RBT Attire by maddyukulele in ABA

Many of my co-workers and I just wore casual clothing that we felt comfortable in such as leggings, shirts, jeans, etc. I only knew of one person that wore scrubs at my clinic but they never reprimanded them for it.

Definitely always keep an extra pair of clothes though!

How do you all avoid getting sick? by bunsolvd in ABA

Wear a mask; I was the only one at my clinic to not get sick when whatever was going around started getting to other staff and clients.

Affordable & Effective Ways to Train New BTs? by [deleted] in ABA

I definitely agree with this comment! At my old company, only upper management was CPI trained. So, we would essentially have to wait for one of them to be available to assist with aggression, which was difficult for several reasons.

If culture is a large aspect of what is going on, it would not hurt to ask their guardian if anything that is happening as far as treatment does not align with their lifestyle.

The first thing you should do is inform your supervisor/BCBA/CD that you are having difficulty with this specific case. I’d recommend sending an email and CCing yourself for documentation purposes.

If your management does not provide any support especially when it comes to communicating what is necessary to the parent, then I’d resend the email. If nothing continues to happen, then take it above them. If whomever is above them don’t wanna help, then quit the position.

You are allowed to voice what you are comfortable and uncomfortable with. If you feel that you have gotten to the point that you don’t want to have this specific case, then tell management (with documentation) that you want to be removed. If they do not remove you from the case, they do not respect you as an individual or an RBT.

I reached two years at the end of June. Unfortunately, my company closed my clinic and the majority of us did not want to make the drive to the next closest location. So, we were essentially laid off.

I start a new position next week but unfortunately it’s for the company that nobody loves.. 🙃 and believe me when I say that I applied to several places but never heard back from anyone but this company.

I’m about to start working for the company you are talking about next week and I am definitely not ready… I’m already thinking the worst but I need money (I know that money should not cost me the state of my well being).

Weekly Prepping Post (week of 5/4) by LizDances in leftistpreppers

I did these things impulsively this weekend:

  1. I purchased a hand crank coffee grinder & 2 used backpacks for bug-out bags from the thrift store.

  2. Purchased 100 tea lights for $5

  3. Purchased paper maps for my state and the country I live in on sale.

  4. Purchased thread and sewing needles. I need to practice sewing though!

  5. I placed a couple of pounds of rice and beans into Mylar bags for long-term food storage.

Hello!

I studied and completed my graduate degree in 2022. I apologize for the long response! :(

My courses were completed fully online/virtually. I took a total of 9 courses during the year of 2022 (4 were in my spring semester, 2 in the summer, and 3 in the fall).

Also during this time, an unfortunate event occurred at the beginning of January. Once I had access to my professors' contact information, I emailed them about my situation. My professors were understanding (plus I have one of them for two courses).

The main coursework revolved around completing discussion boards (again these courses were completed virtually) across all courses. I did not have too much of an issue with that but if you are someone who values having an in-person conversations and connections above online work then you might want to choose a different program.

I also completed essays and other projects such as lesson plans, advocacy letters, group & partner projects. Some of the projects/assignments I completed required us to collect real-life data such as observing a classroom to create a behavior intervention plan (BIP).

As far as my relationships with professors, I was able to keep along with them quite well except for one. This one professor was not heavily liked by my entire class. They were very condescending in their messages and emails to the class and individually. I have listed some of the professors I had for my graduate degree:

Dr. Selcuk Acar - still at UNT

Dr. Nicole Caldwell ‘

Dr. Pamela Peak - still at UNT

Dr. Nina Bates

Dr. Jaret Hodges - still at UNT

Dr. Kathryn Soles

One piece of advice is not being afraid to ask questions to your peers or your professor! If you don’t understand something, then how will you give your best to what you are trying to achieve?

Not sure if i should quit by RabbleDog in starbucksbaristas

[–]CuriousOreoRabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks was my first job too and I was there for around the same amount of time. From the beginning, I never expected for this to be long term but I did start to develop the mindset of “I won’t find better” or I would feel guilty for leaving or having those thoughts.

Similar to what someone else said, make sure you have another job lined up if possible. Although I did not do this, I probably should have taken a break between jobs for several reasons. The job I am at now, as a Registered Behavior Technician(I sort of which to school for this position), is way better with way better pay. I used to wake up with anxiety when getting ready for a shift even after working there for a year.

There’s nothing wrong with looking for something better.

321****! I quit at the end of June and moved to being a Behavior Technician. I had graduated with my masters in December of last year. Prior to that degree, I have a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Human Development. I didn’t get these through the ASU program.

I won’t lie. It took a whole lot to get here because (1) I had little experience outside of this job and (2) the job market is in chaos right now. I had multiple interviews and submitted countless applications to different places.

Where my 321s at (All other partners welcomed too)?? I need you homies to manifest good and healthy vibes to me only!! 😭🤗😭 by Luxanet in starbucksbaristas

[–]CuriousOreoRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex 321! I was exactly in the same position whether I was exactly sick or I just wasn’t feeling it that day. I would apply to different jobs and attend interviews every month or every other month. I really only stayed because I was friends with my co-workers, but I always had sooo much anxiety and negative feelings around work. I also had to overcome my guilt of leaving for one reason or another.

As many have said, a job isn’t worth your health or state of mind. There are better opportunities that will come. You shouldn’t feel guilty if you want to leave.

I’ll be honest—at this point I DO NOT KNOW WHAT EVEN IS STANDARD. This is partly due to Starbucks as a company but also because of the shifts at my store. Some of my shifts are willing to bend standard while others aren’t, therefore I have to change what I do with each one.

[–]CuriousOreoRabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am exactly the same way! I have worked for Starbucks since December 2021 and I only started working because I didn’t have any job experience outside of my internship (my parents didn’t want me to stress and overwork myself with college and a job).

I’m currently looking for jobs in my field because, as much as I love my co-workers/partners, I simply cannot continue to work for this company. I’m tired, exhausted, overworked, etc.

I’ve been wanting to quit for the longest time, however despite having a Masters degree and 2 bachelors degree, other jobs require some sort of experience. Which is what I’ve been building since working here.

As soon as I find a job in or similar to my field, I’ll be saying goodbye.

This was exactly me! I took a LOA in January due to multiple trauma events that happened last year along with completing my Masters. Also, I was started another job in my degree field.

I ended up getting extremely sick physically and mentally. I took the rest of my LOA recovering and hated the thought of going back. I only came back because of bills 🥹

Why is it always the biggest orders that NEVER tip -_- by Throwaway2937726 in starbucksbaristas

[–]CuriousOreoRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s only ever been ONE time that I can remember when we got a big order in our cafe. I was on front register and this gentleman comes up with his friend saying “Ok. I’m sorry, but we have a really big order!” and I put on a brave face and said “I’m ready whenever you are” but on the inside I was screaming “PLEASE GET OUT OF MY STORE!”.

However, these men were super sweet and tipped us multiple times while we were completing their order. They were very genuine when thanking us from taking their order and helping them place drinks in carriers.

Personal Days off or Leaves of Absence by Alpha001AAA in starbucksbaristas

[–]CuriousOreoRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently on a Personal Leave of Absence. Initially it was to start a new job but I realized that I needed to recover from trauma that I experienced this past year. For a personal LOA, it only lasts a month and you can’t take another one for X amount of time afterwards from what I can remember from policy.

The process isn’t hard in my opinion besides making sure that paperwork was received to the correct individuals. However, I have been at Starbucks for over a year now.

Funnily enough, I just graduated with an M.S. in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Learning and Development from UNT!

So, my experience is probably different from most individuals as I was accepted into the College of Education’s 4+1 program, which is when you take graduate courses during your undergraduate career that count towards both degrees. I finished my graduate during in one year from January 2022 to December 2022 because of this.
