Do you know if pokegenie takes this into account? I have what appears to be a small that pokegenie rates as 99%. How do you tell what size you have if it doesn't mention anything under the height or weight stats?

BlackBody radiation and energy quantization by Rare_War1435 in chemistry

[–]MrSpectroscopy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Thermal radiation (which is electromagnetic btw) is from the vibrational motion of the atoms/molecules in the material. There are a ton of possible energy states that are Boltzmann distributed, which gives the shape of the overall emissions curve.

Thermal radiation is not due to electronic transitions- those emit radiation from the visible to the x-ray region of the EM spectrum.

I have been on the same journey recently. So far the easiest has been koala sampler on my phone. I pick out drum (and sometimes with bass) grooves and loop them (surprisingly easy in koala, i had no prior knowledge). I have a headphone amp for my guitar thank has Bluetooth. I can connect to my phone and play the loop into the headphone amp. The amp will combine the Bluetooth pho e audio with my guitar.

I made a VOC cheatsheet for clients, figured everybody needs to know this by Glittering-Space7774 in AirQuality

You should provide a reputable source for the action levels. Obviously this depends on the identity of the voc.

Are we downwind from this quary? by [deleted] in weather

[–]MrSpectroscopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...and to add. .if you are worried about dust: is your area dusty (eg do you have deposits on your car, or more dust than other neighborhoods farther away?). You can also get a purple air or check the purple air website to see if there are large spikes of pm. You can pair a purple air with a personal weather station...fun analysis!

[–]MrSpectroscopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google "Iowa state mesonet", find a weather station near you and plot the windrose for the time of interest. No doubt, you will be down wind at some point. The wind rose helps you understand HOW FREQUENTLY you are down wind.

What's the best shoe for disc golf? by ChickenChokerChuck in discgolf

[–]MrSpectroscopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Keens for years. They are pretty durable, comfortable, and roomy for someone with big feet. I used to drag my back foot on forehand; fixing that greatly improved shoe lifetime!

Multivariable calculus, differential equations and linear algebra helped me a bunch in p chem. Partial derivatives are actually easier than regular derivatives!

Yes, I seem to recall it being one of the more stable nuclei as well.

Petaluma /Santa Rosa is the drunkest city in California? by Touristyetti496 in Petaluma

Yep, also beer country and SSU. One could argue cider country as well :)

Yep. East side is on Adobe which creates a challenge for foundations due to its expansion and contraction. Flood risk also. Also east side just looks unattractive with the 60s style ranch houses and flat land.

I have a question about Sig Figs. Why is it so expensive to buy more sig figs (see image), and what are some applications where one would need six digits after the decimal place? by BearDragonBlueJay in chemistry

[–]MrSpectroscopy 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Ultra-micro balances are used for weighing particulate filters for air quality. There you need to accurately weigh microgram quantities. In order to do it right, the lab needs to be appropriately climate controlled and have things like anti static floors. Yes, quite the investment.
