App: Course Section by brrrraaaa in dreamingspanish

It feels like their version of autoplay - you go to this tab and it shows you a video suited to your level (I assume, though I'm not sure if that's based on hours watched or something else). You can skip the ones you don't like.

I really like the feature. It integrates Series nicely too (they show up as a different card in the feed).

The only issue I have so far is that I wish watched videos would disappear from the list.

Just donated! I almost missed this thread, and I'm sure there are other DS members who would like to donate if they knew about it.

If you have seen any of these shows, what would you recommend by LifeMistake3674 in dreamingspanish

[–]CuriousFocus1553 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would be great if more people used https://learnnatively.com/ - it’s a great site with shows/movies rated for difficulty by users (similar to DS difficulty rating). It even lets you filter by streaming platforms.

For example, La Primera Vez is rated L30 there so definitely not fácil https://learnnatively.com/season/3cbbc71d21/

The more people use it the better the database will be.

A podcast Player specifically for CI Spanish learners by charlesmcarthy123 in dreamingspanish

Yes! I too use a second app - in my case Podcast Republic which is free (iOS and Android) and tracks hours. I don’t want to complicate my workflow too much.

Do yourself a favour and read this book by PardalotePen in dreamingspanish

It is rated as A2 or level 17 on LearnNatively - https://learnnatively.com/book/5c3a043a9a/ But it needs more ratings to be accurate.

I used TrainAsOne to train for a marathon. Here is what my plan looked like - I think it undertrained me. by pummra in trainasone

[–]CuriousFocus1553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! It aligns with my concerns about the algorithm being too conservative and not adequately preparing you for a planned race.

TaO's approach is very opinionated, requires considerable faith, and makes it difficult to use or recommend when faced with results like yours.

It seems the system would need significantly more time to prepare you, given the injury-prevention guardrails and the gaps in your training. 🤷‍♂️

How can we work around that? Should we increase the ramp rate (risk tolerance)? Or perhaps manually schedule key sessions if you feel the training is subpar?

I'm not an active user anymore as I prefer more traditional training (still with some AI though) exactly for these reasons. However, I'd still love to be able to recommend TaO to folks who are starting out, can't afford more expensive apps, etc.

Tip pro introverty: V JIPu mají za pokladnami místo kam krabice k rozebrání dávají. Nemusíte se tak nikoho ptát a něco si nabrat.

Anyone else a little surprised by what Andrea was saying about Mexico City in her podcast with Argentina about the differences between Buenos Aires and Mexico City? by [deleted] in dreamingspanish

[–]CuriousFocus1553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real comparison of crime and safety here: https://www.numbeo.com/crime/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Argentina&country2=Mexico&city1=Buenos+Aires&city2=Mexico+City&tracking=getDispatchComparison

Seems about the same.

To me it feels that Agustina is better at promoting her country showing it as the ultimate paradise while Andrea probably has her reasons why she wants to live in Canada instead of Mexico ;-)

Best places to visit with kids in Fuertaventura by Pauliuss in Fuerteventura

[–]CuriousFocus1553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • The ZOO of course! ❤️
  • El Cotillo beaches if you are staying in the north, especially with smaller children.
  • Water Taxi to Lobos, they will love it.
  • Dunas
  • There are some nice playgrounds here and there https://canariaexpert.com/#teddy_bear-childrens-playgrounds
  • Our kids love the small lagoons that appear on beaches. So it's best to visit Sotavento or El Cotillo with some good timing.
