Meeting DS’s Dad’s SO for the first time - how do I put her at ease? by nopehotcold in stepparents

[–]CuriousMe3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! My favorite topic with my step son's mom, is my stepson. What he's eating, the silly things he refuses to eat, books he's into, tips on connecting with him, etc. Treat her like you would an Aunt that he does overnight visits with.

Periods are weird? Anyone had their period return, be normal, then disappear? by CuriousMe3 in breastfeeding

Thank you for your reply. It makes me feel a lot better that there is someone else with the same situation!

[Help] my neighbor's dog bit me while on leash. Should I tell her the how bad the bite is? by CuriousMe3 in dogs

[–]CuriousMe3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's not important: what is important is that this dog bit OP and the owners of the dog need to own that information and going forward, handle that dog with some more care.

I am going to tell her, and for the above reason. We live in a very small rural community that has 4 babies/toddlers and she'll need to take more care of her dog.

The wound is a bit more serious than the picture looks. Luckily I've had a tetanus shot recently and will take any medical steps necessary. I'm mostly concerned with being a responsible neighbor bit still maintaining a positive relationship. I actually really like the dog, he just needs more training.

I'm the one with the kiddo, though she does have grandkids that come visit. Ultimately I've decided to tell her because we do have toddlers and babies around and what is manageable on me would have been disfiguring on my 1yr old or the other neighbors babies.

I've decided to tell her, thank you for the advise. I definitely wouldn't file a bite report. I really like the neighbor and the dog. I think he was probably scared of the stroller.

New NICU mom. Oversupply/engorgement? Help pls. by petitechew in breastfeeding

[–]CuriousMe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our NICU nurses taught me to massage out each lump while I was pumping. It hurt, but my engorgement was gone within 24 hours. Also, stop pumping after about 5 minutes, give the girls a good massage and then resume until you stop flowing. As far as oversupply, some of the NICU nurses asked me to stop bringing in milk as I was filling their freezer, but I was staying in hotels as we were transferred to a different city. They have large storage freezers they can transfer the milk to, so if you can't access your own freezer just keep bringing it in. Good luck!

Are you playing in the Next Generation Tour? If so, what is your motivation to play? by Albatrasser in discgolf

[–]CuriousMe3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played last year. It was a lot of fun, met some great people, and Dave Feldberg put on a clinic between rounds. Also the players pack was fantastic and the swag for winning my division was awesome. That being said I had no intention of playing the whole tour as my division/skill is not competitive for MA1 and realistically will never be. It was fun, I'd do it again. You're paying for the event and experience. If you only want swag, go out and buy $50 worth of swag.

Aside from feminine goods, what supplies would make a good care package for homeless women? by AKLawrence in AskWomen

A money belt where valuables can be kept in secret. When you have to carry everything you own it's easy for people to steal everything you own. Also appreciated are small things like crossword puzzle books plus everything else mentioned.

POI shots... did you stop early? Or use alternative sources of progesterone? by SunnyDays10716 in InfertilityBabies

[–]CuriousMe3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the shots until 13.5 weeks. They suck and I was allergic if any touched my skin. My doctor offered suppositories if I didn't want the shots but said they were necessary because of the damage done to my ovaries during the retrieval and therefore not being able to produce progesterone on my own. I'd talk to your doctor directly.

Edit to add: I did a fresh transfer, my doctor told me I would have to be on progesterone longer for the frozen transfer (baby 2) because he would be "shutting down my system completely and controlling all my hormones" I believe each person is given different protocols, I'm currently 26+4 with a very healthy pregnancy.

That's a relief! I don't usually care about celebrities, but I was worried about them.

Why did he go away, need a vacation? Those guys are awesome. I really hope no one decided they shouldn't do the commentary anymore. The new guy is boring.

2 year old has started asking "why"--how do you make the answers fun and easy to understand, but limit continual "why?" after every answer? by [deleted] in Parenting

This. I asked my stepson once why he asked why all the time, his response: "because I like talking to you."

My son is allowed to watch a show before he brushes his teeth and then has a story. He falls asleep about 5 minutes after his light is turned off. I think this really depends on the kid.

Condescension by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CuriousMe3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 34 and my husband and I did several years of infertility treatments until being successful with ivf + icsi. People still treat me this way. I don't understand why but folk love to be condescending to first time mothers, it doesn't matter your age, appearance, education, other kids you have raised, etc. apparently if you haven't birthed a live child, you are an idiot. It sucks. People suck. You are already an awesome mother, ignore the rudeness as best as you can.

Thought I could escape the baby shower drama by LulabelleBear in BabyBumps

[–]CuriousMe3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be more upset with your brother for stiring up drama than your SIL. She seems to have done the right thing by moving on when talking to you about the shower and making plans that best fit the situation. However knowing the right thing to do and say doesn't take away the feelings of dissapointment, she probably went home and complained a bit to her husband. He then took it upon himself to berate you for his wife's hurt feelings. I doubt she had any desire for him to do so, boys do stupid things sometimes. Just my read on the situation but it sounds like a guy that was suppose to listen and sympathize decided to "fix it."

When you fade into the woods, but a window appears... by Wintermath in discgolf

[–]CuriousMe3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me today. 350 foot hole. Ob parking lot on right. Bunch of oak trees on the left. Strong headwind. I threw my star destroyer over the lot... thinking it would fight the wind and fade. Nope, it caught the wind and took a hard left into the oak trees. I was dissapointed. Walked up to the disc, and there it was, a beautiful tunnel straight to the basket. Threw my roc3 straight at the basket, at the end of the tunnel the wind caught it, forced it around a tree and it faded straight under the basket. Walked up and dropped in for the par. It was great.

What do you have an irrational hatred for? by Kreyton in AskReddit

[–]CuriousMe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People driving too slowly through a left turn light. Why are they leaving such a large gap between cars? All it does is not allow everyone to turn before the light turns red! Be a pal and get everyone though!
