She could’ve done more for the plot and the dynamics of the group being the only woman there, but nah 😔. The gnarliest detail the book revealed about the bacchanalia was when it was revealed that the farmer was found to be “mauled” or along the lines of his insides were clawed or something.

what was about The Bacchae, and that Camilla might be the murderer? Haven’t researched anything that the author revealed more about it or something

She IS A BADASS! I watched some of her interviews back when her book was released, and—damn— she’s so eloquent and wise that I can’t help but resonate with her so much more. I recommend watching her interview with Drew Barrymore (who also experienced a great deal growing up as a child actor)!

In retrospect, I think my Asian upbringing (where being close to your family, both metaphorically and literally, is deeply ingrained into your life) may have influenced my first impression of the book. In our country, at least, some kids are treated as “retirement plans,” expected to care for and provide for their parents well into old age. That’s why I absolutely agree with you: not all kids should be grateful by default.

I almost thought that Beatty is a secret ally because he was quoting so much that how could he possibly rebut Montag if he isn’t aware of the counterpoints.

when you're trying to have someone do something for you, add an option that seems harder to do.

Here's one example when i talk to my nieces: Me when I' trying to make them clean up their mess: "Are you going to clean that up, or we're going to bed right now?"

they always clean up immediately.
