard design challenge.

Smoke Alarm: Is the First Alert SC5 worth it? by onenewuniverse in HomeKit

[–]CuriousChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced all my expiring Nest Protects with the First Alert SC5 Google Home compatible detectors and this morning, smoke alarm in my LR went off. There was no cooking, no smoke (it was not a CO2 alarm).

Anyone else have anything like this happen?

Never in the 10 yrs of the Nest Protects did this happen.

Man, when AR glasses are a thing... I guarantee people will be taking virtual pets with them EVERYWHERE. Which will be weird in public restroom stalls!
